Why didn't you create a new thread when you posted this on the other site?
Anyway, I'm sure this will include Bakker's a Crack in the Wall that he mentioned once. I wonder if it's a tsa story.
-
I was confused for a bit (I haven't had my coffee yet) but then I realized the Kickstarter doesn't start until June 15th.
Neat though, I'll back it as long as the tiers are priced reasonably.

I did the exact same thing Shut up and take my money! (http://vignette2.wikia.nocookie.net/walkingdead/images/3/3f/Shut-up-and-take-my-money.jpg/revision/latest?cb=20140829235648)
But, yeah, June 15.
Since they've got everything planned from e-books to 26 signed/limited edition, I'm guessing much of the donation tiers will be the straight cost of whatever they plan to sell it for on that particular medium. They just need to know they'll sell what they're making.
The stretch goals, LIKE HAVING SOMNAMBULIST DO INTERIOR ART, will be icing on the cake if they get a bunch of people donating above and beyond that base cost.
-
Fuck yes.
-
I am guessing this will be that short story that he alluded to on his blog all that time ago?
-
You all familiar with the other authors on there? Because the only one I've read (or even heard of) is Adrian Tchaikovsky.
-

Honestly, no, not really. I've seen Courtney Schafer's name around, but that's about it.
I think of GdM as more of a place for "up and coming" authors with the periodic appearance of the likes of Tchaikovsky/Abercrombie/etc.
But, depending on the price, I'm guessing the e-reader version will be worth the cost just for Bakker. For me at least.
Interesting to me that they call out Bakker on the cover for his story and forward. It certainly seems like Tachaikovsky would be a bigger draw.

At Westeros? I don't feel very confident about posting in Westeros. Maybe I should go find some confidence-worms and squeeze the confidence-gut-juice out of them and drink it with my face-hole
-
Wah?
-
Wah?
just having fun! were you talking about Westeros?

Yeah. It's fine mate...

I think last time MG created new threads for Grimdark Magazine's The Knife of Many Hands on Westeros, moderators closed his thread and asked him to post anything Bakker related in the perpetual Bakker thread there.
I wonder if it's an Atrocity Tale as well, Aural.

This aforementioned "Fuck yes" was in regards to Somnambulist doing interior art - let me say again, fuck yaaaasss!

I wouldn't be surprised if it is A Crack in the Wall (https://rsbakker.wordpress.com/2014/10/02/post-title/) as Aural mentioned above.

Somewhere on TPB MG had a better link explaining this - if it's not dead now (oh, so long ago). But I believe A Crack in the Wall was supposed to be part of Grim Oak Press' Unveiled anthology, a followup to another anthology, Unfettered, that was sourced originally to help pay for Shawn Speakman's cancer bills. This post (http://aidanmoher.com/blog/2014/09/news/grim-oak-press-neverlands-shadow-becomes-unveiled/) has a list of the authors appearing in the original volume and, unfortunately - because there are a handful more 'big name' authors on the original tracklist - it looks like this Grimdark anthology has replaced most of those authors with others from the "Grimdark Fiction Readers & Writers" facebook group.
There's another post (http://aidanmoher.com/blog/2014/11/news/grim-oak-press-cancels-follow-unfettered/) detailing the cancellation of Unveiled.

Lol - MG. Just keep being comfortable with yourself, whoever you are ;).

