My only criticism is the Sranc looks a little more human below the neck than I'd imagined them.

Somna, I really like that sranc, especially the face/mouth.

Quinthane, awesome gnosis.

Wicked, Somnabulist.

Also really digging your sketch a day going on at deviantART, refreshingly easy to get my art fix in ;)

Keep it up!

Cheers.

Good stuff all around. Bloodmane looks GREAT. I like the Sranc as well -- it's not far off from I imagine them at all. Only major difference for me is the hind legs (I imagined them being more human), though for a creature that can supposedly outrun a horse, I think your version makes a bit more anatomical sense.

took a minute to get what you were referring to. he's holding a shield that's in the style of a skull. it's one of the first sketches i did and as i recall i started with the skull and it later became a shield.

nice stuff, Som. these little bastards frustrate me in that the journey from my mind's eye to the page inevitably leaves something behind. much like the family vacations of my childhood. where i'm pretty sure sranc first appeared.

I really like everyone's Sranc, the only complaint I have (using the term lightly) is they do not seem inhumanly beautiful enough for me. I think they should be prettier.

I love the body Som, that's pretty much how I envision them. The faces are tough thought because they have to be sort of "Nonman" based because of their origins.

Anyway great work guys.

lol, Quinthane.  Family vacations... each one it's own special little slog.

SR: I agree with you.  Inhumanly beautiful is (not surprisingly) difficult to achieve.  I had a couple of face-front sketches going but I didn't include them for that very reason.  They just looked silly or too feminine.  Still working on it!

a Sranc study

I love it. That torso fits the "dog-deep" description of the chest while still being vaguely humanoid.

I'd argue that silly and feminine isn't actually bad in this case. I think the Sranc are deliberately supposed to provoke a huge cognitive dissonance in observers. They're a perverse Inchoroi joke, after all. Not just a bioweapon.
