Funny to imagine a hardass like the Captain with purple lipstick and eye tattoos.....even Mimara is weirded out by him being "hardbitten as a desert tribesman" while being from the gayest country in the Three Seas

The Emwama were probably literal untermenschen, lol. Bred to be slaves by their amnesiac overlords.

It's interesting that Nostol's backstabbing of the Nonmen turned out to be a reaction to their horrible treatment of the Emwama slaves....we see Nostol as this shitty traitor and bad guy when we read TJE, but a chapter from Nostol's pov wouldn't be too different from those Game of Thrones scenes with Daenerys and the evil slavemasters...

Maybe, maybe not. Qirri's purpose in the story is totally different from chanv, tho. (AFAIK, chanv is only there as a cool homage to Dune and to make Iyokus a vampiric junkie.)

I dunno what the effect of Sranc-eating would be, compared to snorting Nonman-ashes...probably like paco to cocaine.

Lol, I don't understand this fixation with gritty realism. It's impossible to adapt TSA as a 'realistic' low-fantasy movie or 'gritty'soap opera like Game of Thrones, the supernatural high-fantasy stuff is absolutely vital to the plot - sorcerers, rapist aliens, nonmen, skin-spies, judging eyes, gods interfering in reality, dragons, demons, honeyed anuses, deaths swirling around, etc etc.

Why not highlight the fantastical parts?

Qirri and chanv aren't the same thing, lol.

Qirri's made of Nonmen ashes, chanv is a homage to 'Spice' from the Dune books.

I'm pretty sure that none of the Inchoroi themselves were soulless husks, just the Sranc and other bio-weapon races.

With their massively superior tech, it's not surprising that Sil went for open battle, although I can imagine what he was thinking at the end......"Oh, well, just another of those battles, our plasma cannons against spear-chucking primitives, the masturbation will be fun.....AAAAAAAGGHH, THE PRIMITIVES ARE SHOOTING ENERGY BLASTS FROM THEIR EYES, FUCK FUCK FUCK"

Sci is correct and has won the debate.

Oh, I'm sure most people are hoping that we'll find a way to stick to non-nihilism

Most people probably will. I'm fairly sure the average nihilist isn't a sociopath who lives his life entirely by moral nihilism, even though he intellectually admits that there isn't any objective morality.

Humans are moral creatures, for better or worse. It's hardwired in our system.

@SilentRoamer - Too true, I'm also thinking about what Kellhus said to his dad, that Moenghus detected the skin spies through voice.

@ Monstar - Why do you write "Kallus" instead of "Khellus"?  I don't get it!  :P

MG, why do you write "Kellhus" and "Khellus"?  I don't get it!

Garet, why are your lips still stained with my black semen? I don't get it

is capitulation all that remains for philosophy?

Yes.

What does science have to say about morality?

Nothing at all, other than showing morality doesn't objectively exist. It proves moral nihilism.

General Earwa / Re: Biblical allusions in TSA
« on: May 30, 2014, 07:45:24 pm »
The whole passage about God commanding humanity to kill the Nonmen and "burn their chariots, hamstring their horses, water the earth with the blood of the wicked" is pretty obviously inspired by the bloodier parts of the old testament, with God commanding his followers to kill the Amalekites and all that.

I want to see how the hundred gods reacted to the Inchoroi. An epic battle between the vaginal Yatwer and the pendulous phallic Inchoroi would be great.
