"radioactive."  lyrics are a perfect fit for TSA, and the song is beyond badass: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ybirL3EtMb8

So now every time I hear the song I think about TSA. It made me laugh the first time I did that. The words can be twisted to fit that universe very nicely. Good call. I thought that song was alright before, but not it is one of my favorites.

And that link to the live version is superior to the radio edit.

Decided to bump this thread with a question that might not be 100% pertinent but oh well.

For some reason, it donned on me that the whole of Golgotterath is surely a topos. A really big and terrible one. If Mengedda went topoi after the NG died, I'm sure the whole area around the ship was similarly transformed when the NG exploded into existence. I am imagining that the coming of NG was not like Tony Stark screwing in the final bolt that finished his iron man suit, but more like a huge explosion (think atomic bomb) after a choir of aporetic schoolman finish their song.

Maybe simply having the majority of the human population standing in big topos worrying about the NG resurrecting... will itself be the cause of that resurrection. If a single man could grow an Eye in his own heart, a whole nation bent to the same thought could certainly cause it to happen. Yes?

Yeah the forehead thing is consistent at least. At no point is anything ever mentioned that says any schoolman could teleport an object right? One would think that is moving a whole person was possible, it would be easier to move items

The Great Ordeal / Re: Excerpt - The Unholy Consult, Chapter One
« on: June 13, 2013, 09:45:53 pm »
Nonman can't be mistaken, and Bekker isn't that kind of writer to pull out "piano in bushes" to somehow eliminate the fact he stated before.

As far as I can tell, wrong on both accounts.

In fact, Nonman are terribly susceptible to mistakes. They only have parts of memories and the Erratic only remember tragedy anyway. He could have just thought he looked like an Anasurimbor but that doesn't make it so.

Also, we know that Bakker specifically has wrong/misleading information everywhere in the books. At this point, those of us around here like to believe that much of what is written can, and is, plausibly false. (Coming up with reasons for out crazy ideas has become quite the pastime)

Character accounts are flawed, since no one character has all the information. Achamian is wrong an awful lot.

At one point in WLW, just before the Coffers, Cleric thinks that Achamian actually is Seswatha. That right there is an example that points to the potential inaccuracy of both your statements.

One last thing, the Appendix has some incorrect info in there, and that isn't even part of narrative. In that case, Bakker is doing the misleading.

None of that really answers your original question though. How about this: adoption and/or infidelity. We don't know a whole lot about the Ganrelka line (or at least I don't). It is possible that somewhere along the way his line was not "truely" Anasurimbor.

However, I doubt it. I think Kellhus being Anasurimbor is extremely likely. Though it also likely that he is not the one the prophesy foretold of. He might not be the Harbinger.

Neuropath / Re: Countering the Argument with Thorsten

I've never read so much text and learned so little in my life.

Hundreds of words and nothing said.

As far as I could tell the TLDR is:

Madness: "Stuff, speculating, thoughts"
Thor: "Nope" (and then 1000 words reiterating the statement "No")
Callen: "Various other things, some questions to thor, more thoughts"
Thor: "All wrong"
Madness: "Uh.. Why?"
Thor: "You have 2 periods in your statement, therefore it is invalid"

repeat for 3 pages of comments.

Annnd now we're here.

Well I'll be following these posts for sure, though I'm not sure how much there is to discuss and contribute, but I'll offer up my own perspective if ever the need arises.

What a great book. Any ways, mark me down as a cynic.

I havent been able to play any disk-based PS3 games since my old fatty decided not to accept a firmware update. Now it shuts off every 5 minutes. Not sure if playing a game without a disk would allow it to get around that issue or not. Might be worth a shot, though I just got Dragon's Dogma for xbox and its a big time sink.

At the rate the Bakker writes, there is not enough time in all the world for him to flesh out the 10,000+ years of Earwa history. He could write forever and I'd buy every book :P.

Good thoughts on TUC. The more I think about it, the more I tend to lean in the direction of your thinking. There is just no way that there will be some kind of meaningful resolution at the end of the series. At the end of PoN, Akka is exiled, the war with the Consult begins, and the war only just barely ends. At the end of AE there will likely be some kind of similarly non-resolute ending. I think that will likely be at Golgotterath.

I wonder if Bakker will end TUC like TTT. With Kellhus running around some place that is not the final battle. Like whilst everyone is battling for Daugliash, he will be snooping around Golgotterath. I dunno.

It seems that Kellhus will for sure not be with the Ordeal by the end. Though whether this means he will be dead, I remain skeptical. Joining the Consult, becoming the no-god, etc etc.

It would make an interesting end to have the Ordeal obliterated at the Horns, and then start off the next series with the moribund survivors running back to the Three Seas. I don't think that Mog will walk at the end of TUC. I think it more likely that the Consult will 'win' and continue their work to resurrect them, and in the mean time, start working on there 144k thing. Kind of the the Cunoi-Inchoroi wars, where the No-God didn't show up till the end. That would give us enough time for new babies to grow up and become  characters in the next series. Say, another 20 years time jump, and pregnant Serwe will have a 20 year old half-nonman baby.

I also love the thought of dunyain children following around Akka. The poor guy. What could be a worse fate for him? Being forced again into the teacher role, schooling the kin of his most hated enemy. The Whore would love that.

I don't know about that. She seems to have her own free will when Kellhus isn't around. If anyone should be entierly under his control it should be Esmi. She should have turned into Serwe after so many years under his watchful gaze. And yet, when he goes, she hates.

Oh yeah thats right. My mistake. Though the Inchi's do have their own wings... but I guess that is a bit more conspicuous

Haha EkyannusIII, maybe he figured he already had too many in there already so he choose another path.

Locke, I'm pretty sure they where chosen for intelligence. Esmi was the one that went looking for them. She didn't want to be forced to have his bizarre children so she tried her hardest to find the best possible replacements.

General Earwa / Re: The Inchoroi

Its plenty possible that there are other Screws, but Titirga didn't fall into one. He crashed through floor after collapsing floor. If it was just ground a long way below him, he would have been able to find the echo and be alright. But he kept falling because the ground kept dropping, and before he could get his barings, the rest of the mountain was pulled in on him.

Anyways, what about half-inchoroi? Either half nonman or half man? Or some Dilute amount of Inchi 'blood'.
