It looks more like Akka's thinking "To get that kind of mark he must have used some nice moves over who knows how many years, he knows his sorcery, I must be careful"
At least that's how I read it XD
That's how I read it too. When he first met Cleric, it isn't completely obvious to him from the start that it's a Nonman, though, so the Mark can't be that different to a human sorcerer's.

Having thought about it, I think it's very much like you say. I see the Mark as a kind of reflection of the sum of all modifications the sorcerer has made to the Onta. Every time you alter the Onta, it alters you. If you alter it profoundly or many times, you get more Mark.

Kellhus, as usual, is more about subtlety. I see the second inutteral as giving him more precision in getting exactly what he wants from the Onta, not necessarily only raw power. If this is so, his Mark could very well be less pronounced than other sorcerers'.

I feel like the nonmen have to suspect something anyway, either from the speed of their progress or from the quality of her mark or both.
Yes, they might suspect something but wouldn't know exactly what.

Maybe they would assume that they came by flying chariot or somesuch. Even if this - from what we've read so far - seems to be beyond human sorcerers, it would still be credible.

And again, why must Serwe hide her sorcery once they are in a certain range.  I'm quite sure the metagnosis leaves a mark, probably noticably different from the norm.
Those transposition cants would be unknown to the Nonmen, and she (and Kellhus) might not want to show off her full capabilities just yet.

Might be that the Mark doesn't reflect the power of the sorcerer as much as how long and much he has been practicing sorcery.

Also the level of power he gains manipulation of the Gnosis into Meta-Gnosis is theoretically unlimited. ( Meaning that we haven't seen anything specific yet but we can safely assume he's ridiculously powerful ). Maybe he thought " yeah the Incandati were kicking my ass but in a few weeks of study I would have oneshotted them from the sky with my MG"
And gave up on obtaining the Psukhe.
Makes sense. From what we know it is reasonable to conclude that he knows that his Psûkhe-fu will be weak, due to his stunted emotional life.

Another thing is that we don't know if the Psûkhe works with inutterals, or if some other mechanism is at work. If there are no inutterals, he won't be able to add power by adding one or more.

On the other hand, it could be possible to add an emotional/Psûkhe component to the Gnosis. Maybe that is what Titirga did.

And, if Kellhus, or some other MG sorcerer, did this to the Meta-Gnosis, he/she could be exceedingly powerful.

Literature / Re: Hyperion by Dan Simmons

I love Hyperion and Fall of Hyperion. The other two books get progressively worse - I thought they were ok, others' opinions seem to vary between "ok" and "worthless crap". On a 1-5 scale I'd rate the four books at 5 / 4,5 / 3,5 / 3 or so.

One tangential word of warning though - if you loved the Hyperion books, you might feel a need to read Ilium and Olympos by the same author (but not set in the same universe). Do not do this. Ilium sets up things very interestingly, and has a lot of promise, but then the utter crap that is Olympos basically turns the whole duology to a steaming pile of feces.

For a party, shave your head, color your skin white and go as an Erratic nonman Ishroi. Then you have a tremendous amount of gravitas as well as a built-in excuse for whenever you make a mess or forget someone's name. If something exceedingly funny and/or traumatic happens, cry "YES! I WILL REMEMBER".

If the party is expected to get really wild, you could prepare similarly but instead go as a Sranc (preferably of the domesticated, house-broken variety).

Or, join up with two others similarly dressed, tie yourselves together tightly, get a big club and go as a Bashrag. Might be complicated when you all get drunk, though.

Leaving the underground Mansion after knifing Moenghus, he obviously couldn't 'see' Shimeh, yet he popped into the sky above it, assumedly straight from that underground room.
Well we don't know. He might very well have performed a chain of jumps here too, with the first jump just covering the 15 meters to the top of that waterfall, or something.

So, the Cish not only had the ability to teleport, but to teleport to someplace they couldn't see directly.
They could have walked the Shadow Way (or whatever it was called), like Akka and Xin did in TWP.

2)  Meta-Daimos:
Great idea, I love it. Just the kind of surprise that Kellhus would love to spring on the Consult. Possibly his demon army even will include some of the Hundred.

That we are going to see some Demonic sorcery or other seems inevitable, with both Kellhus having walked the Outside and Iyokus being on the Ordeal, but I never envisioned something of this scale until you brought the possibility up.

3)  Meta-Compulsions:
Possible, but would need to be severely limited to be believable - i.e. he needs to know the dreamer and/or his location really well or something. Otherwise this potentially could have saved stupendous amounts of time and lives in the Wars of Unification and it would beg the question why it hasn't been used before. But then again, it might be possible to argue that it is a capacity he doesn't want the Consult to know he has, which is why he hasn't used it enough to raise their suspicions, etc.

My theory is that it's going to be named "The Glory of the Victorious Consult", which is kind of a spoiler.

Scott is going to shift genres a bit on us, and give us 1,000+ pages of highly detailed rape alien erotica. Quite possibly there isn't going to be any plot at all to distract the reader, since TUC is going to tie everything up so nicely.
