George Carlin on what sports is and isn't: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xSJRIKuNJBA

I wonder what he would have said about E-Sports.

I do agree that E-Sports should be separate as IMO, it's entirely different from what goes in to the actual Olympics.

That being said, the US made history in men's Luge(poor Loch though) with a first silver medal. The Netherlands dominate Speed Skating as expected. Loved most of the routines in team figure skating(Italians were especially charming, but that's not technical difficulty).

Caught most of the finals this morning. Great to see a Japanese woman win silver in Speed Skating.

Curling finals should be interesting. :) I'm sure Bakker would prefer Canada, but I think Switzerland will win.

I don't think someone who probably isn't really experienced in e-sports would be able to give a good argument.

You wont convince me because an E- "athlete" got carpal tunnel. Thats not physical exertion, not even close. Mental, yes. Lets let the E-athletes stick to their "olympics" and continue with "real" athletes at the Olympics.

Sorry, to get political Wilshire, but this is just another example of millenials and their demand to be included in any and everything. They're going to change the world. Sports are sports and we disnt need to have this conversation to know what constitutes a sport. Its ridiculous.
Well, considering that e-sports were already played in "real Olympics"...

First and probably last time I watch Olympics (Unless there is SC again.) .

Even I've heard of sOs, must have been a pretty big upset. That's great.

Maybe "esports" will be come part of the actual Olympics someday. I certainly don't see why not.
You should try to play with me and William sometime. We will appreciate fresh blood :) .

Redeagl, I won't disagree. That wasn't my point, though. I just the TTH was a great book in terms of convergence and reveals. Its the payoff for the first 7-8? books. There wasn't a Malazan book I've read and didn't like. Even his follow up series (shame the last book seems to be shelved. :( )
Ah. Looks like I just misunderstood your comment, MSJ.

Loved Deadhouse Gates. A great follow up to Memories of Ice. Totally, agree with Wilshire. I liked all. Of the Malazan books. And, its because they are all set up the same. A bunch of info and set up the first 75% then the rest of the book is a great, wild ride.

One book I really loved, and a lot of people seem to think it a weaker book of the series is House of Chains. Karsa Orlong is introduced, the Tiste Edur are fascinating to me, and even more so after reading Erikson's 1st two books of the Tisste Andii origin story, or for that matter all the Tiste. You see why the Edur are the way the are, for very good reason.

I'll tell you, when you read Toll the Hounds, it makes all that prior reading so worth it. One huge difference between Bakker and Erickson, you get answers. Not all the answers, which I wouldn't like anyway, but you get some huge reveals. Its very satisfying. Keep slogging Dora Vee.
Disagree. TTH wasn't THAT much better than the rest, which IMO, are better than what you think. You can't say that Bonehunters or Midnight Tides weren't amazing. Reaper's Gale and House of Chains are debatable ( I personally liked them, especially the former. ) but TBH and MT were just masterpieces.

I don't like this list. The concept behind it is inherently flawed tbh.

Just finished watching it. Great games. I hope NoRegret can pull off something magical, his micro is extremely good.
He is in a death group. Far worse than Scarlett's. Two foreigners in ro16 would be really good, but I don't see him getting out of that one.

Scarlett advanced in the GSL and eliminated Rogue!!!!! That's the first time a foreigner advanced to the ro16 since NaNiwa.

The dearth of original stories in Hollywood is frightening.
Keyword. What do you expect?

IMO? Too little, too late.

Why so? Just because humans got kicked in the ass with the failure of TGO? Earth history has yielded worse horrors than Earwa, albeit not cosmic. Don't ever give up.

This has nothing to do with Earth history. I just don't think Earwa is worth saving. Certainly not now.
Now with Kellhus and his Zaudunyanni rubbish gone, it does.

“What am I?” the dark and regal face said, frowning. His oiled braids thrashed like snakes about his shoulders. The last of the light glimmered across the lions wrought into his bronze armour.
“The World, Anaxophus! The very World!”
This isn’t how it happens!
The whirlwind towered over them, a mountainous pillar of fury so high one had to kneel to see the cloud-shrouded summits. Cycling winds roared over them. The horses screamed and kicked from side to side. The chariot rocked beneath their feet. All had become ochre shadow. More scouring gusts, buffeting them with the power of riptides, bottomless and all-encompassing. The grit peeled the skin from his knuckles, from his cheeks.
The No-God walked.
Too late …
Strange … the way passion flickered out before life.
Horses shrieking. Chariot tipping.
TELL ME, ACHAMIA—
He bolted awake, crying out.

I know I said that I am taking a small break, but PoN is just something else.
