Title: Weekly Free-For-All (July 16 - 22)
Post by: Madness on July 16, 2014, 08:38:36 pm
Hi all,

This is MG's brainchild to imitate the Westerosi threads. This week's topic, just like any other week, is anything and everything!

Have fun, kids!

So my kid teases me all the time about The Unholy Consult never coming out.  Or it's already out and I'm the only one in the world forbidden to get one.  The pain...

Looks like my brain child is dying!!!

Oh well, maybe this kind of thing would fly after TUC comes out.

Unrelated, does anyone like Black Butler?  The way Sebastian appears at the end of season 1 reminds me of the No-God.

Random thought of mine taken from the chat that I'm curious for opinions on:

anyone think the skin-spies are supposed to be the equivalent of the Nazghul (with Dune's face dancers mixed in)?
aside from dragons, the skin-spies seem to be the most powerful and intelligent weapon race
and they also are the only Consult members that are sent out into the world on specific missions
not to mention the concept of them (the Nazghul) being "invisible" and "faceless"
Tolkien quote regarding the Nazgûl: " . . their chief weapon was terror. This was actually greater when they were unclad and invisible."

To me, the skin spies seem a lot more like face dancers than nazghul, but i like your explanation.  I don't know that there is an exact analogue for nazghul in Bakker, but I do think there will be a 'kill the witch king' moment at Dagliash.  I bet Kellhus kills either Aurang or Mekeritrig.  In a really showy manner.
