Never thought of that. Now that you mention it, probably likely. Hard to say who the hell he is referring to when he uses pronouns, and reader bias would lead us to fill in the gap with the obvious choice  of humans rather than considering the erratic's though patterns and considering other possibilities.

The Warrior-Prophet / Re: His PROOF...
« on: May 08, 2013, 11:02:43 pm »
His proof of being a god? No, he doesn't need some dumb hot chick walking behind him with a card that says "i'm with the God" in order for him to make people believe. He doesn't really need mundane proof in that way.

I'd say that if you want her to be his proof, it would have to be more metaphysical: er innocence and dedication leading to his eventual (if not momentary) divinity. Not sure if thats what you meant, but there is no mundane/worldly reason I can see that he would need more proof than his own words.

Or, if you think Kellhus is bat-shit crazy, then I suppose its possible he wanted a blond bombshell at his side always telling him how awesome he was. Crazy Kellhus would have a big... ego... and he would also like people to stroke it...

Maybe, the only issue it that she sees flames and halos and shit. A lot of the other descriptions I could see fitting into some emotional reading of Kell's 'vision' though. An interesting idea.

Maggot? :( that is a sad name for a baby.
Celmoman prophecy specifically dictates that Seswatha's passing is the end of the world, right? So that leads me to a few conclusions.
All of the schoolmen with Seswatha in them die, then the end of the world is neigh. That means, now, that all of the Mandati and Swali would have to be wiped out. Could be possible, but I don't see that happening until golgotterath, Kellhus has big plans for the Swali at least.
Though if that did happen, and then Akka also died, that would be the end of Seswatha.
Or, maybe the baby is Seswatha and will be born about the same time that all the schoolmen are killed, leaving only 1 Seswatha... but that sounds more like a Harbinger kind of thing.

I have no clue really, but one thing is for sure, that baby is going to be important.

General Earwa / Re: Prince(s) of Nothing

Also, in the Inverse Fire, Aurang is described as the Prince of the Inchoroi, which to me is another Prince of Nothing.

The point being that based on the loose rules we have been following, i.e that the threads per subforum are assumed non-spoiler up to the reading of that book, that many of the discussion we've had should go to WLW. For example, in the Thousandfold Thought subforum, all discussion of the books up to the end of TTT is fair game, but anything after is considered a spoiler in that instance.

I wouldn't want to stumbled onto TUC spoilers in TUC subforum when reading through our old posts. I think it makes sense to move most of the posts from TUC to WLW.

As far as misc. chatter section goes, I always thought that was a no-holds-barred arena, enter at your own risk. I'd say leave the misc. chatter stuff alone...

"Who are you to condemn?” Shaeönanra cried in the mock way of too-learned Men. “The Schools have no stake in Nonman wars.”

This much was true. The Siqu were loathe to speak of the War–even Cet’ingira, who had led the Mangaecca to the Ark and the revelation of the Xir’kirimakra. Their feud with the Inchoroi was theirs and theirs alone, so much so they denied their Mannish pupils all but the most elliptical knowledge of it.

But Titirga frowned as if at a tiresome juvenile. “Who are you to decide our stake?"

Then later:
Quote
A flush of horror. Shaeönanra tensed against the sudden loosening in his bowel, not quite believing that the Inchoroi had dared name it aloud. Xir’kirimakra. The Inverse Fire.

So I guess I didn't fully understand this before, but Xir’kirimakra is another name for the Inverse Fire. Cet'ingira was one of the Three, the name given to the 3 nonmen who entered the ark and stumbled upon the IF. The other two where presumably killed for being mad, but what of Cet'ingira? He told Nil'Giccas to kill the others, but for what purpose? To hide the truth of the IF revelations?

But then why was he the one trying to destroy the Barricades? Why lead the Mangaecca to the IF if he was trying to suppress its nature before?

I'm confused. Anyone want to offer some relief to my ignorance?

The Thousandfold Thought / Re: Favorite Scenes

Though I didn't, or couldn't, grasp the awesomeness on my first read, looking back at the Inrau death scene is awesome. He's a bloody ninja, using his magic to move at lightning speeds, punching through chests with his hands, refusing to die un-witnessed and throwing himself off the balcony to try and save his doomed master. And the pillar he followed with his hand, down to the ground.
Amazing.

The Thousandfold Thought / Re: Cnaiurs understanding of Kelhus
« on: May 06, 2013, 07:17:47 pm »
If thats the case, Cnaiur probably didnt know what he was after at this point. Just some entity that had the Name he was seeking for all these years. Didn't help that it was his son... Did Moe Sr. has blue eyes? Poor Cnaiur was just confused as hell.

The Thousandfold Thought / Re: Moenghus is a lying liar who lies

Sigh. Leaving a big post and then not getting any replies makes me think I'm crazy. Talking to myself. Maybe I shall work harder to create misery. Misery makes memories, memories make sane.

(prior to this, Cnaiur noted that the Holy War + Kiyuth would make it effortless for Kellhus to travel the entire Steppe to Shimeh if he so desired, then Kellhus makes a mistake after this in the chapter by thinking that Cnaiur has told him that the pilgrimmage routes to Shimeh are closed by the holy war, so it seems that the path Kellhus took was unexpected, and it wasn't until this quoted moment that TTT took a new form):

I don't recall that at all. Any chance you could point me to where he says that. I always thought that the Holy War made the path to shimeh impossible since the south would no longer accept pilgrims.

Quote from: lockesnow
And it is after this that he decides the very un-Dunyain approach that he must seize total and absolute control of the Holy War: Kellhus the mighty gorilla roars his challenge and beats his chest (and this thought all falling after Cnaiur keeps mating by being the big gorilla).

Hmm, I don't see that perspective. One of the founding Dunyain principals is that you must control your circumstances or they control you. It is not unlikely, but rather inevitable, the he concludes that he will seize the Holy War.

Moenghus correctly predicts that he will not go straight to Shimeh and that he will have to seize control of the War, or at least that is what he tells us. I see nothing here that says this is where TTT changes, that Kellhus did anything unusual, or that Kellhus is nothing but a good Dunyain outcast.

General Earwa / Re: The Circuit of Seswatha and Achamian

What makes akka the final resting place? The Grasping has continued after akka's departure, if not with the Mandate (since we don't know if they have any new members I guess) but for sure with the Witches. There is a whole circuit of people who have absorbed some portion if Seswatha.

BTW it must be something strange to be thrust into the body of the opposite gender ever night and wake up the opposite again every morning. Wonder if that affects the dreams and their effect of the dreamer.

The City and the City, China Mieville. Not normally a fan of the genere but I rather enjoyed Perdido Street Station, so I'm giving this one a whirl.

Yeah I thought you might like that. I'd always interested in talking about dune/TSA stuff.
