The Great Ordeal / Re: [TGO SPOILERS] Music for TGO

It's really soft, but this song's lyrics seem stolen from the text!

sounds like Serwa.
Or a song a zaudunyani would sing.

When the morning comes and I wake up miles away,
Any other day it's all the same, all the same
With the rising sun there's a hunger born again,
Oh oh oh put out the flame, put out the flame
And the shortest road to the sunset doesn't turn,
It's what I gotta learn every day, every day
Just a few more miles to the point of no return,
Oh oh oh the way is plain, the way is plain

Oh love you gimme what I need
You take like a one armed bandit
Oh be my strength, be my portion
Oh love you gimme what I need
To live by your one commandment
Oh be my strength, be my portion

Take away my prize so I never have to lose,
Never gonna lose or play the game, play the game
Take away desire so I never have to choose

With all this useful decapitation happening (including even Bakker's latest Atrocity Tale), his comment regarding Kosoter is very interesting.

I simply took him to mean that Sarl still had a role to play at some point (now obviously in TNG rather than TAE).
The latest Atrocity Tale was in the Evil is a Matter of Perspective collection, no? Any links to buy that?

I missed that entry.  It just seems like another seed he's scattered to be picked up later in the No-God.

The Unholy Consult / [TUC Spoiler] Heron Spear?
« on: August 01, 2017, 01:47:36 pm »
So, what' the consensus- are there two weapons of light, or one, and is it (are they) lost or not?
"A line of luminous red flickered from the thigh of the Upright Horn to the termite confusion below. “That is the sign!” his false mother cried—and in Sheyic, no less. The assembled Chieftains scowled for incomprehension. “The Holy Spear of Sil!”

"A light miraculously unpolluted by sorcery’s Mark … a killing light. Tekne. “What is it?” Mimara cried. “The Heron Spear?” Could it be? No. The Heron Spear had frequented too many Dreams for him to mistake it.
“The colour is wrong …” A different Inchoroi weapon of light? A different Spear?"

Or are the dreams misleading?

[EDIT Madness: Title.]

Oh and we are all just pretending the pandering Cunny loving 100 foot Dragon dialogue wasn't there, right? Because it felt like Scott was talking to his critics from the first firestorm he became embroiled in, with the feminists.
I've actually read that moment as quite epic. And funny, which did not diminish its darkness in any way. I even specifically cited it to one of my friends.
Yeah, I loved this scene.  Great playing with the trope.  I mean really, if medieval dragons of the type St.George was slaying captured virgins, and could talk, I'm sure they would not swear. Yeah, right.   Dragons are creatures of the darkness and depraved. The fact that so many are taken aback at the c- word...

If I ever saw a "the logos has no beginning or end..." bumper sticker, I might have to rear- end that car just to talk about the books.  ;)

pirating is the worst. Sorry to hear that, Scott. Me and many of my indie author friends have all had our work pirated, too. The thing is, it's hard to tell if that's really your book there or if they've just pulled your book off amazon and are really hosting malware or other destructive programs to scam you because you often have to download their software first. Really foul ones sell the ebooks like they're a legit site but probably are stealing your credit card information in the process.

The click bait stuff I don't worry about too much for this very reason, but this was a site with my whole book available to read online. Little&Brown, I find, is pretty good at policing this stuff though. Still one has to wonder for the future. We had friends over a few nights ago who laughed that I would be so stupid to buy Bluerays for things that were free. Its got to the point where I'm apologizing for taking intellectual property seriously.

Well, I'm trying. Like Curethan, I bought both the e book and hardcover, and will probably get a paperback before it's all over. And I buy used copies whenever I can to have them around the classroom for any likely adherents. And like you, I am laughed at for paying full price for music.
Hopefully the moral actors can outweigh the wayward. And I really hope you're making a living off of these books. Cause the meat is tasty, and I am not yet sated.

The Unholy Consult / Re: Ranking the books after TUC
« on: July 30, 2017, 05:35:17 am »
Gotta flip it...
1. TJE
4. WLW
meh I can't even do it ...the first series is so iconic... I still shiver remembering reading about Cnaiur for the first time... but TJE is def my fave for its adherence and subversion of Tolkien. The last two were so stunning, that I can't help but rank them highly, but so many of them I havre to take together.

"Four lights became three.
Now it was the Mandate Schoolmen who raced toward them, fleeing whatever had extinguished the light of their two comrades. “Runnn!” one of them urged the mundane company. To a man they obliged, for what a sorcerer fled, only a fool would dare.
Mirshoa, however, remained."

Foolish balls of steel. Mirshoa was bold. Plus, the only Tall in the book, obviously an erratic, with a Cudgel, turned to the consult... but I wish there'd been 20 more pages of Mirsh swirling some death down with a cindersword before he gets snakebit.

Their ability to resurrect the Tenke, via a nuke.

There'll be no circumfixing of anyone, thank you very much.

But i went and got my pitchfork
Circumfixtion for one who isn't Zaudunyani?
We don't harvest the meat with pitchforks, now do we? Well, maybe it is a useful tool for stacking...
I think Bakker's got humanity pegged.

Stow it, you two ;).

Everyone is allowed to express their opinion here. What we aren't going to do, collectively, is allow opinions worth challenging go unchallenged. But there's a wide mile between conversing and curcumfixing.

Haha, sorry madness, just trying to prove Bakker's point re: mob violence, online or otherwise. Just like when he waded into gamer gate and was attacked from both sides, here we are about to scourge a person who has read the books! And that's always my first goal. Read it. Then judge.

Wait, the Mutilated are the sons of Imimorul? Also, such a bummer about the lost posts...
No, he's referring to Ciogli's second question.  Also, the Mutilated might actually be Kellhus's literal brothers. We know that Kellhus is a prodigy among the Dûnyain, and the only other Dûnyain survivors we see also happen to be Anasûrimbors. Coincidence? Maybe, maybe not...

Bummer about the lost answers, Bakker. Is there a planned date for the AMA yet?
I thought about it- if the Mutilated were one of his actual brothers, they'd have no need for an anasurimbor to start the No-God.  I don't see them holding back their own lives in the face of obtaining the Absolute.
But I still want to know which one is the Pragma!

But now Bakker has spoken and confirmed that we will have more qirri, yeah, more books, so I'm so fucking relieved that nothing can bother me.

Whoa, did I miss something? I saw the Q&A thread, but the only thing I saw him mention was that the series has a lot going against it commercially. That and a few bits and pieces about the new series, but no confirmation that they would absolutely happen.

Tell me I missed something!

Just that he's writing it.-
