I'd argue that silly and feminine isn't actually bad in this case. I think the Sranc are deliberately supposed to provoke a huge cognitive dissonance in observers. They're a perverse Inchoroi joke, after all. Not just a bioweapon.
Great point. Purposely juxtaposing beauty, subtly, and dare I say subtle femininity, onto the frame of the most rapacious, destructive, and demonoid animals imaginable. Strong and masculine features just wouldn't evoke the same dissonance
-
There are female Sranc. To humans, they're hard to distinguish from male Sranc. And they behave more or less the same.
It's different for Nonmen, though. To Nonmen, the only look they get at the faces of their women is when they come in howling masses to rape them to death.

I like the Spires, though same swirls as Saik ;)
Saik looked a bit too mechanical for me, more like NG than a schoolman maybe, but still pretty cool.

Wow, that last one is freakin' amazing. Is that a particular scene from the series? Drawing a blank on it but it looks awesome either way?

Always forget about "Stonebreaker" in his name. Looks more gnostic-y than the other dispensations of the Water. Still awesome though.

Very alien looking. Awesome.
-
Damn, that's brilliant man. Really unique take.
-
Aw, thank you. I wonder if this version contradicts something we know about morphology of our mischievous space oysters.
-
In my quest to draw the Inchoroi, these were the quotes I was able to find describing their physical aspect (taken from TWP and TFS):
The creature stood naked, as was his want, his wings folded into wicked hooks about either side of his great skull, which would have been cumbersome, had it not curved into a crest, narrow and deep, like an oyster set on end. A proportionate face hung from the fore, loutish with the absence of expression, nostrils drawn into shining gashes, sockets plugged with lobes of bare white meat. A second face filled the mouth, sheathing a second skull fused within the crocodilian jaws of the greater. Second eyes regarded the Hero-Mage with leering expectation. Second lips grinned about teeth like nails...
The light cast by the tripods slicked the creature in lines of luminous white, yellow and crimson, but otherwise, the intestinal translucence of its skin rendered it devoid of colour–the pallor of things drawn from the depths. Though he stood no more than half again as tall as man, he seemed enormous: for the wings, for the fiendish stoop, for the webbing of stone-dense muscle...
…his frame a sleek motley, like fish skinned and sutured together.
Eyes like bladders of ink, each reflecting the tripods across their shining curve. The fluting of gill-tissues along the neck.
Impatience in the incline of his shield-long head. Hatred in the flicker of membranes...
Aurang’s eyes flared crimson.
The Inchoroi beat his great scabbed wings,
It was half again taller than a man, with long folded wings curved like scythes over its powerful frame. Save where it was mottled by black, cancerous spots, its skin was translucent, and sheathed about a great flared skull shaped like an oyster set on edge. And within the gaping jaws of that skull was fused another, more manlike, so that an almost human face grinned from its watery features.
… then its great black eyes fell upon Aengelas.
Beaneath the monstrosity’s claws, …
… the thing pressed its bruised phallus…
Regardless, I love your take on them. Who's to say they didn't go through an iteration that looks more like yours? ;) I imagine they looked different on every world they visited.

I love that it isn't very Geiger esque and that they're just giant vaginas. Heh.

Oh, thank you for these. They will help a lot in case of future drafts.
Who's to say they didn't go through an iteration that looks more like yours? ;) I imagine they looked different on every world they visited.
Yeah, it was a main point this time; to consider their grafting lifestyle and (bakkerspoken?) aquatic origin. Like an oyster who ascends to fins and tentacles (future wings and members) to rape better & increasingly.
The Horns (again...)
Holy forgess of ssalvation!

Kind of Gothamic but very cool.
On a side note, wouldn’t it be kind of cumbersome for the Consult to navigate the Ark if it landed vertically on it’s head?

Maybe.
By the way, I recall that, in either the False Sun or the books, there is mention of “the upright horn,” which to me implied that only one of them is standing upright.

Som that Achamian is perfect for me. I know he is probably lighter skinned than Akka is portrayed in the text but my mind can't help but fill in the trope and shade Akka a bit lighter.

Took a few seconds for my eyes to resolve the image, the two side faces kind of faded in from the darkness. Pretty cool.
This one reminds of a Quya witch, and/or Mimara wielding the Gnosis with her silver halos:

Yeah this is a great piece Quin. Definitely a moment I've wanted to see some interpretations of, since it's such a "big" moment with great hints at the imagery, while remaining vague enough to leave a lot to the reader's imagination.
-
I really like "I hold the gates". It has that aesthetic that some of your art does that I really enjoy.

was spewed across the stars, was belched through their own bodies >.<
-
I think part of what that piece gets right is simply proportions. I've always thought the (modern) Inchoroi should almost like a human wearing a "helmet" and armor, in keeping with the strangely dissonant fantasy aesthetic.

Too fucking cool som. Hope we get to see that trailer soon.
As for the image, the link opens up as "shimeh-grande..." on my phone, which gives away a bit. It's at least a battle between one of kellhus' armies and one of Fanayal's, based on the visible flag and shield.
[edit] apparently its a scene from TTT, so... the battle of shimeh.
Great news :)

-

That, or complete dead-pan.
I have always imagined them, "at rest", as complete dead-pan. But, when certain emotions are felt, they would have an over exaggerated facial response to it.
-
I like the savagery of it paired with the despaired look of the "human" face there. Great work, definitely my favorite image of an Inchoroi yet.

You having some kind of feud with them or something?
Somnambulist is "responding" to this:
Saw some of that artwork on the wiki. It's not very impressive tbh. The Inchoroi look comical rather than scary. His rendition of Nonmen is more in line with how I imagined them.
I honestly find it hilarious when people find it this easy to level sweeping criticism at others.
-
I like the savagery of it paired with the despaired look of the "human" face there. Great work, definitely my favorite image of an Inchoroi yet.
Thanks, H.

This is what irked me initially. I totally get that my renditions aren't everyone's cup of tea, and to be fair, some are absolutely unimpressive. It was just his flippant declaration, like it's the easiest thing in the world. At least I'm trying, motherfucker. Anyway, like I said, it's all good in the hood.

Like the contrast of those Quinthane. We don't see a lot of relaxed sranc, I like it.

Really enjoy the artworks from both of you (and have done for a while). It adds a whole other layer to the series.
Digging the Sakarpus one, reminds me a lot of Rohan. Latest inchoroi artwork is the best representation of them I've seen so far. Nailed the head design.
Quite a throwback, but Quinthane's depiction of the Unholy Seal is one of my favorites, exactly as I imagined it.

...
hey all, since Somna is going to be doing a vid with Bakker Bro, i would like to put together a vid of Quinthane's work set to music. "Requiem for a Dream" was not brutal enough for the tastes of many Bakker fans --> what songs would say BAKKER and QUINTHANE??? please tell me because i still listend to Pearl Jam too much

Thanks, Wolfdrop.
