Title: TGO Official Buys
Post by: Ciogli on July 03, 2016, 11:45:15 pm
I don't know where to put this, but I just came from Barnes&Noble and I ordered TGO, they said it would be here on the 5th, apparently it is either coming out that day, or if you order through them it Will come in that day.

Congrats, Ciogli.

I was going to ask, who else has been able to officially buy a copy? (as a number of Westerosi report having purchased copies at their local B&Ns.)

I was going to ask, who else has been able to officially buy a copy?

I just got back from picking my copy up from a local B&N the second they opened.

I too was going to buy it on Amazon but when I saw it was coming out a week earlier through B&N there was no way I could suffer the thought of not going and grabbing a copy.  The world's getting completely shut out in the coming days!

May you survive the revelations to come and return to us another broken sibling 8)!

I asked in my local Waterstones (I buy all my new books from there)

Apparently not available until September as a physical copy. Looks like us brethren over the ocean are wont to wait a while longer!

Cool, I had also considered this option, but had only checked online and had planned to go this week to check in store. I've ordered one from America and just paid the price for the fastest shipping they order.

It's only 10-14 days now depending on how quickly it ships.

Went to Barnes and Noble today because of this post. They had four copies in-stock and on the shelf. I am in Orlando, Florida. Paid the ridiculous in-store price ($32.00 after tax) for it so I could get my grubby fingers on it NOW.  ;D

Yeah, I hear ya, huskylord. I'll be even more saddened when the only stock of books Canada gets is the first one.

Yup, confirmed Barnes & Nobel. They had 2 in stores this weekend, and ordering is available online. FYI, its $10 cheaper online.

Cancelled amazon US and used the above. I now have an ETA of 12th July instead of 14-18th, slowly but surely finding the shortest path. :D

I'm splitting the 2 day shipping option with 5 people, which made it far more reasonable :P.

I was $36 for shipping. It would have been more if there had been an even faster method :)

Well I have my fingers crossed. I pre-ordered the kindle version through Amazon Canada....still showing on my account that delivery is for July 12th.
However, when I browse through amazon canada logged out of my account, it's saying July 26th for Canada.

Man I hope I don't get a rude July 12th update
Title: Re: TGO Official Buys

I changed my order as Canadian release was put back to 26th.  My order is still processing however the estimated date (12th) has not changed.

I'm a huge MMA fan so international fight week (this week) is keeping me occupied. I had kind of hoped it would be on it's way by now.

Haha :) I was very interested in it, fortunately so many other fights helps to dilute the pain a bit. Good credibility though for the UFC, if they had any sway in drug testing results they would have buried this result.

Still processing order :P

As far as I know, from here on out Penguin Canada will only distribute Overlook's edition of the book - hence the uneven lag time between Canadian and US releases :(.

So once you buy the Kindle edition it sends you a download link so you can put in on your computer?

So once you buy the Kindle edition it sends you a download link so you can put in on your computer?
Just a little bit more complicated.

There is a banner "READ ON ANY DEVICE >Get free Kindle app" under the book (https://www.amazon.com/Great-Ordeal-Three-Aspect-Emperor-Trilogy-ebook/dp/B01F0DFM0O/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1468251625&sr=8-1&keywords=the+great+ordeal+kindle) cover, which produces a window: "Enter your mobile number or email address below and we'll send you a link to download the free Kindle App. Then you can start reading Kindle books on your smartphone, tablet, or computer - no Kindle device required."

Using that, I've just got Kindle app for PC and now I'm trying to install one on my phone.
Btw, the app will ask you to login with new or existing amazon account.

And as Madness suggested, "This title is not currently available for purchase" with "Publication Date: July 12, 2016".
We're lucky it's 11.07.2016 & 22:56.

PS Time in Washington, DC, USA 5:12 PM Monday, July 11, 2016. I've completely forgot about timezones!
PPS Amazon.com is UTC-7, as far as I remember. That makes it even more painful: 2:19 PM Monday, July 11, 2016.

There were upwards of 15+ forum regulars who got their hands on ARCs over the past two months. And since Quorum was taken away because people couldn't seem to contain their "excerpt spoilers" to the TGO subforum, I made a private subforum so the ARC readers could discuss the impending TGO release without spoiling the experience of others ;).

As per my other post, it will become public tomorrow.

Amazon.ca doesn't want to play ball either :(

I'm thinking I could spoof my IP, set up an Amazon.ca account with new email account and a fake physical address found on the internet, buy an Amazon.ca gift certificate from a third party vendor with my European credit card, top up the new Amazon.ca account with the gift card, then purchase the book that way.

It's weird : I could probably buy a controlling stake in a Canadian mining company over the internet more easily than a f***ing e-book.

There's never a free market globalization around when you need one.

Surely there's an easier way which doesn't start with kat.

A kindred spirit; it's my hope that in the future people will view the lottery of hunger and life possibilities decided on something as random as birth location with the same barbaric darkness with which we see human sacrifice, slavery and the 'corrective' torture of homosexuals.

I guess that if you follow the steps I posted on the previous page  ( amazon,  kindle not ip spoofing madness ) you should be good, being from Europe as well.  The step which nearly tripped me was changing kindle settings. Says something like 'I've changed address' swap this to a canada address and everything will be fine.  If you're really stuck pm me... wait for the pm to come through and I'm happy to go through the process with you on Skype.

I always take the dusk jacket off hardcover books. Just don't like the feel of them on my hands.

Same here. And now I like the look of the HC spine and want matching ones for the other five. :/

I've received the hardcover and it looks glorious.

Superb paper quality, great binding and a lovely red and black cover. I also like the dustcover.

The inside has a sort of front page with similar symbols to the Canadian covers of the first 3 books.

A lovely article all round. Would be even better if I could have added TUC to it!

All the Overlook publications have this - though there hasn't been a unique one since TTT. TTT, TJE, WLW, and TGO all share the same Rankine artwork behind the title page.

If you bought the kindle version of the book you can get the audio book for less then $5.

Is that the same piece from the background of the covers?

Sweet :).

A user on Bakkerfans facebook is looking for another way to get the audiobook as apparently audible doesn't have UK rights for the book?

The audiobook (which I bought from Canadian iTunes Store, [it's not up in the UK yet, I checked]) introduces a number of new-to-me pronunciations, which isn't something I expected from someone who narrated the first two books in the series.

Still waiting for the retail HC pre-order to arrive from Chapters... it's apparently arriving on Friday.

Lol - fucking Chapters. The website still lists the book as not available in stores. I'm going to go and do some bookmarking today but real disappointed at Canada's rollout - especially since when WLW came out Penguin at least did their "publishing due diligence" and paid for a whole table space just for WLW (the final volume Penguin had their own edition of before opting just to distribute Overlook... which means no series of covers for Canadians :( ).

Thanks, rhizome. The facebook poster since mentioned they'd gotten around ordering the audiobook in UK.

Finally got a little time to get the eBook and bring it over into Calibre, then merge it with all the other books.

Full series search engaged, just in time for the First Cast.

So H, is Calibre an App? How does this work? This is something I would love to do, yet I am a complete computer illiterate.

Yeah, it can be an App, but I think you have to pay for it there.  I used it on my PC and it's free there.

Message me and I'll get back to you on how you can do it, it's not hard, but tricky.
