The Unholy Consult / Re: [TUC Spoilers] CRACKPOT Is Kellhus the God?
« on: July 26, 2017, 06:59:58 pm »
The Captain and Sarl illustrate that some souls 'are too hard for hell'.  Some souls 'bounce'.  Old men awaken behind the eyes of babes, etc.  I wouldn't rule out Kellhus being Mimara's child.

I'm in the 'head on a pole' camp, but Kellhus being in the baby wouldn't be stunning.

It feels like the core insight of TTT is enslaving Hell rather than evading it.  Typical Dunyain 'master your circumstances' stuff.

I've always found the notion that the No-God was motivated by tactical concerns in the First Apocalypse to be suspect.  Not because of any doubt about those concern's soundness, mind.  I trust the Mandate's estimation of the tactical situation.  No, my gripe is that it doesn't seem sentient in a way that would allow it to understand such issues.

The point has been made a bunch that Kelmomas doesn't know what motivates him.  He is a repeater for the Darkness That Come Before.  I don't think being in the Object will change that.  He will do what his instincts bid him.  I think Nao Cauyuti was the same way.

Consequently, attributing motives such as a lack of Sranc to the No-God seems pointless to me.  I think it just does what it will do, full stop.

I dunno, I think it's fine.

Like, very very few people read anything, at all.  It is terrifying how few people have read a book since college.  Authors are basically hurling their work into a void.

This person read all seven of these books, and felt invested enough to google up a website where they could write what they thought about it.  That's an incredible level of engagement.

Yeah, I disagree with their thoughts, but whatever.  The fact that they had em is a great sign for the books.

I don't get what you mean by "LOL bad guys win and all the good guys die LOLOL".  Like, surely, if you changed the last chapter so the good guys won an alternate version of you would be here saying 'LOL good guys win and all the bad guys die LOLOL", right?  Can you explain a bit more what you mean?

Kosoter being the other decapitant would mean that the Captain was a bound Ciphrang for the whole journey, right?  I don't think that can be right, because Mimara saw him with the Judging Eye, and she's presumably have seen the head/body mismatch.

My take on 'Kellhus Plan' is that it was something like:

"Put Ajokli in Golden Room.  Whatever he does there will be the end of the No-God.  Resumption will never happen."

I dunno if he thought he had a deal, or what have you, but I think it was his only play.  Can't beat a bunch of Dunyain, but Ajokli, on a Topos, probably can.

Kellhus has always been about preventing the Apocalypse at any cost (Any wound, save the one that is mortal).  He'd let the world be savaged by a Ciphrang-God like his son lets his body be pared away by Sranc.  Any wound that doesn't kill is acceptable, if the No-God can be aborted.

There's a bit earlier on where Maithanet is talking to Esme about why the Gods would be against them.  He points out that during the Apocalypse people cried out to the Gods, and the answers that they got back didn't acknowledge the No-God or his monsters at all.  I take this to mean that the Gods can act during the apocalypse, they are just rendered idiotic and bewildered by the fact that the most important thing in the world is hidden from them.

Witness Ajokli walking Cnaiur's body into the tornado, only to see nothing.  It wasn't even clear that he saw the Sranc.  They just parted around him, right?  I'm not a hundred percent clear he saw the Skin Spies, and wasn't just slamming the chorae down on general principle.

"I think asking ourselves why Serwë is damned (if she really is damned) is probably pretty tellin"

It feels like the answer to this is just that the world is a granary and souls are the bread.  Like, damnation may well be a much less moral process than the people of Earwa think.

I think it's as simple as 'Ajokli speaks in bold font.'

I mean, Titurga survived a very long fall before they dropped stuff on him.

Now, Aurang had his wings cut off, and was bleeding out, but his biology is weird.  Provided he wasn't stabbed before being tossed over the side I wouldn't write him off just yet.

He was a sorcerer, he might have been able to start skywalking before he reached splatter velocity.

I'm kind of in love with the fact that Kellhus is high in contention, despite having been killed already.  Who cares if the for Truth, it is Strength that saves!

He didn't seem to be there when Ishterebinth joined the Ordeal.  I doubt he'd leave his track.
