seems like you struck something, based on bakker's rafo response.

Seriously impressive catch.

17
it also seems like the nogod can't even see the nogod. in both incarnations he repeats "what am i?" "what do you see?"

is there any discussion of why he keeps repeating this? perhaps the nogod just wants a mirror.

Why after feeling being in a room with 100 chorae attached skin spies Kellhus just decides to hang around? And since it takes Kellhus at least a second to teleport out, why would he risk overstaying his welcome when the skin spies have supernatural physical abilities?

If Kellhus had died to TWLW in TGO it would have at least had a decent buildup, and there would have be a finality to it.

he's been slicing up skin spies since book one. he fought dozens in that great chase scene in (i think) TTT. the more interesting question is how did he pin the chorae to the floor-ae?

The Unholy Consult / Re: [TUC Spoiler] Heron Spear?

I thought the removal of the Chorae was to avoid turning a certain vital component to salt.

kel hasnt used magic yet so chorae shouldnt effect him.

Ah, that makes sense about serwa being tired after teleporting, but still, killing the dragon didn't accomplish anything because they didn't need to storm the horn.  She was really awesome though and I love her. Did she die?

Its too crazy to me that kellhus died by ankle chorae. Cannot process that yet.

Hmm. This seems like the best place for some questions. I had most of the same issues as OP, but still loved this book.

I didn't understand how Kel got to the top of the horn, but ok.

My questions are: if kellhus was so powerful, what even was the point of assembling the great ordeal? He could teleport there and dispatch everyone without a huge army, no? Hell, he even knocked down a horn. As someone above stated, it took more effort to deal with meppa than aurang and Mek combined.

Why did serwa bother with the dragon? It was an awesome sequence, definitely shes amazing, but why not just teleport to the top and help out? Awesome as it was, it didn't really seem necesary to fight that thing and die. She and others could have just gone around.

Why was aurax such a little whining bitch?

I just finished and these are the questions on my mind. I really enjoyed it though.

The Great Ordeal / Re: [TGO Spoilers] Embarrassing Question
« on: September 24, 2016, 11:42:15 pm »
the italicized section is the way it would happen because in his head at least, it had already happened, but there is something about kelmomas that makes him invisible to the narindars future, and when he sees something he didn't predict, he loses it. kelmomas thinks "he's just a human" as a rock crushes him.

as far as the ears bleeding, theres a reference to him marking his face and ears with menstrual blood as some kind of yatwerian ritual; but i think his brain popped because something happened that he didn't foresee. His ears "weeping" blood is a lot different than saying his ears were marked with blood.

23
Did anyone catch Kelhus referring to Yatwer as his sister just before killing psatma?

24
such a bummer. she was one of my favorite-favorite characters.

it's so hard to figure out since she doesn't feel surprise. she could be there with him or just not show any surprise that he's there.

25
Maybe this needs a new thread, maybe not, but I don't really understand the circumstances of Theliopa's death. Why was she in Kel's room? Why was she with the Narindar there? the Narindar says the line about "someone who was there when it happened," in the first chapter and also just before she dies.

The Great Ordeal / Re: (TGO SPOILERS) Ishterebinth
« on: September 13, 2016, 03:01:20 am »
I thought the plan was for Serwa to kill everyone because Kellhus knows or has a strong suspicion that they've turned consult. Also of note, regarding numbers, is that The Survivor mentions the "singers" came from the west, presumably Ishterebinth, and not the east, like the shriekers. He said there were hundreds of them walking through the air.

27
Logically Kelmomas should just be insane but by the logic of fiction it has to actually be something supernatural inside his head.

The actual in-book stuff was a lot more damning than the wiki. The saga acts like the twin was still with him and moved Celmomas to perform his darker deeds.

I can't really remember the books talking about it; what darker deeds?

28
Celmomas has a dead twin as well, and a god manifested on his deathbed. It seems like there is something important going on with twins, but I dont know what.

From the wiki:

Anasûrimbor Huörmomas was the stillborn twin brother of Anasûrimbor Celmomas II.
According to The Sagas, Celmomas was haunted by thoughts of Huörmomas throughout his life.

Reading this interaction between Proyas and Kelhus is way weirder

I'm actually not sure that the Bird is a Synthese that the Mandate have seen before. It always seemed to me that the Mandate know that the Consult use Synthese forms, not the Bird specifically. My reading was that Inrau assumes, in his more mortal circumstance, that the Bird is a Synthese more quickly than Achamian, not that either of them would recognize the Bird-Synthese specifically from the Dreams or something (And I'm still really holding out for the Consult Battle-Synthese).
