I hope someone else is watching this debate right now with me.

Couldn't make myself watch it. I find religion vs. science 'debates' painful.

Was it good?

Same. I burnt myself out on them by going to a Baptist high-school.

I watched about ten minutes. It was the part where Ham is talking about how all of modern science, and basically all scientific innovation, descended soley from those inspired by Christ (or...something like that). Couldn't go on after that.

It was fun to watch Christopher Hitchens in these kind of debates, but they are more entertainment than bound to solve anything. It always boils down to the science guy not being able to disprove gods existence, and the god guy not being able to prove that it exists. In other words it is futile, and basically just commercials for both parties.

In most cases that I've seen when it comes to religion vs. science debates, both sides (the debaters and the supporters) choose conflicting logical systems from the onset, and thus both sides run back and can honestly claim victory afterwards since there were no agreed upon axioms to begin with.

I quite enjoyed this one, though: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jzqa6VMI0UQ

This is why the religious debates in Karakorum were so awesome and way ahead of their time.

But I definitely agree with your sentiments Meyna.

Lol - you missed Nye's thirty minutes, wha?

basically just commercials for both parties.

Yeap.

I will watch this, though I find Dawkin's (and myself for writing this) uncomfortably pretentious.
