General Earwa / Re: V for Victory

For me, I just like the clarity we are at least somewhat getting.  Before, it was just "hope the silence means they are working on it."  At least now we know they are working on it, so I feel a lot better.

I don't really mind waiting, but only if I know something will actually happen...

For me, just knowing they've gotten and acknowledged our messages/mini campaign is good news in itself, at least they know Bakker has a core loyal & rabid fanbase. Big thanks to Bolivar and everyone else who was in on this.

Let's hope so. I feel it could go either way, after all we've learned about Overlook but some clarity will be good.

Yeah, any news is good news at this point instead of the radio silence we've been getting from Overlook.

Also, big thanks to anyone responsible for getting this campaign rolling, hopefully we avoid too much further sloggage.

I love Barker's stuff, matter of fact some elements of Bakker's writing like the Inchoroi remind me of Barker, wouldn't be surprised if he's an influence.

Do you have the podcast episodes posted anywhere besides Soundcloud so I could download em to listen to on my MP3 player?

Now i'm going to read something scary - keeping with the flavour of the month. World War Z and War of the Worlds are the forerunners at the moment.

I'm reading The Troop by Nick Cutter to get in the spirit myself. Goddamn this is some nasty and unsettling body horror.

First time I've seen this thread, mrwutteat is an inspiration. So glad Bakker has such dedicated fans like him and the peeps on this board. What Bakker's fanbase lacks in quantity it more than makes up for in quality

Gustav Hasford's Shorttimers was my favorite book as a teen and is probably one of the bigger reasons why dark authors like James Ellroy and Bakker are all time favorites for me.

I also devoured Dune and Tolkien when I was young, which no doubt also informs why Bakker appeals to me so much.

1984 was a huge one for me too.

When people on here reference the internet without linking it usually means Westeros.

Crackpots will no longer be satisfied by & limited to just the text of the books and setting of Earwa, now predictions of doom must be held for the series' real-life success & quality, and those of damnation are reserved for Bakker himself.

What if Cnaiur's one-night-stand with Earwa led to a more long-lasting and meaningful relationship?

I liked it too but I remember having a bad head cold when I read Fall of Hyperion and it was made so much worse by it.

I've read the second one and it's good, not as good as Curse,, but well worth reading.I started the third one years ago but got bored with it for some reason I can't remember now, maybe I'll give it another shot sometime.

I'm reading Tiberius by Alan Massie. It's basically Tiberius narrating his memoirs and is very good. I finished Massie's Augustus before this one and he also has a Caligula novel that I plan on reading in the future. Anyone that's a fan of I, Claudius should check these out, they're just as well written imo.

I thought that the next book would provide satisfying closure to this trilogy, and the series as a whole, even if stuff is left ambiguous and open ended. Like the first time I read TTT I had no idea that it was just the conclusion to the first trilogy of a larger series, and even though I was surprised and dismayed somewhat that the overarching Consult story was unresolved, I still felt that I had read a complete and satisfying story.

I love that you guys are doing a podcast. Every few months I'd do a Goggle search looking for any podcasts discussing Bakker and the only good ones were the Luke Burrage reviews along with SFAudio ones he did too.

Anyway, since you're just starting out and you're the only Bakker-cast, why not just forget about worrying about time constraints until you start pumping them out on the regular?
