General Misc. / Re: What's your favorite kind of pie?

I had a peanut butter cheesecake about a week ago...simply amazing! I consider that a pie, others might not. I won't sway on me considering it a pie. Try and sway me and you will be left in despair.

I broke down and watch Season 8, and tbh, im not as upset at how things ended up working out.

It makes plenty of sense that Arya kills the NK. Matter of fact, you know hindsight and all, shouldve seen it coming when she joined then left the Faceless Men.

Just read an article that Jon does indeed fill the role of AA. By killing Dany he indeed does kill the darkness that would spread across the land. After burning KL, I think we all agree should wouldve just went North and done the same. Even the way in which he killed her fits into the whole prophecy.

Dany becoming the Tyrant? No question.

I mean, the story-telling of it continued to suck, but i dont see where any of it doesnt make sense.

But, we all know this is because there is no book material to go on (in regards to plot armour and such). D&D are clearly not GRRM. It's pretty simple, the shows have sucked since they passed the point in which there is no more book material. Haven't even bothered watching this season. Haven't even DVR'd it, just not worth it to me.

Finished Dark Forge, by Cameron (4). Great book, and Cameron has never dissapointed me in any phase of his writing. Love the guy.

About half way through Dark Forge, by Miles Cameron. Excellent book and gets back to what Cameron is good at. Battle scenes and the life of living during war.  Probably finish in a night or two.

Then, I WILL go into Black Leopard, Red Wolf. I just seen where the 2nd book in Cameron's series just came out and had to get it. He is definitely in my top 5 of fantasy authors and just cant past it up.

Finished The Hod King(2), by Josiah Boncraft and Cold Iron(3), by Miles Cameron.

Really enjoyed Hod King, though I feel the story didn't really advanced all that much. I was pleasantly surprised to find out this want the final installment. I'll post in the spoiler thread later.

Cold Iron, was a good book but not the same sort of story as Traitor Son Cycle, even though it s in the same world. Much tighter in scope and plot. Still enjoyable, and I really like Cameron's writing.

Finished The Hod King and started Black Leopard, Red Wolf.

I have a little under 100 pages left of The Hod King. Coincidentally, Black Leopard, Red Wolf is what I'm going to read next. I think the premise is neat. But, from all the reviews I've read, I don't see where it would be anything like ASOIAF, either. Let us know what you think of it, H.

I'm a third of the way through Book 3.  I'll make a topic once I am done with it.

I have 200 pages left and I'm going to try and finish up tonight.

Lol, anyone can make a topic. I'll ignore it regardless until I've read them. Can't remember what the waiting list looks like on my pile, at least 1.5 books of Mistborn. If we're going to discuss Tower of Babel then maybe I'll read it next. That still puts me at like at least 1 month if I read everything quick.

Certainly not telling you what to do. But, we all read these same books, just not usually at the same time, generally. Would be nice to have a little in-depth discussion with the fellas, is all.

I have of course only read the first book  . But 2 and 3 are on the list this year.

Well.....what are you waiting for? I figure it pretty simple as just adding "spoilers" to the thread title. Then, you can steer clear til your caught up.

ETA: Again, we're impatiently waiting. 🤷‍♂️

OK, well, at least it hasn't been too long without me knowing.  Forum came back just in time...

As you, Wilshire and I are all reading this, it might be worth starting a thread over. Figure there are others also.

Almost did a reread of first 2 books to freshen up, but dove right into it. Just started part III of the book.

Went on a cold spell myself Madness, the last few weeks. Happens to all of us at some point.

I'm about halfway through The Hod King, by Josiah Bancroft. Really love this series.

We will do what we do every year, Wilshire. Read and tell people about it. ;)

I'm not saying I walk around with a smile on my face, thinking that will make the world right. Or, that if I just look on the bright side, the best will come.

Example. Two guys tasked to do the same job, a truly horrid job, pick one there are many. Person A goes with the attitude that it needs done no matter what, so digs in and get it done. Person B bitches and moans and complains the whole time. Hating his shitty circumstances life has handed him. Who do you believe gets done faster and does a better job? Hence, a positive outcome.
