The White-Luck Warrior / Re: Moenghus the Elder's (Other) Children

That, or it raises some really hard questions about Moenghus the Elder's worldborn baby's mama - for Esmenet we've had various speculations about her being Celmomas' true heir, at least.

Again, what make these woman special (sorry, Wilshire, I have no real speculative fodder to add)?

Just went through the thread and collected them all.

For my money, I'm still guessing Dunyain did it themselves, or then Wutteat, even though the Consult have been looking for the Dunyain since TWP.

[That was a riff off some earlier speculation in the thread, btw.]

The Weapon Races (sans Wracu) behave as direct extensions of the No-God's will?

More like Cants of Compulsion, but hey, I was resurrecting a thread.

Synthese: Vessels to hold Souls... not bad.

Synthese is a vessel to hold Aurang's soul* - we've not met Shaeonanra/Shauriatas outside of False Sun or Ch. 1 excerpt.

Lol, segues abound.

I think the question remains - will there be notable personages among the Mangaecca or are they relegated to be the Consult's inept henchmen?

Apparently, you could previously watch the full documentary on PBS so likely it's available online somewhere.

Interesting research, can't be bothered to chase down references right now.

Do we have any evidence that Mallahet was known by the Fanim beyond the Cishaurim themselves?
I think its a fair assumption, Triskele.  The Cishaurim were the religious leaders of the nation, not just a sorcerous school.
His heritage would cause controversy, if nothing else.

It would be very interesting to read a Moenghus narrative (though, I'm still assuming this is forthcoming in the books). How did the Cishaurim digest/interpret Mallahet? Was there controversy among the Cishaurim? Was Mallahet truly second-only to Seokti or was Moenghus without Water? Did the Fanim worship Mallahet as a second coming of Fane as Kellhus is to Sejenus or was he more of a Maithanet?

We segued quite a bit, prompting a couple Esmenet threads.

Returning to topic:

Does the mechanism of Synthese use bear a particular similarity to the No-God's ensoulling of the Weapon Races?

What kind of other Synthese might the Mangaecca wield, other than the Spying Bird? Battle-Bots? Shauriatas' floating Ten-Piece?

A Nerdanel to warp your perception:

Meppa is the little boy from the end of TTT, Consult-Cishaurim, their attempt to reverse-engineer the craft that had so perplexed them until the coming of the Dunyain...

I posted this in the thread on Aporetic sorcery, but relevant I think.
Prophecy is paradoxically contradictory by nature.
The past determines the future, so how can the future affect the past?

I always have to wonder about narrative arcs in relation to these discussions. Narrative arcs (intentions on the author's part) are also part prophecy because oftentimes the author literally has no inclination on how to bridge the gap from conflict to resolution (or in this case, Bakker's trope inversion of these aspects, if he can pull it off).

However, I also experience shades of Hyperion's Time Tombs/Shryke or Terence McKenna's Transcendent Object at the End of Time (personal connotations, mind) when thinking about these locus in time where events must take place...

Another thing about the dragon I did not see mentioned.  During the fight akka its surprised when the dragon aims directly at him, thinking the dragon blind, then wutteat says he's been blind for 10,000 years.  So...another revelation.

Makes me wonder if extra-visual perceptions are a universal result of blindness...
