"No need to cook the meat, folks!!"

If they're scalded, they've been cooked, right?  ;D

The Great Ordeal / Re: Serwa and Bakker's philosphy

At this point, I'm almost 100% on-board the theory that Sorweel is in-fact a son of Kellhus, making Sorweel and Serwa's potential romantic relationship a form of incest. Plus it would make Sorweel the "Luke Skywalker" to Serwa's "Princess Leia", and I'm all for Star Wars analogues in TSA.

Can you please elaborate? I'm curious as to where you base this on.

Oh this is good. I like it.
I need to find words to express thoughts now.

So no remarks on the brilliance of Locke's post....i would've thought it to spur some convo to say the least. Or, you're all just awestruck at the fucking awesomeness of it. I think it's pretty close to irrefutable textual evidence that Kelmommas is the Narindar of Ajokli. I've basically presented this evidence before. Yet, what I found so brilliant, isthat what makes Kelmommas blind to Yatwer/WLW Is his following of the WLW keeps him in the blind spot of them. Excellent deciphering of the text.

I was struck by the concept of the Narindar being a teacher for Kelmomas. I hadn't thought of that before, but I does make sense.

Also, we know the moment Koringhus realises the Dunyain mistake: It's the moment he sees his future self laying dead in the canyon, watched by Akka and Mimara. I think seeing himself dead is the reason he may have jumped.

The way I read it, we witness a fork in the Decision Tree/ Tree of Events either "unhappen" or become obsolete/ impossible. It's so far unclear to me what exactly triggers this. To me it's a ripple in the timeflow somewhat like what happens just before Korringhus had his final revelation.

The crown, as a symbol for the God of Gods, being an amalgam of all the other gods (4 horns of Ajokli, virgins of Yatwer, etc.), wouldn't be so far-fetched, and potent symbolism towards people.

I understand your point, Wilshire. Just not sure if I totally agree.

On a different note: Did we ever get an explanation why Kellhus thinks he can talk to Seswatha through Achamian?

Apologies, I was not in a position to reply earlier: But Simas summarises the reason quite solidly. In addition, the fact that Kellhus calls him his most loyal slave (not the exact words), stresses the importance of Proyas in his plans. He either has to lose everything, or enough to make him worthy of Becoming (stress on the capital for metaphysical implications) the second Ciphrang head at Kellhus's belt (imo. next to Saubon's).

mot juste......

That is an amazing word.

The right word...

Quote
So Kellhus is disillusioning Proyas.....for what purpose? What must Proyas become?

The one who had everything but lost it, therefore becoming the perfect vessel? Remember Serwë.

Well, ignorance is just as holy. And, Proyas was certainly ignorant as what Kellhus really is and the nature of the Gods. In that way, he is a great vessel. Remember it isn't loss so much as ignorance, forfeiture and blindness.

Forfeiture is loss, blindness the way the Cisharuim do it is also loss, and ignorance is willful unknowingness - which is almost a kind of loss. (distinct from naivete, which Serwe was the personification of).

As far as Ignorance as a measure for holiness, again Proyas does not fit that bill. He isn't ignorant, he's a friggin KING. The right-hand-man to GOD. If you want ignorant, take some schmuck the army. Or the poor old fools left back at home. Everyone in this series is ignorant of something, but the cabal of trusted advisor to Kellhus are not the foremost among them.
Which makes him able to lose everything because he has everything. In addition, he's willing to do everything for Kellhus and Kellhus knows that.

Apologies, the italics weren't mine, they're in the text.
The choice for the verb "to be a name" rather than the usual "to have a name" is the choice of words I find peculiar. It suggests power/ strength/ something worth remembering, rather than just an identifier.
Also, Kellhus himself tells the Nonman his name. The Nonman only corroborates the fact by comparing his face with one of the trophies.

While skimming through the first chapters in search of another passage, I got through the encounter between Kellhus and the unnamed Nonman, and in particular these two quotes below from the Nonman struck me:
Quote from: TPoN prelude
“Extraordinary,” the stranger said, then looked to him. Kellhus could see the glitter of his eyes beneath the brow of his helm. “You must be a name.”
The choice of words uttered is peculiar.
Quote from: TPoN prelude
“But I make excuses like a Man. Loss is written into the very earth. We are only its most dramatic reminder.”
The sad truth behind the words is eerie, with what we have read about both the depths of Cil-Aujas and the Holy Deep.

@Wilshire: I don't recall that specific passage about Achamian you're referring to. Where can I find it? I'm intrigued :)
