Always good to be back!

Even if I did just get completely taken down by Wilshire

Yeah, I really wish we got one last lightsaber fight from Luke.

This is the same way I felt about TAG, enjoyed it when I left the theater but the more I think about it...

Offense scores points. Defense wins championships.

When you look at the offensive weapons on the Vikings, I admit, a lot of them are inexperienced. Saints not only have quanitifiably one of the best QBs to ever do it but their weapons also have great hands and unreal sense of timing with Brees. But the coaching I'd say is pretty even. Not too long ago Zimmer basically beat the Beast Mode era Seahawks in the playoffs, they whiffed it on a missed field goal. I don't think their success is because an overlooked player had an unexpected year. They've had success with Bridgewater, Bradford, and now Keenum, that speaks to the strength of the system.

H who are your picks?

What a game. Definitely the best one of the weekend. Gotta give it to Carolina playing with so much heart, with Cam getting beat up all night and taking his own face shield to the eye.

Kept me in the running though!

PHL, NE, MIN, PIT

How about the Browns having a parade for going 0-16? I thought it was brilliant.

I can't imagine the sheer level of nihilism it takes to have a 0-16 parade. Love it!

Didn't see your picks when I posted the schedule, Bolivar. We differ on Saints vs. Vikings and Falcons vs. Eagles. The NFC games will tell the tale for us.

Cleveland's "factory of sadness" sure is productive, isn't it?
I'm rolling with Vikings to win out as my SB champions this year.

The Eagles pick is kinda my long shot to help get me ahead in the standings. They're still a well built team though and only reason the Eagles aren't favored is because the media is pretty down on Nick Foles. If he plays like he did against the Rams and Giants, I think they can be just about as lethal as they looked leading up to the Wentz injury. But that Falcons secondary is looking really nasty, they absolutely brutalized the Rams this weekend.

Holy shit that Mariota block to pick up the first down and win the game.

I'm already wrong on my predictions!

I don't think disappointed readers were taking issue with the dark or tragic tone, since they probably wouldn't have made it this far if that were the case. Speaking for myself, it feels like I was waiting for a payoff that never came. The story abruptly ending with the No-God's resumption wasn't satisfying to me, it was expected and derivative of what I've already seen in Akka's dreams. For the Mangeacca to be long gone, the Consult leadership already subjugated, and just more Sranc, Bashrag and Wracu at Golgotterath, it was too much stuff I had already read before and none of the surprises I had been anticipating. I really didn't like that we saw more of the Ark in the Thousandfold Thought than we did in the entry titled "The Unholy Consult."

This isn't about subverting the audience's expectations, which I know is something Bakker set out to do. While the quality of writing is much higher in The Aspect Emperor, the story structure and pacing does not live up to what he accomplished with The Prince of Nothing. Every novel had an insane stand-alone story. Every main character was a completely different person at the end of each book from who they were when they started. Every chapter is momentous for the overarching plot. Assumptions you had beforehand were completely blown away. These books instead felt like they had a lot of filler and were clearly incomplete fragments of a single narrative. The Unholy Consult really had to make up for that dissatisfaction with a solid and original resolution it couldn't afford to end in essentially the same fashion the preceding novels did. Instead, saw more of the same and there are plenty of plot threads left dangling.

Right now it seems like either the Rams or Vikings will represent in the Superbowl.

I'm going with the Saints. I love Karmara, and think he'll be the X-factor. Their defense is stout and a veteran QB. I love the way they look. And, I think Payton is a top-5 coach.

I'm taking the Steelers in the AFC, if and only if Antonio Brown is available. Haven't heard any news on that. If not, I'm afraid the Patriots will be back.

Saints are my SB champs.
You're right, that's a hard argument to beat when you add up all those factors. I've probably bought too much into the Rams hype, with such a young head coach and quarterback, I think they're bound to make mistakes in the postseason against the best teams. But I'm still in with the Vikings. They had a series of goal line stops to win their last game of the season and in that moment there, they convinced me that they're going to the Super Bowl. Granted, it was against the Bears but seeing their defense put on that kind of performance to end a game they didn't have to win made a big impression.

I just read an article about the Bellichick friction with Kraft and Brady and supposedly someone close to Bill says he's strongly considering going back to the Giants, that he really wants it and this might be his last chance to do it. It's such a long shot but it would be so utterly insane if he became the Giants HC. It would be bigger than LeBron coming back to Cleveland.

Awesome stuff, Tao. Would definitely love to see your Warhammer figures, H. Kinda wish I had gotten into it as a kid, I don't have the time or space for it now but it's always awesome seeing what other people have done with the figures.

What I'd like to see: KC, BUF, CAR, ATL
What I think will happen: KC, JAX, NO, LAR

Yes, Skins need to lock down Cousins. Look at the money Stafford is making, people think it's insane but that's really what solid quarterback play is worth. I think Cousins is in that bracket.

As far as conference comparisons, the league has a lot of parity for sure, I remember Chip Kelley rattling off the percentage of games that come down to one score and the final play but a part of me does feel like the NFC is deeper than the AFC and has been for some time. Just look at the Wild Card races and who made it out in both conferences. Do you think the Bills and Titans are on par with the Falcons and Panthers? Every year it feels like a couple of teams who have no business being there make it to the AFC playoffs but in the NFC playoffs you generally don't know how things will shake out. Right now it seems like either the Rams or Vikings will represent in the Superbowl but it wouldn't surprise me if the other four teams made a run either. In the AFC, it would be legitimately jaw-droppingly shocking if the Steelers or Patriots didn't win the Conference.
