Yes, I was referring to Kelmomas- his journey seems improbable, given the timeline, and the fact that, despite being .5 Dunyain, that's a long climb. And agin, how'd he get through the hoard, the ordeal, and the intrinsic gate without being seen? And why does his presence allow the skin spy to move?
It seemed so abrupt that I can't help but think this is all part of the plan... TTT that is. (I.e. Kellhus knew Esmi would release Kel jr., he would be salted, etc...)

I'm actually getting curious to know what various endings people were anticipating or would have preferred after the fact?
I do agree with some of the points that panorama makes. The ending does seem abrupt compared to the details of the march to get there. I think some of the confusion comes from the POV of Malowebi- being a decapitated head rolling about his waist makes his ability to describe the action very limited-I found this most frustrating with the battle of Kellhus and Aurang.  And yes, Met and Shae were too easily written out of the series.
Also, I wanted to see more of the Ark. how does one get from the gate to the Golden Room absent a floating shield/ wings? It also doesn't square with the images of the golden room that Akka dreams of- I remember him walking from the outside of the ark inside- no? not possible at 1000+feet of altitude.
Does Kellhus know any of the Mutilated? Of course he does, but do we? Is that the Pragma? How did The Survivor survive if the consult did, in fact, "purge the 1000-1000 halls"? Do the mutilated know about the survivor?
I don't quibble with the ending (how it turned out) per say, I just wanted to see more- I would have liked to see some of these things shown- mimara seeing Kellhus with the JE, Akka going Gnostic ape-shit, the death of the dragon, more understanding of the Tenke (does the Heron Spear have to be plugged in?), and a climb to the golden room (how did Kel get through the Hoard, the Ordeal, and the dragon?).

The Unholy Consult / Re: [TUC SPOILERS] The Carapace & The No-God
« on: July 27, 2017, 03:32:30 pm »
What is the end goal of the No-God/ Consult? Ok, yeah, to close the world to the outside- so they don't go to hell. But play it out- the No-God walks, all births stop. Eventually, the world gets down to 144,000 souls, (it takes years, during which everyone just gets older)presumably, while the number of weapon races increases(continued breeding). The world is shut.
What now? Do the sranc stop raping the ~100,000 raisins left on the world? What happens when they have raped and killed all of the left-over elderly?  The Incorai are a race of lovers- nothin left to love (but seriously- what kind of fleshlight can you make with the Tenke?), what's left for them? Death and oblivion? What's Ark's final play? Does Ark have a soul?

Ancillary, and maybe more apropos in a different thread;
And just to be clear, Aurang is in Hell, correct? He doesn't get out if the world is closed after his death, does he? Does Sil?
Crazy thought/ spoiler- If the world is closed sometime in the future (TSTSNBN) and the outside is timeless, then... wouldn't the gods be starving now? Is this a hint that the Dunsult fails?

While hell sounds like a big downer, the pleasures of the flesh are the Inchori's main thing- they are going to give that up? It seems self defeating- they want a closed world where they get to f* everything they want- but no new babies means no more sentient meat! Do they shut down the NG when they reach 144,000 and start a limited breeding program?( yeah, they are good at regulating lust- that'd work). I just don't see the end game...

I think that's his point- we don't want to face our future, but here it is!

The Great Ordeal / (TGO SPOILERS) Trees

So, just an observation/ question- Of what significance is all of the tree imagery?
The tree of Siol, the tree in Kellhus' visions of the one/ no- God, the trees in his life, from training in Ishual to the mating ritual. What essential "treeness" is Bakker trying to point out to us? Or does he just like trees?

The "Dunyain in extreme distress"- the madness, recollections, and insights of Kohringus. An amazing character who lived too short of a time in the books. One of my favorite descriptions was how he would run among the scranc, snorting like them to drive them into a frenzy- intertwined with his admission of how he stole his son, knowing he was "defective".  Great stuff, and I wish there was more!

Onkis is a compensatory god. I can't imagine that the efforts of the Dunyain "please" her, then.

How does one offer devotion in life to Onkis?

Be ambitious in an instinctive way, as opposed to calculated and logically?  (Therefor embracing the Darkness the Coems Before, rather than the Logos?)
Sounds like Mimara- especially the way Kohringus sees her.

The Great Ordeal / Re: [TGO Spoilers] Kellhus

I am probably ignoring pages already written, but going back to TTT, I was always captured by Kelhus' view of Moengus's vision- that there would be "manufactured catastrophes", leading to the Consult destroying "whole nations" to get to 144K. I can't help but think this is exactly the path that Kelhus follows- the destruction of the Army of the South that was destroyed at Ishri in WLW, the nuke at Dagliash (he can sense the chorae, the hordes but not a nuke?) and imagine if Sorweel hadn't saved the army of the North- add that to his feeding the GO Scranc, and then abandoning them in their hour of need, it feels like those manufactured catastrophes.
I think he could have averted most of those. I'm still not sure of his end game.

I too read it that he was the agent of Ajokli, but this theory is interesting too;
"Why does Kelmomas stand outside the sight of the gods? How else could his being there have been unexpected? He's like the no-god, at least to the WLW. I was thinking that the entire time reading Kel spying on WLW."
He is a twin, whose pair is dead- maybe that is essential for God-blindness, or 'graced', or becoming a god (or whatever Kelmomas is)? Hey, was Cnaiur a twin?  ;)

The Great Ordeal / Re: [TGO Spoilers] Mimara
« on: July 13, 2016, 11:47:33 pm »
Mimara's arc is great in this story- some musings-
what I think is interesting is putting together the fact that, yes, she is a prophet, with Kelhus' proclamation that prophet's role is "To deliver the word of Men to the God."  (122) Does this mean that Mimara is, in fact, "setting the frame" of morality in this world?  With her every vision and judgement, she is building morality.
Will Mimara be the One/(no?) God?

I don't remember the WLW having that dream, just Kel.
