I don't think that Aliens would come looking for POTUS. Requires too many assumptions on the biology and cognition of aliens and then them making the semantic leaps required to respect our sociocultural hierarchy as we do.

What makes Serwa different than other sorcerers and/or Kellhus himself? I'm sure every schoolmen has passion, but Titirga was somehow unique in his ability to mix the two magically, if indeed he was using some kind of psukhe-precursor.

I'd say that what makes Kellhus and Serwe special is they have no passion. The gnostic is based on meaning and the purity of said meaning. Their able to remove everything they associate with their utterals an inutterals, and its pure meaning. Incandescence geometrics, man!

Yea, I loved The First Law trilogy. And, what made me seek this thread (or start a new one, but I looked harder this time Wilshire ), is what Francis Buck wrote in the Who's the Manipulator thread. Its about accessibility. Joe has already surpassed Bakker in sales and is a much more popular author. I love the books I flew through the trilogy. Joe's writing is addictive, when I pick it up I can't put it down. Last night, I purchased Half a King on kindle and blew through half of it in one sitting, its great. Its easy reading and very interesting and keeps you wanting more. Yet, I couldn't go and analyze and do what I do with Bakker. Francis Buck made a great point and Abercrombie is immediately who I thought of.

So, I'm almost at the end of TDTCB, the scene where Cnaüir is going over everything that has taken place. He's trying to figure out Moe and Kellhus's intentions. And he asks himself, "Is Kellhus still in contact with Meöenghus?". One can only assume he's thinking via dreams, and it got me thinking

If we go from Kellhus's story, the Pragma's received dreams, correct? And I know there is the whole deal that the sender has to know where the receiver is. Yet, the only instances we see this its via two Sorceror's. In TWP, isn't one stationed with Cnaüir? He explains the whole bit, right? Well if anyone can recieve the dreams than why need a sorceror as the receiver? What I'm getting at is it basically proves that someone either knew sorcery at Ishual, or it is rock solid proof that the story is a blatant lie.  Its not like we have any instances of a sorceror communicating with a non-sorceror. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I can't recall any, at all.

I have no answers either. I just seem to think (and looking back at the thread this goes against H.) that if anything, the No-God is more than we're led to believe. Not just something that is at the disposal of The Consult. They may have summoned it, but, they have no control over it. Meaning while it was worldly thing during the First Apocalypse, it ran the show, whatever it is. I think now, its a confused entity on the Outside wanting back in the game. I don't know man, I'm just spitballing, and I really have no evidence other than Kellhus saying he spoke to the damn thing. I think it's what made Kellhus "mad" as a Dûnyain. He steeoped outta mission and said this thing needs to go.

Geoffrobro, this interests me about Cnaüir seeing his god, ergo the No-God. And I've been thinking on it and the only thing that hangs this up, is that The Consult was initially warring with The Cishaurim, right? The Cish were uncovering their skin-spies and they wanted them destroyed. Maybe its just as simple as Cnaüir seen the God and realized that. Maybe it had nothing to do with the No-God, but man it interesting. My head is swimming over the idea of it.

Oh, and hell, I'm ignoring one of your best points. Moe's eyes flashed with white.....huh. That's never been described in relation with the Psukhe. Man, I need to go digging here.

You know, with the eyes lighting up and Moe being described as a corpse, it almost as if he isn't a Cishaurim. He truly isn't a Cishaurim because he doesn't have the passion/faith in order to bear the Water. He even says that he could only do rudimentary things with the Psukhe. And that's why he needed Cnaüir. There's definitely more here, just need to flesh it out

TTT, when Proyas (in Shimeh) is on a rooftop and throws his chorae at a Cishaurim:

It appears, maybe, that chorae have an equal-but-opposite effect on Cishaurim.  Sorcerers are completely turned to salt, clothes and all (removal of all water from them?).  Cish appear to be 'sodden' yet still 'burn' (becoming soaked or one with 'water'?).

Also, something that always bugged me:  Moe doesn't flinch before Cnaiur places the chorae on his cheek.  If he were a sorcerer, he would have sensed the thing coming toward him, but he doesn't.  He only reacts when it touches him.  So, a few possibilities:

1) Cishaurim aren't of the Few (they can't sense chorae, even though they kill them, too; is there any textual evidence to support/contradict this?)
2) Moenghus was not one of the Few (if he were, he may have sensed it coming toward him anyway)
3) Moe was so absorbed with what he was doing (trying to save his own ass), he didn't sense it (hard for me to believe, as the Dunyain have demonstrated they can easily concentrate on more than one thing at a time).

Just adding fuel to the speculative fire.

Not taking anything away from your post, because you make some great points. Just, go back and read when Moe and Cnaüir meet after Kellhus knifes him. You don't think Moe wasn't expecting Cnaüir? I do. I think it was all part of the plan. That's why he doesn't flinch at the chorae. He's embraced what has to be done, as all Dûnyain would do. You can't convince me otherwise that Moe+Cnaüir=Meppa isn't true. Is there any memories left from them? No. Its the combination of Moe's intellect and Cnaüir's passion that makes Meppa as powerful as he is. And furthers the theory that Moe was just a pawn of someone else. Seswatha in my opinion, but who knows.
