got any? thanx! :)

I don't have my books with me, so I can't take nice pictures of the covers that I have. However, as far as the original trilogy goes, I have hardcover editions, and the art on the jackets looks something like:

Already made this topic :P I have found 16 covers, not including english/canadian ones, in about 5 or so different languages.

Thought I'd save you some time.
Not sure how pintrest works, but that should provide you with a good start.

So what language is the calligraphy on the covers above? Kuniuric? Sheyic?
-
According to David Rankine, the writing on those 3 covers above (which are the only 3 he did) is a direct translation of english to "kuniec". Bakker provided him with the cipher.
I take "kuniec" to either be a misspelling of Kuniuric, or a pre-finalized version of the word.
EDIT:
Meyna, probably not necessary to take pictures, unless you got a better camera than mine (meaning anything better than a cell phone camera :P). I posted those covers here (http://www.second-apocalypse.com/index.php?topic=1415.0)

Huh? Wasn't the shield of Sil described as two Ss opposed by a W or something by Nau-Cayuti? What language was he thinking about then? I assumed based on that that Kuniuric used the Latin script.
-
Lol that is a good point. Probably a lapse in cannon? I'm 100% sure on my info regarding the covers and their language.

Two S's hooked over a V. Omega Lambda.

Can't believe it. Would be terrible if true.
-
How else can you explain using english letters in ancient Earwa? I wouldn't read too much into it. Its not like he could have described it to the reader using Kuniuric, and latin is no better than english, as both are equally out of place. Information must be portrayed in a way that the reader can understand or at least extrapolate from.

@ Meyna - awesome, thanks!
@ Wilshire - preempted again! at least i can display your collection on another platform!

Here are links to Polish cover arts (which are really a copy of the above ones, with Polish titles) - since the ones in the thread have expired:

Also, there is a Polish re-edition planned for 2015, along with the first edition of "The Judging Eye", which may possibly have new covers.

Thanks Alia. I'll be adding those
to the first post when I get the chance. to my other other topic on this subject.
You messed up the formatting a bit in your post, might want to double check (First few links have [iurl] instead of [/url] )

Sorry, this is what you get when you type blind with a cat sitting in front of your screen.

This design is typical for that publishing house, or at least for their crime/thriller novels.

Russian covers of The Second Apocalypse: https://www.reddit.com/r/bakker/comments/3irg42/russian_covers_of_bakkers_works/
-
Oh dear. Now I know that Russian books usually have rather strange covers, but what they did to the titles is... how to put it... atrocious? TDTCB is translated as "Servants of the dark lord", TWP is "Warrior of a/the bloody war" (there are no articles in Russian, hence a/the), TTT is "Downfall of a/the holy city", JE is quite OK ("Eye of a/the judge") and WLW is "Warrior of good luck".
-
I did the google translate and got "servants of the dark lord" was hoping someone here would tell me otherwise :/
-
Nope. While I can't say I speak Russian (not anymore), I can still read it and understand it quite well. I suppose those are typical titles thought-up by the marketing department - we have a fair share of them over here, too. They don't have to be exact translations of the original, it's nice if they have anything to do with the plot, the main thing is - they must be catchy (what the marketing department think is catchy, that is).

i think the French translation of TTT is "When Sorcerers Sing" which is pretty cool imo
-
BTW, the heading on the top of the TDTCB cover says "Sword & Sorcery", while the one on the last three is "Black fantasy". The one on the TWP seems to be "King of fantasy" (or it might be plural "Kings of fantasy"), but the first part in Cyrillic script is a bit smallish so I'm not sure if I'm reading it right.

Whoa. That one's actually pretty awesome.
-
Agreeing, that is a great cover.
-
Can anyone read the cover of that book I posted? Wondering if its an ARC of some kind, what with that white bar at the bottom. Reminds me of the backs of the english ARCs I've got
-
The Chinese one? That's just further advertising. It's like a partial cover that fits over the book. Might advertise Bakker, the publisher, another book.
