I don't think any Nascenti have brought this up:
There were a couple deleted scenes from TGO's bacchanal where the Mandate schoolmen believed they were Seswatha. We see it happen first with Saccarees, and then it spreads to the rest of them who have partaken of the feast. Eskales is made temporary grand-master (as was apparently planned from early on), and he is among the few who fasted rather than partake in the Meat.
The Seswatha scenes were extremely disappointing to see missing from TUC final cut.
From my reading of TUC Manuscript, I thought that Seswatha
actually reincarnated in front of our eyes. That Seswatha, be it his soul or intellect, was actually alive in Agongorea. That it was his plan all along to
actually be present at the end of the world.
Now, this really isn't the case. The text, and further clarification from Bakker, indicates that the Mandati have simply slipped wholly into madness, each of them believing that they were Seswatha.
As Madness mentioned, these scenes were taken out, but lingering sentences were left in the book. Like they took out a joke but left in the punch line. Specifically, Eskeles was emaciated (as seen by WLW-Sorweel), due to him not eating ANY sranc at all. The line, this time pre-wlw-Sorweel, from Sorweel where he mentions that there is a cure for the sranc-madness is actually the 2nd time its brought up, as the Mandate also know of this cure (though no mention of exactly what it is). I think there may be a few other 'punch lines' left in there, but thats all I can think of.
