Found a similar one on the internet but it was blurry, so I thought it would be fun to make another.

If anyone finds something wrong with it let me know and I can try to fix it.

Perhaps try to put distances and travel time at each step? It would be interesting to finally estimate some sense of scale on a map of Earwa.

Also, what if my method of travel is Cants of Transposition  ;)

As an aside, is this where you found the original? http://forum.frontrowcrew.com/index.php?p=/discussion/5893/prince-of-nothing-on-the-go/p1

Haha yes that is the link. I was looking for it earlier but couldn't find it. my favorite one of those is the school bus. "A School, Bala! Conphas has brought a School!"

I would consider putting in miles/kilometers but I don't have that much confidence. Maybe if we arrive at some kind of consensus then I'd do it. How big is Earwa? Looks a lot like Europe...

I thought the "walking is in beta" was funny, but I was considering removing it and showing an option for another route. I'd call the first one "Follow the Holy War" and the other one "The Shortest Path".

The original plan was to write The Second Apocalypse (am I weird for loving that title as much as I do?) as a trilogy. Since the first installment, The Prince of Nothing turned into a trilogy in itself, I'm assuming the same thing will happen with the sequels.

Nimil, which is the artifact of millennia of Nonman craft and metalurgy, is actually stronger than Dunyain steel, which in turn is stronger than the best Seleukaran steel in the Three Seas.

Earwa is actually some four or five times the size of Europe. I put that allusory analogue of the Norwegian coast along the top as a sneaky way to guage the land masses involved.

If everything goes to plan, TTT will include a number of appendices, including additional maps and an 'Encyclopaedic Glossary.' It all depends on how much secondary material I can polish up before my deadline.

Your other questions regarding the metaphysics of Earwa and the place of sorcerers in the cosmic scheme of things is something that is also threshed out in TTT. Sorry <!-- s:roll: --><img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_rolleyes.gif" alt="" title="Rolling Eyes" /><!-- s:roll: -->

Wiki puts Norway's coastline, not including fjords and islands, at between 25000 and 54000km or 15000 to 34000 miles...

EDIT: Wiki puts Europe at 10 million square km (3 million square miles). Working 25000 into 5 times and then area works out to 15 million square km.

I would say that the portion of the coast that corrosponds to Earwa's is roughly 1500 - 2000 kilometers. Thats a lot less than your guess, but I was just taking straight line measurements. The actual coast is much longer, but that takes into account all the of non-linear parts, which  ignored.

By that guess, the Earwa north/northwest cost (from the southern tip of the the northwest mountains to the farthest reaches of the agongorean mountains), is around 10,000 kilometers. The coast is something like 10 centimeters, making the scale on that map (very roughly) 1 cm - 1000 kilometers...

I can't actually print off the map and measure it, people here would look at me funny :P.

According to my estimate, that makes the linear distance from Ishual to Shimeh something like 10000 kilometers, which is somewhere close to traveling across the distance of Russia (on foot, through a 3000 kilometer dessert).
Too big... too small?

Thanks  :), unless you specifically meant to compliment someone named Wilshere(?). In which case, I totally missed the reference.

The original is much higher resolution but for some reason I couldn't upload it directly as an attachment. (ok the reason for that is that the max upload size is like 200 kb and the file was closer to 2mb). I had to think of anther way to get it to the interwebz so I just posted it onto photobucket, and apparently they thought it was too  big too. Oh well.

A modest estimate puts a moving army at something around 10 km a day... which would take a thousand days from Ishual to Shimeh.

However, historical Ninja's were known to run anywhere between 50 - 80 km in a single instance, which would put Kellhus, alone, at a significant advantage.

Also, as was mentioned, Cants of Transposition vary the time frame considerably.

I don't remember the timeline, but I think it sounds like a bit much for Kellhus to do. How long did he take to get to each waypoint? Or, at least, how long did it take  to walk to the Atrithau to the Hethanta mountains? Most of the journey was done on foot though not all of it.

Or how about Ishual to Atrithau. Most of that was done at a leisurely walking pace. After that he is running/being chased/captured/gets a horse/ etc, so it would be harder to gauge.

Can anyone think of a large period of time that is largely uninterrupted and not a forced march that we could use as a reference?