Its up and running.
"Evil is a Matter of Perspective: An Anthology of Antagonists"
Find it here (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/155719766/evil-is-a-matter-of-perspective-an-anthology-of-an)
About 50% funded and it hasen't even been 24 hours. I really, really hope this works out.
-
Well, I added my little bit. Real shame about shipping though and I'd rather give that money to the anthology efforts even if it means sacrificing a physical copy.
-
Some cool perks, including some authors who will review your story, or write your into one of their shorts.
Also, there's about 10 lettered editions left.
Shipping sucks, but that's life. International book shipping is expensive as hell. Their prices are reasonable. Unfortunately high, but reasonable.
Also, this topic might should be in General Misc or Literature, as its mroe specifically about the anthology itself rather than bakker's story within. Just thoughts. Seems it was moved.
Just 1 lettered edition left. All gone!
-
It's costing more to ship the book than it does for me to get TGO sent by express courier from Canada.
I might just donate some Aussie Dollars since the exchange rate is favourable to me, then buy the book independently when it comes out. Probably work out cheaper.
-
It might not be any cheaper for shipping later. This is why publisher have UK and/or European publishers, and US publishers, because shipping sucks.
Campaign is looking strong so far, I'm excited. Favorable exchange rate is a nice plus :), even better for you I think
-
Its sitting right at 75% right now. With all the big perks gone it may be a bit of a slog to get to 100%. Seems that most people are either going ebook or Hardback, which averages at about $30 per backer. So, to get fully funded, that means they need about 165 more backers. Put another way, that means they need about 30% more of about 450 total.
450 backers is past the 2nd stretch goal, so my guess is that if this gets funded, then backers will get the first 4 GdM publications free, as well as the additional Novella and Novelette by Matthew Ward
-
I just donated $12, ebook is all I need.
-
I just donated $12, ebook is all I need.
You get nothing if it doesn't get funded ;).
-
Well the money doesn't come out my account until it does get fully funded, correct?
-
Correct. You can change your pledge up until the day the kickstarter ends, which is July 14th. No charges are made before its over.
If it doesnt reach its goal, no one gets charged anything. No books are made, and another Bakker short gets lots to the void.
-

I might throw in a little more if it looks like they might not make the goal. I doubt that though. I think they'll make it.

Indeed.
-
Apparently, getting the whole first year of GdM was a 350 backer milestone, which then includes The Knife of Many Hands in addition to the new Atrocity Tale in the anthology - incentive for anyone who has not yet read KOMH.
-

Well its funed now, and it took 450 backers :P .

Somnambulist interior art incoming!!!

I haven't even backed yet, I am a chronic-late-backer historically. I'll get around to it before it ends though.

Well, you've been on Griswold Family Vacation for how many days now ;).

Well, you've been on Griswold Family Vacation for how many days now ;).
Haha, it was a week and a half. We're back now, but now I need a vacation from my vacation...
-
Well then, quick, back it!
-
New achievement unlocked. All stories will have interior art by Somnambulist. Including the Bakker story, of course.
-
Yeah, I'm super excited about that.
Congratulations again, Somnambulist. Many successes recently :)!
-
Thanks, man. Where's the 'raises a beer glass' emoji? That should be a thing.
-
I was confused for a second because I swore MSJ posted the 🍻 in this thread.
I also did not realize that I could copy and paste emoticons, though, now I recall we once talked about adding more to ours repertoire.
But cheers, Som 🍻 :) !

Does anyone know if the RSB story is a TSA story or not??!

Does anyone know if the RSB story is a TSA story or not??!
Yes. It follows a minor character that's in The Great Ordeal. I forget his name at the moment though.

Thanks MSJ. Have you read TGO??
-
Yes sir, I have. The best so far, IMHO. He packs so much meaning into each paragraph, sentence and even word, I can't wait for the 12th so I can start a re-read. Blackstone was kind enough to lend me his ARC and I sent it on as soon as I finished. Its amazing.
-
How is the Momemn storyline?? I have been a bit discouraged about it after reading Pat's comments.

I'll just say that at this point in the series, nothing disappoints me. Others have been critical, but as much time I have invested in these books, it delivers on every level. I can't complain, just want more and more and more. I'm a fanboy, I know. Lol. ;)

Personally I have never been disappointed by anything about the series.

Then nothing will disappoint you about this. Have no fear, Redeagl!!!!!!!!!

Kickstarter (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/155719766/evil-is-a-matter-of-perspective-an-anthology-of-an) has about 24 hours left.
So far, in addition to the original anthology that includes some 16 stories and Somnambulist's interior art, you'll get 8 more short stories, the first 8 publications of Grimdark Magazine (which probably each have an additional dozen stories), and Blackguards (which is its own anthology).
All that for a measly $12 (thats australian dollars) pledge, which gets you the ebook and all the extras.
Paperback is $30 and hardcover is $50. Shipping for international (outside USA) is pricy so keep that in mind if you want to place your pledge.
-
That's a lot of swag :o !
-
Whoops, thanks for posting, nearly forgot to back.
The prices are actually lower than you posted, because the Kickstarter page is in Australian dollars.

Yep, one of my many reading fails lately, haha.

Lol. Welcome to my world. Though I usually start arguing with someone over something I read/heard wrong. That's a red face moment.

