Title: Prince(s) of Nothing
Post by: locke on May 07, 2013, 04:58:59 pm
The What has come Before (that comes before) at the start of TTT sparked an idea.  It emphasizes the "nothing" that the Mandate finds.

This made me think that Achamian is something of a Prince of Nothing, himself.

As is Cnaiur, when his Utemot/People/Ground/Identity are destroyed by the machinations of the Dunyain, he is no longer of the People, he stands apart and mimics being of the People, even though he is chieftan of the Utemot, he is not of the Utemot, he is more or less a Prince of Nothing.

And of course the literal text that tells us Kellhus is a Prince of Nothing.

Also, in the Inverse Fire, Aurang is described as the Prince of the Inchoroi, which to me is another Prince of Nothing.

And kind of Saubon, before he gets Caraskand?  Would Old Moe count as a prince of nothing?  What about Seswatha as schoolmaster without a school?

All valid points.  I hadn't considered that particular aspect of the books until now, but yes princes of nothing abound.  There numbers only grow in the Aspect Emperor when we add Mimara, Cleric, Sorweel, and Fanayal.  One could also argue several other characters might qualify as well.

Inchoroi means "People of Emptiness" in Nonman speak right?

And I'm pleasantly surprised to see you participating in discussion again. Thought you took a vow of silence since you'd already read Unholy Consult.

Incidentally how do I get a custom title? I assumed it as like the old Westeros boards where you could give yourself on once you reached a certain post count.

nice!  even after Kellhus becomes the AE his is a 'prince of nothing' in the dunyain sense--that humans are bound by chains of smoke -- bakker's quote about how every slave is a king the moment the slavemaster looks away

Princess of Nothing.
