For those who read Echopraxia, I'm curious what ya'll thought of Portia and how it may or may not relate to the Scramblers? Any thoughts?
After reading it I was left with the vague impression that Portia itself is in fact one and the same with the Scramblers -- I.E. that species in its "base-form" is what we see in Echopraxia, but Rorshach (and thus the Scramblers) are essentially a type of...hm, life cycle's not the right word. Just an extension of their biology, I suppose? Between both of them seemingly being a "glacially slow" but incredibly powerful intelligence that's also non-sentient, a long with the part where Portia shows someone the image of Siri (either Bruks or Siri's dad, can't remember), it seemed that Portia was just another aspect of the Scramblers, and their pseudo-invasion of earth.

My read on it was that Portia, like the scramblers, was simply a purpose-built "body cell" of Rorschach as a whole. The scramblers seem to act as nerve cells for the larger organism of Rorschach, being adapted to pass information between each other at an incredibly quick rate. Portia might be something like a cloned white blood cell adapted for scouting purposes. I don;t think either the scramblers or Portia are the "true" alien form... if such a concept is even applicable here.