Well, I saw his post, read the first sentence, thought "oh, crap, I didn't do that yet!" then went and ordered it. Came back, read the last sentence and decided to put in my dumb comment, haha.
It's going to be at least a few months until I am my more usual slightly-less-than-totally-brain-dead state.
-
Distribution begins! (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/155719766/evil-is-a-matter-of-perspective-an-anthology-of-an/posts/1870856)
-
Unless someone got a lettered signed edition. Those poor fools still have to wait a few months.
-
Looks like the anthology is popping up on Amazon and other book retailers online with a July 16th release date (at least on Amazon.com).
I'm glad the general book-buying public will get a chance to get their hands on this after the Kickstarter campaign.
-
Shipping update! (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/155719766/evil-is-a-matter-of-perspective-an-anthology-of-an/posts/1883240)
Also, apparently you can preview the anthology (https://www.kobo.com/us/en/ebook/evil-is-a-matter-of-perspective), including the entirety of Bakker's opening essay on "Evil is a Matter of Perspective."
-
E-books away! (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/155719766/evil-is-a-matter-of-perspective-an-anthology-of-an/posts/1889161)
I'm fairly sure every backer level on the first scale got the preceding backer levels: if you ordered the paperback or hardcover, you probably have an e-book waiting for you!
-
Wasn't "around" last year when you all were talking about this ... thing. Is it any good?
-
It's available to the public soon (links (http://www.second-apocalypse.com/index.php?topic=2156.msg33282#msg33282) - don't scroll down for fear of spoilers). I haven't read any of the shorts except Bakker's yet.
-

Hard copies aren't all out yet, though the electronic copy is available.
Its an anthology, so its a book made of a bunch of short stories. If you're into that kind of thing, I'm sure it'll be fine.
Haven't read the RSB story yet, but I assume it'll be along the lines of The Knife of Many Hands, which is a short story he published with Grimdark Magazine in 2 parts. You can get it if you buy the two magazines that its in, which will cost you like $3.
-
Goodreads giveaway! (https://www.goodreads.com/giveaway/show/240288-evil-is-a-matter-of-perspective-an-anthology-of-antagonists) 5 copies! US only! Ends June 28th
-
I have received my hard copies, looks good. :)
-
So, turns out the person who was supposed to mail most of the books just didn't bother to. (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/155719766/evil-is-a-matter-of-perspective-an-anthology-of-an/posts/1963971)
So, we should get our books pretty soon now...
-
Yeah that's a damn shame. I think GdM was going to use the profits to run GdM for the next year or two. After this, they might be in the red for the whole project, all because the person they trusted to mail their stuff simply didn't and then lied to them about it.
What did he think, that people wouldn't notice? Such a shame. I feel bad for the folks at GdM.

Apparently the guy has...problems...whatever that really means, I'm not sure (seems he was in bad financial state). I guess he actually thought he could make off with some of the product? No clue what the hell he thought he could do with it all though...sell it on eBay or something?
From what I can tell by a few comments, I don't think the project went into the red, but this surely means it won't be much in the black.
-
Is there some other reliable option to read the RSB story - and paying for it, of course?

Well, of course you can just buy it on Amazon.com (https://www.amazon.com/dp/0648010570).
-
Ok, thanks.
I will try Amazon again, though I am fucking tired of them (specially amazon.es).
As we say, "Señor, dame paciencia".

There is also Barnes and Noble (https://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/evil-is-a-matter-of-perspective-adrian-tchaikovsky/1126371186?type=eBook), but it's more expensive and I don't even know if they have an international site.
-
Kindle version is available as well. If you're just looking to grab it just for Bakker's story you might want to go for that ($8 USD on amazon.com).
-
I see. I've just read for free the Prologue (by Bakker). Maybe I try the kindle version but I am a fucking addict of printed books so...

Oh me too. But its only a few pages, $20 or thereabouts is a lot to pay for a few pages of Bakker. Granted, I bought the signed limited edition version so you know which side of the fence I sit on ;)

That joke we had in another thread about them all sitting in a pile somewhere doesn't seem so funny anymore.

Well, it wasn't really a joke, especially since I said it as mine was part of the pile...
But all is well that ends well. (Not really, but it's a book and so it's not really a big deal.)
-
I finally got my hardcover in this past Friday.
-
Congrats :) . One more to add to the collection.
