Ok, so I finished this a week or so, been wandering around the threads a bit and gathering my thoughts.

Overall I thought this was a great conclusion to the Aspect Emperor and I will do a review for it, I think it deserves commercial success if only so we get another series and Bakker gets to write it. It didn't happen at all like I thought - I expected some sort of reckoning with the Judging Eye but I think that's part of the next series story now.

The dragon vs high ninja witch was awesome. The stamping foot and cracking a Horn was awesome. The whole battle and strategy was awesome and had me consulting the maps - which were also awesome. Awesome is a good adjective to describe this book.

I think Kellhus did indeed go mad, it was his very madness that allowed *him/Ajokli* to use Outside Will is Reality shenanigans for the old appearing heart flourish and probably from then on Kellhus was broken, at least just prior is when we first see him hear the voice of Ajokli.

However when *Cnaiur/Ajokli* couldn't see him I wondered how mad he actually was, mad enough to make himself a Decapitant in this world and a head on a Pole in the Outside fueled by Believers. It's an interesting subject, especially as we lost Kellhus PoV so early.

So it may be that Kellhus has protected as many souls as he can but I don't really think that, I think he was tricked and my heart is broken for it. I also think Kellhus is the reason that Ajokli sees more than the other gods.

Oh Bakker you are horrible.

TGO ARC Discussion / [TGO SPOILERS] Gateway Drug
« on: July 04, 2016, 07:55:41 pm »
Recent fears have been found true. Ingestion of Qirri (the Street name for Nonman ash) have led to it being consumed in the fastest possible way - snorting.

Remember kids - Snorting Qirri is not good for the health (well it may be but that's besides the point).

Stay clean.

TGO ARC Discussion / [TGO SPOILERS] The Tall and Ciogli
« on: July 04, 2016, 07:42:44 pm »
Ciogli was indeed a huge mountain of a Nonman.

Love that the Tall exist and my crazy little theory about this being little is correct. :)

Anyway they mentioned Ciogli so we may yet see him!

Author Q&A / Titirga's Grasping
« on: June 22, 2016, 05:12:40 pm »
Had Titirga grasped the Psukhe or was it something less literal?

Edit: The False Sun is one of my favourite pieces of the series overall, I would like to read more Atrocity Tales set in the times of Antiquity.

Author Q&A / Wutteat Specs
« on: June 22, 2016, 05:05:13 pm »
How large is Wutteat from tip to tail?

How large is his wing span?

How much does he weigh?

Is Wutteats breath completely mundane or is it Sorcerous to some extent?

Happy 2016!

Ok so with it being a New Year I wanted to start a new year long thread.

So would like you to post your personal reading targets:

How many books do you want to read?
Any specific books you want to read?
Any re-reads?

Personally I am going for 20 books (again) in total this year.

I will post individual reading targets on the next post and keep this updated if anyone is interested.

Literature / SilentRoamers new blog
« on: September 07, 2015, 11:23:19 am »
Hey guys,

As I think I told you all I have been working on a Wordpress blog. Still basic at the moment and a lot of work to do but it's about time I started getting content out there.

With 20+ books read a year and a lot of small and big screen SFF I should be able to put out regular content.

Would love it if some of the regulars over here subscribed.

All your feedback is welcomed and appreciated.

Philosophy & Science / The poetry of science - Dawkins and Tyson
« on: August 27, 2015, 11:32:59 am »
Watched the first 20 minutes of this yesterday and it looks very interesting.

Dawkins is a Biologist - more well known for his atheist literature.
Tyson is more Astrophysics and Cosmology.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9RExQFZzHXQ

Especially funny was Dawkins failure to comprehend Isotropy and Homogeneity and how this Cosmological Principle of the Universe leads to non preferential reference frames stating he may just have to "believe". Im not knocking Dawkins here I just found it funny.

Will watch the rest tonight and post the rest of my thoughts.

Atrocity Tales / New Atrocity Tales - What would you like to see?
« on: June 04, 2015, 07:38:34 pm »
As the title says. Any time period from any PoV in Earwa:

My choices:

Some Sorcerous Battle between different schools in roughly PoN era.
Some Serwa scene where we see a seemingly stable half Dunyain PoV.
Something creepy involving cute little Kel.
Meppa going torrential.
Definetely something from the past ages, like The Breaking of the Gates or the early Cunoroi-Inchoroi wars.

Found a Vernor Vinge short in Nature:

I thought it was a kookie little short.

Hey guys,

Was thinking about this recently and thought I would start a topic.

So which of your favourite novels would you like made into a film and for what reason?

I have quote a few that I would like to see visually but I will start with just the one - I nominate Rendezvous with Rama. I think it would be a phenomenally good looking visual, the interior of the craft with the "polar seas" and the great towers, the octospiders and the metallic sharks would be very interesting. Film would be slow moving with little action and stay true to the novel - I think the size and scale of Rama would allow some 2001: Space Odyssey type exterior shots and the interior could be fantastic.

Morgan Freeman has been trying to get this off the ground for a long time - hopefully this will eventually be made.

Literature / Audiobooks
« on: January 16, 2015, 11:26:11 pm »
I have tried listening to a few Audiobooks.

Ugh....

The dialogue sections are awful, the native accents of the speakers all seem to be this type fo affected american accent that I can't place. Maybe it's just me but I don't think I would ever be able to listen to a serious book on audio, it's like half the story is interpreted for you.

Thoughts?

Literature / What you want to read this year - Totals and specifics
« on: January 13, 2015, 03:49:39 pm »
Ok so with it being a New Year I wanted to start a year long topic (besides my collated purchases thread)

So would like you to post your personal reading targets:

How many books do you want to read?
Any specific books you want to read?
Any re-reads?

Personally I am going for 20 books in total this year which is quite low considering in my younger days I could read 1-2 decent sized novels a week... alas family and work commitments do not allow this as a sustainable reading level so I have lowered it to 20.

I will post individual reading targets on the next post and keep this updated if anyone is interested.
