I'll just put this here.
I know Wilshire and I have an OST and one particular song burned into our brains from reading TUC.

It does fit pretty well for many parts of the TUC story.
-
You fucker, Hopper8r ;).
-
Whenever I read Fantasy I really enjoy listening to Christopher O'reilly's (solo, piano) Radiohead cover album, "True Love Waits"
Always seems to elevate the text.

GOTCHA!
But like Wilshire said....it is kinda fitting....until all No-God breaks loose.
Finished my first read through last night, overall, I was very pleased. I've spoilered myself nearly to death before reading, so my expectations weren't exactly set.
I can't wait for the next series....."The Absolute God"?

Actually, that song fits perfectly for when the No God shows up. Even Akka thought he was opening up an awesome link.

Lol, welcome to the Second Apocalypse, Dez.

For the End. "So did the Great Ordeal of Anisurimbor Kellhus perish in salt butchery." I think that's how it went.
I see this being a slow-mo, 300 style panning around as the sorcerers tumble as salt statues from the sky and men die at the foot of the mountains.
And pretty much anything from Two Steps from Hell is pretty epic enough to serve.

Kellhus' theme:

No Kellhus' theme is Opiate by Tool hands down
-
Bakker is a big Tool/Maynard fan. I think I'm actually going to buy him a copy of Puscifer's Money Shot for Zaudunyanicon.
-
Oh that's awesome Madness! I figured he was I wanted to ask on the AMA, but missed the chance.

I listened to this during the battle around Golgotterath. It seemed fitting

Everyone gets caught up in the world questions/answers that he's always been so hesitant to yield ;).

Great track!

Can I be an enormous philistine and recommend music from a videogame?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ok24CXsQutI
I dunno, this whole thing got stuck in my head during the Golgotterath segments.
-
Dude that boss was an asshole
-
I love video game music 8).
-
Seems to me like all the good stuff video game music-wise is East of the Atlantic though. Almost all the ones with tracks I liked were either from Japan or central or eastern Europe.

You may, good sir, you may indeed! Thinking about it, the Dark Souls/Demon Souls/Bloodborne atmospheres lend themselves quite well to this series in general...slogging through the abandoned Nonman Mansion? yup, that checks.
And speaking of Bloodborne, I think I have Cnaiur's theme...I humbly submit 'Hunt You Down'

The Dreg Heap, where the concept of "city" collapses on itself as reality falls apart, forming a tangled mass of the ruins of every city that ever existed piled on top of itself, kinda feels Bakker to me, for that matter.
-
And now the more I think about it, all the Souls games are like Serwa or Achamian walking through the ruins of the Ancient North.
And that gives us the next game in the Souls Series: Scholar of the First Sin: The Kuniuric Defilement
Opening Line: 'War, as a rule, falls within the compass of history.'
Part one: The Slog of Slogs, on the road to ruin.
Time to drink some beer and make a video game, ladies.
-
You'd have to fade to black before every death instead of right after, given what's likely killing your character.
-
And the screen "Death comes swirling down.'
I'm thinking vast, open-world, ancient Kunuric North, heading out with some scalpoli(misspelled?). Possibly perma-death, and you take over another of the scalpoli? Get too low on dudes, and you have to abandon the Slog, taking you back to a "safe" town, to recuit new dudes and start over(with what you brought back intact, of course)? Some will be traitors, or skin-spies, etc, etc.
-
I still think John Debney's soundtrack (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9KOgvV4FhfM&list=PL481D048442D4DF90&index=2) for The Passion of the Christ is a perfect fit for this series as a whole. I mean, I am emphatically not a Christian and I've never seen the movie, but that music... just damn.
Or if you prefer something with lyrics: Nightmare Heaven (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AstnopYcm44) by Arcturus and Rise of Sodom and Gomorrah (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L_NtCdMdGrg) and Black Sun (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x0qsuaahkpA) by Therion feel appropriate.

I think it would be more unique to be a Nonman hunting for memories of tragedy.

OOOOO...or it could be a game mode...Erratic Mode?

I read the Golgotterath battle while listening to this:

Palästinalied from Walther von der Vogelweide (In Extremo version).

So like The Oregon Trail but instead the more common end is raped to death by Sranc instead of plain old dysentery ;).

Ah In Extremo. I was introduced to them via a video game, too. The Gothic concert was neat.

I'm a big metal fan, and the lyrics of Deathspell Omega's newest album harmonize curiously well with some TUC imagery.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sc8OfYs-g78
Thou shalt celebrate the conception and rise
of the New Man, to whom all he eats or drinks
is propagated malediction,
a Man pregnant with infernal flame,
standing on the devastation
of all things past.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IMRPo-6MxnA
The firmament sheds scarlet tears,
dazzled by this horrendous pyre of a world,
A brazen Holocaust, brighter than a hundred suns
that slowly consumes God and Man,
trembling beside one another,
both bemoaning what could have been,
what should have been,
Yet their accusing voices sing the sound of discord
on which I feast with my baneful maw
in eternal hunger.
-
Kelmomas's song is "A Soul Divided". I was thinking about Kel/Sammi when I thought of this, but the lyrics fit more with Kel/The No God.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wMvwmYwEC7k
Remember me, your true self
It's who you must become
You and I, are one and the same
The Chosen One
Rock turn to rust
My minions rise and humanity
All turns to dust
-
Pallbearer; Sorrow and Extinction.
The grinding riffs and lyrics (http://www.darklyrics.com/lyrics/pallbearer/sorrowandextinction.html)meshed so well with TUC.
-
As I just finished TUC (Yes I'm that slow) I have to pick "Awaken from the Dark Slumber" By Wintersun. https://youtu.be/9pQvOyo1nfQ not only did the album come out just as I started TAE, making it ingrained in my head, but in this track they sing of a dark and evil being rising from a deep eternal slumber.... also mentioned is flying over ancient ruins "where old kings go to die", rising kingdoms, evil creatures that live in snowy forests, and a dark disease.... Very Bakker-esque shit. ;D
-
I, too, got back into some metal while reading TUC. And I, too, found that the lyrics which I used to find embarassing and comically dark, could totally have been written about the story.
Here's a song: Dimmu Borgir - Mourning Palace (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7ffg6S-Bq4k). (Ignore the video.)
Here's the lyrics. This song is clearly about the crimes the ordealmen commit on the field appalling, and how they're damned for it, and how they lament it afterwards. For Satan, read Ajokli. :)
Daylight has finally reached it's end
As evenfall strikes into the sky
Far away in the dark glimpsing moonlight
Sickening souls cry out in pain
Whispering voices summoning screams
Waiting for Satan to bless their sins
Blackhearted angels fallen from grace
Possessed by the search for utter darkness
Hear the cries from the Mourning Palace
Feel the gloom of restless spirits
Hear the screams from the Mouring Palace
Feel the doom of haunting chants
Eternal is their lives in misery
Eternal is their lives in grief
Abandoned in a void of nothingness
A chain of anger, a fetter of despair
In this garden of depraved beings
This unsacred place of helpless ones
Satan blessed the creatures
Inswathed them in endless night
(Also, the Dark Souls 3 soundtrack that was already mentioned. That was great.)
-
Yesssss clozee, I'm all about that Dimmu Borgir. Good pick ;D

In a desperate attempt to restart interest in this forum, I'll post an atmospheric black metal album that reminds me of TUC. The lyrics are about Franklin's Lost Expedition (an interesting and tragic story if you want to read about it). That sort of hopeless fight against the environment gives me bakker vibes:
