Hey guys,

My view has always been that Serwe and the Circumfix broke Kellhus. The World Moved Kellhus, he went mad and became a Dunyain defective.

I'm not sue if Kellhus as we knew him from earlier PoV's would be recognisable anymore though.

Another question - how do you guys see the scene where Kellhus tells the Ordeal to flee? Do you see this as humanity coming through or something more sinister?

So I finished The Great Ordeal ARC last week. I really liked this book, this may even be topping my favourite of the series (previously TWP). I can't really go into details here but this was a great book.

Currently rattling through Brian Aldiss Hothouse which is proving very weird, I know some of the science is off but it's all based on realistic principles. I'm quite enjoying this and I haven't read Aldiss before. He has a style of putting you in a definite god position, to paraphrase; "the plants are so large now because of x but of course character y does not know this as she walks along..." that sort of odd style.

Yeah HP I think that is the scene I referred to.

So judging by this we may have the most physically powerful Nonman taking the fight to the Vile.

Awesome.

No Madness there were a number of instances where this was other characters dialogue. It seemed to be obvious to me to have a deeper meaning or significance. I think it might be a way of Bakker showing us perception flaws from a Whelming or something. It was noticeable though so I'll try dig a few quotes out. I remember it not just being spoken dialogue but inner monologues as well.

Isn't it also mentioned in one of the Ishterebinth chapters that few could hang with Croglin in the Holy Deep. Maybe I misremember

The one thing that annoyed me were the double words.

They-they and things-things like that. It almost felt like there was a reason for it and became annoying for me.

Recent fears have been found true. Ingestion of Qirri (the Street name for Nonman ash) have led to it being consumed in the fastest possible way - snorting.

Remember kids - Snorting Qirri is not good for the health (well it may be but that's besides the point).

Stay clean.

TGO ARC Discussion / Re: Ishterebinth

Ok so thoughts:

Love the speculation on Serwa's intent. My initial reading was one that she was going to unleash fury but my subsequent read I was not so sure. A lot of reasons now (with the changed dynamics in Ishteribinth) for that not to be the case. Although I do expect that Metagnostic sorcery trumps Nonman Artifacts. Shae broke the Barricades wrought by Emilidis and he was only genius level intellect, not Dunyain level intellect. For all we know the Collars made by other Artificers might be like cheap knock offs.

I found the idea of some of the Mansions turning their backs on Men whilst others embraced them and the Mansions slow descent into Madness heartbreaking. For some reason I find the Ishteribinth scenes more tragically sad than horrifying.

The Tall are just awesomeness in a huge nutshell.

Ciogli was indeed a huge mountain of a Nonman.

Love that the Tall exist and my crazy little theory about this being little is correct. :)

Anyway they mentioned Ciogli so we may yet see him!

What does everyone get from Kellhus referring to Yatwer as his sister?

I asked in my local Waterstones (I buy all my new books from there)

Apparently not available until September as a physical copy. Looks like us brethren over the ocean are wont to wait a while longer!
