The Great Ordeal / (TGO Spoilers) Son of the Survivor
« on: July 22, 2016, 05:54:04 am »
I think it is highly suspicious that of the four that left Ishual only the child is left nameless, all that time and no one even mentions his name. I think this will be a big reveal in the TUC, Kellhus was a prodigy among the Dunyain and Koringhus was also a prodigy. The boy was defective only because of his emotions not because of his innate gifts. If the pattern holds he could be even greater than his father and grandfather, but not as emotionally stunted. If their is a time jump between TUC and the series that shall not be named, he could be the new Kellhus. His talents were blunted because his father could not properly teach him in the ruins of Ishual.

Because he is Dunyain he knows the goal of Mimara and Achamian, and he would continue to move north to intercept them if they were to escape. The world is strange to him and along with his talks with his father he would seek to find them. He would probably shadow the Scylvendi to find the duo, and because they are on foot the Scylvendi would quickly leave them behind and he could make contact.

It is Achamians nature to teach and on their journey he would teach him as he taught his grandfather, if they reach the Ordeal then he might even fall under the guidance of Kellhus. With Serwa they could have a family reunion, although the time seems to be short. It might be the true reason that Bakker came up with the Achamian break with Kellhus and his journey to Ishual was so he could pick up the boy and bring him into the story proper. Or at least a major reason, along with the twins that Mimara will bare, the new protagonists of the next series.

The Great Ordeal / Re: [TGO SPOILERS] Great Quotes from TGO!
« on: July 16, 2016, 07:05:46 pm »
I do not war against men, but against the God. But only men die. The fields must be burned to drive the God from them.

I watch these fields. Who better to burn them?

Where does is it say that the Dunyain read souls? I thought that it meant that reading faces was reading souls because the two are intimintely connected, and for the worldborn the two could not be separated.

I don't think he knew of the nuke, he concentrated to much with its discovery, I think maybe that changed his calculation of what he would do next.

Yes, Kellhus returning home was the biggest why, my favorite moment in the book was when he was looking at the saggomontic device and said that not all can be saved. It gave me the sense that the secrets of the Consult were being revealed, like Kellhus was finally discovering the deepest of his foes secrets. But he must have always intended to return home, preparing Programs so carefully and abandoning the Ordeal at this critical juncture, when the Ordeal is at its most vulnerable. But because Kellhus does almost nothing spontaneously, he sent the cipher any to kill the Data Khan and his line, making Sronga the new Data Khan. I expect that he has been fighting outside Kayutas and now cannot help but to except the truth of Kellhus war, following Proyas into Agongorea. Time is of the essence, they cannot hope to overcome the saggomontic fortress without Kellhus, their is a plan that we are not seeing, that involves Zeum and now a somewhat believer king.

In that same Atrocity Tale it stated that my namesake was killed by an impossible arrow through his helmet eyeslit, it might have been another Tall. I wonder how many Ishroi were Falls, none in the mansion fit this description.

On another note I wonder if the Sclvendi have the Gnosis, before they had no sorcerers, this seems to a adaptation of CUS, and if they are allied with the Consult, with a skinspy for over a generation no less. It would make sense for the Consult to tutor them with the Gnosis. They are not jealous of it like the Mandate, as Aurang said these are new days. Also the skinspy seemed like it might love CUS or something approximating it, it was strange how bound it was to him for so long. They seemed like a couple?

I just figured this one out, it was quite the suprise when I read it.

The Tall was unexpected, in the psalms of whatever it spoke of Ishroi heroes who never stopped growing, I thought it was an artistic convention, but I guess not. Oiruinas was spectacular in his short appearance, I cannot wait to see him in Battle, immune from sorcery. It always seemed strange the way the Bashrag were said to be crafted to contend with Ishroi, but after seeing the Tall it makes sense. The description of him crushing the throat of a Bashrag one hand was jaw dropping.

Akka had a lover when studying the Ghosts, his cellmate who mocked the Inri Sejenus and his expect nothing admonition, while the Mandate gives their souls in return for damnation, Sanclas l believe his name is.

General Misc. / Re: The Great Ordeal ARCs

This one is reasonably priced but I don't think it is worth it any longer, by the time it arrives the book will be out in about two weeks. We have waited years for this, the slog of slogs, and we have entered Kuniuri the ancient walls of Sauglish and our holy library in the distance. Five weeks to go.

MSJ I think for the boy it was just chance, if the Dunyain know they have not grasped the Absolute, then the next generation is their only hope to achieve the mission. And so all of the young ones would have been brought to the thousand thousand halls, he happened to be the only survivor.

But since we know the world conspires I think the child will be very important, going off my theory that Ishual is Gondolin and the bloodline that defeated Morgoth came from there. The fact that the child has one hand may be a nod to Beren One Handed who stole a Simaril from Morgoth crown.

Whatever happens with the Ordeal I think their will have to be a time jump, all of these new characters will need time to come to the fore.
