The Leader's Bookshelf with Admiral James Stavridis.

Lots of quality book recommendations therein, specifically The Killer Angels by Michael Shaara, the most commonly recommended book by leaders interviewed in Admiral Stavridis' book as well as bonus frequent recommendation (also recommended by General Mcchrystal's long time aide-de-camp on Tim Ferriss' podcast) Gates of Fire by Steven Pressfield.

It's less than a Gemmell book, the killer angels, so I guess i better give it a read.

Gates of Fire by Steven Pressfield.

I am pretty sure I read this years ago, but I have absolutely zero recollection of anything in it...
I am a warrior of ages, Anasurimbor. . . ages. I have dipped my nimil in a thousand hearts. I have ridden both against and for the No-God in the great wars that authored this wilderness. I have scaled the ramparts of great Golgotterath, watched the hearts of High Kings break for fury. -Cet'ingira

- 1,000 Books to Read Before You Die
Boy, I sure hope that I've already read about 900 of those books ... ;-)

Just read a book a week and you'll be done just short of 20 years. Plenty of time!

That's a good one, though I heard it bit different ... "make a plan", but same thing. Good to see you, old friend!

Wow, I forgot to post the other one which I think is a must listen (if not a must read, as per the book in question) for Bakker fans:

- Why Visiting Dark Places Is Good for the Soul
The Existential Scream
Weaponizing the Warrior Pose - Declare War Inwardly
carnificibus: multus sanguis fluit
Die Better
The Theory-Killer

It's been too long, Tao!

I like the "make a plan" version. Depends upon one's view of whether or not one can "talk" to God.

That would be an excellent debate topic. Perhaps a "Bakker vs. Peterson" showdown?

I'll fight Sam Harris.
