Just saying: I'm loving this denomination. It could be a black metal band  ;D

Something I missed in the first read-through: In the first chapter, Serwa recalls Seswatha wearing the Amiolas three times. She calls Immiricas' soul "the Goad" to remind the one wearing it of Hate. It therefore seems to fulfil the same function as the Inverse Fire, while at the same time referencing Ajokli.
No exact idea what this means though.

I'm surprised people think RSB is referring to an actual boat. Surely it's just a figure of speech.

It wouldn't be the first time in history that a literal interpretation gives an actual hint ;)

I don't have my TGO copy with me just now, but maybe there's something on Kellhus's monologue/ speech on the ship built by the just before Dagliash that we've missed? Anyway, I'll have a look when I'm home.

The Unholy Consult / Re: The Mysunsai and the Red Ghoul

Though part of me thinks Sujara-nin attacked him because he had the symbol of the Mikka on his robes. While Sujara's actions as a sorcerous mercenary inspired the Mysunsai, the Mikka themselves were formed as a result of his "predations", making me think they were in opposition to him.

He sees the Compass, remembers fighting them and flips, killing Guswuran.

I got the part where he was surprised that three Halaroi were suddenly far within his wards due to him having lost himself in his rage.
He then instantly recognizes the Compass as a threat, but I missed why he went nuts because of it.
It was clearly because of an association he could still make in his unraveling mind, but I didn't quite figure out why.
The whole passage was rather confusing.
I'd either go for the "He remembered fighting them" (but I find this less likely), or for the "Kill/ Sacrifice the ones you love to remember once more" that we got during the Akka-Nil'Giccas and Oirunas-Oinaral fights.

Akka discovers Seswatha was a weapon constructed by the Consult after the First Apocalypse all along.

My only problem with that interpretation is that Harapior warned her not to try and cant with the Collar on after she'd proved torture didn't work on her, after all the singing and the other Nonmen saying that she tormented him. He still seemed to think the Collar would kill her if she used sorcery, even though he absolutely knew that pain had no hold over her. To me, that implies that merely being able to ignore pain shouldn't normally protect against an Agonic Collar, and that Serwa had to do something else (that Harapior could not conceive of) to defeat it.

It's a shame her showing her father's dread portion happens off screen.

Kellhus, Shauriatis, Halos, Fanimry. All fucking amazing.

If you guys ever want to do this in the UK, I'm in!

Same here: The UK would require lot less planning ahead than Canada  ;D

The Unholy Consult / Re: [TUC Spoilers] Serwa and Kelmomas

Hi Ordealpeople

Since it come up in this thread & in lieu of starting a new one, anyone have any ideas how Kelmomas physically got into the Golden Room? I know it's been discussed the Serwë skinspy snatching him up some point, which I don't remember happening. Barring that, my assumption is he was trailing in Ajokis' footsteps, and can just move about Narindar-like because he's the No-God.  Or something like that.

Hi Fellow-Slogger,

Kelmomas was led by a Skin-spy, who know the lay of the land and the Ark. I assume they used the tunnels under the Occlusion, after which, as the Skin-spy knows the Ark, it took Kel up to the Golden Room.
That's a good one. I totally zapped the tunnels Achamian travels in his dreams while accompanying Nau-Cayuti, aka the No-God... Which seems so obvious now that you mention them.

My opinion is that he just walked in via the front gate.
We get the shot where the young Ainoni knight is about to enter the Ark and faces Skuthula. The description we get when he arrives is that the gate is open. I think Kel walked in either right before or after him, since the next people to arrive at that point see a closed gate.

The Unholy Consult / Re: [TUC Spoilers]QUESTION: Mimara's Child/Children
« on: August 14, 2017, 04:57:44 pm »
I think the child was stillborn because the No God was resurrected in between the two births.

The NG didn't come about until after both births. The "dread" or  whatever it's called wasn't present until *after* the carapace descends from the Horn and after Mimara looks on it with the Eye, so it didn't cause the still birth.

I was tempted to go both ways here, and I was leaning towards the NG being the cause while reading, as it would serve the narrative well. But I have to agree with Yellow.

Nice post,  Mandos
In that light there's also still the Nonman song about the 99 living as gods which remains unresolved. The numbers 99 and 100 seem to have some meaning.

Soma sensed the stench of 3 in Mimara's urine, IIRC. It's in TWLW somewhere.

From the very first mention in the book, I've always read the Nail of Heaven to be an equivalent of the Polestar/ Polaris, the way it's used in navigation.

So, basically, perception of gods is akin to nonmen erraticism, but on a larger-than-whale-moms metaphysical scale.
Being broken things, they are especially reduced by perfection (you can't say all-seing without saying all).

I was going to draw the parallel with the Four Revelations appendix based on Merch's first reply. It's an interesting idea.
