Earwa > The Almanac: TAE Edition
The Slog WLW - Chapter 10 [Spoilers]

--- Quote from: Bolivar on May 02, 2016, 09:29:51 pm ---This is one of my favorite chapters in terms of scenes and the poetry of the writing. Yatwer coming out of the ground, Obotegwa's passing, the Nonman Embassy. TAE may not have earned it's due like PoN (it's not done yet to be fair) but I think the full on fantasy elements allows for some really powerful stuff in this cycle, which in turn brings out the best in the writing IMO.
--- Quote --- “But his war … Porsparian! Look around you! Look around you and tell me his war is not real!”
“What? Because he has sent his followers against the Sranc? The world is filled with Sranc!”
“And what of the Consult Legion … the Sranc who killed my comrades?”
“Lies! Lies!”
--- End quote ---
This is a huge tension throughout WLW, where the reality of the Sranc is taken as proof as the reality of Kellhus' Ordeal. Sorweel and Zsoronga share skepticism but only here is it called an outright lie.
Assuming Kellhus arranged for the Skin Eaters to find Nil'Giccas, he would also know why the king left Ishterebinth, that they've fallen to the Consult. It would make sense for him to be behind the Nonman directing the Consult legion.

Yeah, I was listening to the end of TTT last night and during Kellhus's interactions with Moe (the whole narrative of Moe siding with the Consult and betraying humanity) it occurred to me that from the outside, it looks as if Kellhus might be doing the exact thing he accused Moe of potentially doing. I am not saying that I think Kellhus is definitely siding with the Consult, but I found it reason to give pause.

I definitely agree, I don't trust Kellhus. I just don't feel like his intentions are really in the best interest of humanity. There just has to be more to it, I feel. While he might be the lesser of the two evils, he still isn't a savior at all. While I don't see him getting in league with the Consult, because I can't imagine him suffering any rivals, I still think that his goal will have some disastrous consequences for Earwa.
MSJ:
Kellhus is not in league with the Consult. We really need TGO quickly, your guys crackpottery is leaning towards crazy. I've heard it all now. Kellhus might have an hidden agenda, he certainly is not aligning with the Consult. Take a break guys, you need it, lol. :P
Bolivar:
You might need to prepare yourself MSJ, I think it's 50/50!
Rolling with the biblical allusions, he's the antichrist at this point in my reread, a charismatic leader who delivers humanity to its doom, playing a role in John's apocalyptic revelations. I think it was in this chapter I found it so ironic that the Ordeal style themselves the Men of the Circumfix - their scripture's very symbol of false prophets!

Well I don't think either of us is saying he is. But I think I might agree with Bolivar that it is 50/50.
