I imagine that many forumers manage to read other stuff in between obsessive reads of TSA.

Just picked up Planesrunner by Ian McDonald.  Looks fun.  Interdimensional airships!
Retracing his bloody footprints, the Wizard limped on.

I'm still on the Malazan slog; I'm nearly finished with House of Chains now.

Infinite Jest by David Foster Wallace. Depression, weed, tennis, wheelchair assassins, the human condition, beauty, dysfunctional families, life and death, meaning and meaningless, the value of entertainment, AA, suicide, Metro Boston, and more drugs. This book's got it all.

In my backpack at the moment:

Louder Than Words - Benjamin K. Bergen
Reading in the Brain - Stanislas Dehaene (second reading)

And a textbook for spring semester:

Drugs, Brain, & Behaviour

third volume of delbruck's history of the art of war at the moment.  i imagine its principles will be useful in reading RSB's battles, incidentally, and generating inferences from them.

The City and the City, China Mieville. Not normally a fan of the genere but I rather enjoyed Perdido Street Station, so I'm giving this one a whirl.

I've been meaning to read some Mieville, but haven't gotten around to it.

The Kingkiller books by Patrick Rothfuss have been recent re-reads, and a re-read of Carlos Ruiz Zafon's The Shadow of the Wind, and The Angel's Game.

I just finished Warrior Prophet.

For whatever reason, reading the What has Come Before in TTT killed most of my interest in reading TTT right away.  dunno why.

So I started reading The Republic last night, I'm completely shocked it's so easy to read, and that it's sort of narrative-esque.

LOL - I find most philosophy easy-reads. It's the goddamn thicket of proper interpretation, even of dissent, that confounds most.

I found out about Bakker when looking for more writers who have dark without being dark for the sake of it, and avoid alot of the tropes and crappy dialogue in alot of novels I've read.

I do love me some flighty quick reads, but I'd like to find more meaty novels like The Aspect-Emperor series.

I got a bad habit of multiple book reading...

An American Dilemma: The Negro Problem and Modern Democracy by Gunnar Myrdal

Crucible of War by Fred Anderson

Civil War and Reconstruction by James Randall

Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee by Dee Brown

That's where I stopped, Meyna. Never made it past Midnight Tides. Despite Deadhouse Gates being one of my favorite books ever... Duiker really got to me.

I'll make it through; I'm too invested in the awesomeness of certain characters to stop. Tattersail, Quick Ben, and Cotillion, for example.

Socrates is the original troll.  which illustrates that forum behavior hasn't changed an iota in online forums from what it was in ancient greece physical forums.

What a dick.  The worst kind of troll, the kind that keeps backsliding and protesting he's not actually trolling, and who never contributes an original thought.
