The Unholy Consult / Re: [TUC Spoilers] The Loose Ends
« on: August 16, 2017, 05:08:23 pm »
I think the most interesting thing about the Psuke is that it works even though Fane's metaphysics was apparently, in Bakker's words, "the most wrong" of all the systems espoused across Earwa.

"Of the most wrong" as it was relayed to me - though I have a recording yet to listen to. I had to step out to meet someone for about the first half hour or more of the informal Q&A Saturday afternoon.

Didn't someone make note (maybe I'm off on this) that the No-God's whirlwind probably has chorae rolling around it, considering it swept through a massive battlefield where Scranc, Bashrag, and Men were all tossing them around like party favors?

Indeed. And I've put forth that maybe the No-God 2.0 doesn't have Chorae because Chorae were a Macgyver solution by Shauriatas in the No-God 1.0 and the Mutilated figured out how to do without.
Again, my darn memory, was it ever confirmed Chorae were in there in the first place? I kept remember it being said 'according to legend' for so long. It always struck me a continued uncertainty. I know Kellhus notes they aren't there, but I can't recall if there were areas they should have been.

The Dreams might have mention, thinking on it.

It will be markless sorcery indistinguishable from creation, the same way emilidis tried to create an object the same way.
Which leads into even more interesting lines of thought.
The Psukyhe leaves no mark, yet the users are still vulnerable to Chorae. Whereas some artifacts made by Emilidis are immune to Chorae. Which leaves one to wonder what uniquely about these artifacts allows them to be immune.

I can't recall if his artifacts left the mark as well or not, though I feel like they didn't.

Sorry not current in this thread. Did anyone mention meta-meta-gnostic sorcery yet? Basically Super Saiyan 3.

Is this an actual (theoretical) thing?

Well, I don't see why not.  I mean, there shouldn't be a theoretical limit to how many things you don't say.

Of course, there is a practical limit to those by individual, but who knows what it would be...

I was being kinda tongue-in-cheek with the description, but apparently Kellhus' "markless" magic - like him levitating at the last whelming (Kelmomas said he couldn't see him doing sorcery) had nothing to do with Ajokli. All Kellhus magic all the way.

Kellhus has learned so much about sorcery that he has developed some magics that are, more or less, indistinguishable from the world.

That's got a whole lot of implications.
I wonder what he might have learned had he spent time searching into the Uncreated Creation that The Artisan was long looking into.

And really, sometimes I think Shaeonanra could have learned a lot if he spent his time studying the Amiolas. The description of it in the glossary makes one wonder the effect of putting it on a being without a soul.

I had an off-hand thought. From what I recall, Kellhus' grandson was considered defective by the Dunyain (correct me if I'm misremembering). Did it ever outline what his defect was? Do we just assume it is his hand? I can't recall the details for the life of me.

Predictions in according of seriousness.
1 - There will be a lot of Scranc.
2 - We'll get to see some more sword dancers.
3 - Zeum and possibly some Xiuhianni are going to be vital to serving as bulwarks against the end.

I also agree we need more psukhe.

I feel there is lots of potential to be explored there.

Maybe a combo of psukhe and gnosis will be able to perform feats no one thought.

Or maybe psukhe can harm the No-God? There was no psukhe during the First Apocalypse and no protection against it was ever thought. Obviously Chorae protect against psukhic (?) magic but maybe it can perform tricks that can bypass that.

Also now the sarcophagus has no chorae, which means the No-God can be vulnerable to magic. Which means Quya magic with lots of meta-gnosis might be able to pull the trick.

Secretly I hope that Achamian in his old age will be able to act as Seswatha's reincarnation and despite his obvious flaws act as the catalyst that brings together the different forces required to defeat the No-God.
Psukhe always did seem to have a lot of interesting details to it. Didn't someone make note (maybe I'm off on this) that the No-God's whirlwind probably has chorae rolling around it, considering it swept through a massive battlefield where Scranc, Bashrag, and Men were all tossing them around like party favors?

On this note, I kept wondering if the Heron Spear was unique in how powerful it was (being able to hurt the No-God) or if the new spear lost in the most recent events would be sufficient.

The Agonic Collar - Maybe?

Fairly certain Harapior confirms this to Serwa in TGO?

Welcome to the Second Apocalypse, Sausuna!
Thanks! I recall something like that, I'd have to check. But the only think I had on hand was TUC section that says the Mihtrûlic reputedly made it. Though, that's not really a contradiction either given his founding of it.

General Earwa / Re: [Everything Spoilers] Are these plot holes?

1. He probably fully expected him to be a sorcerer. I think it might even have noted as much. But he didn't expect Kellhus to go mad and turn against him.
2. Probably for a couple reasons. I'm pretty sure the Fanim/Cisharum outlaw other magic, though I can't say for sure off-hand. But having the Mark of a normal sorcerer would put him on a much higher hit list in regards to enemies. And if anyone outed him, he'd at best be a blind wizard. Not to mention you can't (from what I recall) torture out the Gnosis, so he'd be stuck with Anagogic at best.
3. When? If you mean outside the Ark with his tribes, probably, if only given his reputation and the mustering of his people, though it isn't clear. He probably didn't care either way.
4. I'm not sure precisely what he was, but he couldn't see the No-god when he transformed, as others noted.

Hope this helps!

General Earwa / Re: The No-God and the 144k souls. [spoilers inbound]

(as a side speculation, since weapon races tend not have souls yet the Inchoroi do even though they themselves are referred to as being a weapon race of the Progenitors, is it possible that the Inchoroi are simply warrior-caste bodies for Progenitor souls? Or the ensouled Simas skin-spy?)
I think this seems unlikely, if only given the discussed purpose of the Inverse Fire. Which was to press the Inchoroi with their damnation into continuing their crusade for salvation. I think they were likely given souls or made with souls for that reason. At least that's how it came off to me. That's why it was 'the Goad'. The purpose was to give them extra incentive to pursue their goal.

These were all the works I could find from him.

The Amiolas
The Barricades
The Diurnal
The Immaculate Rim
Chipmunk
Hearth-cracker (and five other Cinderswords)
The Orthongonal (apparently he made five, all are noted as not having survived the ages).

The Agonic Collar - Maybe?
I saw note of Sheära, the Sun-skin, but couldn't confirm if it was from him or Mihtrûl.

Something else with a cool name made by Davdul (some man) was Tharmondal, the Sky-cleaver.
Note, though, that others have managed to create artifacts that are immune to Chorae, though how this happens isn't clear. But the text of the Orthogonal is what seems cool to me, his research into the 'Uncreated Creation'. Basically wanting to make an artifact that seemed natural. So assumedly one with no mark.
