Title: Arthur C. Clarke

Any fans here?

Mostly known for his "2001 a space odyssey" I guess, but I was wondering if any of you have read his earlier works.
A friend recommends "Childhood`s end" and "The city and the stars".

childhood's end is cool, and has, in my reading, some RSB antecedents.  the fountains of paradise is less impressive, i thought, but it's a hugo/nebula winner and therefore should be read.  i didn't much care for the rama stuff and hated imperial earth.

Loved Rama!  Captures that big big big story feel and the aliens are very alien, like in Blindsight.

I agree with MG - I liked Rama, the sequels which were co-authored are really not very good though.

I also really like The City and the Stars and the Sands of Mars some of his earlier stuff.

Also have to look Clarke for his Third Law. Third Law rocks!
