Title: Eclectic Collection of Instruments
Post by: Madness on August 26, 2017, 02:47:52 pm
I happened upon two this morning in my roundup and was reminded of the Hang Drum as well, which I've been following for a decade and is included in my one long piece of fiction, so I decided to make a thread.

I love instruments and my older sister and I were put through basically as many semesters of music as is possible throughout elementary and high school (among a number of extracurricular efforts).

- Gayageum: Game of Thrones on Gayageum (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wLHmoXrLuq4) - I've seen her cover a number of tracks but this is worth sharing.

- Roli Seaboard: Jordan Rudess (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GdxwOhqkWI4) of Dream Theater fame.

- Hang Drum:

I wanted to find Dante Bucci, the guy responsible for my imagining the Hang Drum in fiction, but then I realized there's been an explosion of Hang Drum musicians since I've last paid attention.

     - Evolution - Dante Bucci (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w2Tfv8Xcmis)
     - Hang in Balance - Daniel Waples (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EDQgU1CPpis)
     - Spacedrum - Yuki Koshimoto (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=747hJQNJpeg)

Bring on the instruments catalogue!

Here's the PianoArc!

There's a video of Jordan Rudess demonstrating the Piano Arc, but I can't figure out how to import the link.

Harry Potter's Theme Song Played on Glass Harp (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mpxw8wi0aDU) - I think they mean wine glasses. Still, very cool. I had a friend who used to practice this.

Also known as a glass harmonica, hence glass harp.

Nigel Stanford (https://nigelstanford.com/) deserves an honourable mention here, I think, simply for his Automatica work.

But if you've never been exposed to Cymatics before, bonus.
