TDTCB expanded glossary? [Q&A]

(1/3) > >>

Cüréthañ:
So I was practicing googlomancy today and inadvertently downloaded a word doc copy of TDTCB.
I mean this literally - I was trying to find my way to a wikia page :p ... bam; unintentional piracy download.

But anyway... there were several appendix entries on it that my paperback copy lacks.
There's a lot of extra entries and interesting stuff about languages in it.
I'm wondering if this is something official that was in the hardback or some other edition?

Wilshire:
Below text below contains no story spoilers.
(click to show/hide)I have 4 different versions of TDTCB published in different years, and all of them have the exact same page count, and the exact same glossary, though all of mine are USA editions (unproofed paperback, first edition/printing hardcover, USA lage edition paperback, and USA small edition paperback. Did the file have any indication of when it was last edited, or when it was produced?

The other option option is that the one that you previously had might have been defective in some way. Does your actual copy have "The Major Languages and Dialects of Earwa", or is that missing? All my copies have the glossary from page 580 - 589, with 589 being about 1/3 of the page and ending with: Cinculic - Undeciphered tongue of the Inchoroi. If your TDTCB does not have 577 pages of text and the glossary from 580-589, then you have been missing something all this time

Cüréthañ:
Thanks, Wilshire.

(click to show/hide)It's a 1st ed British printing - 2005.
644 pages.
Only a 4 page Glossary in a different order and lacking several entries - the Languages section entirely.
Makes me wonder if anything else has been edited.  :-\

Wilshire:
(click to show/hide)Looks like they resized some of the pages at least. I would be very surprised if anything else was missing, but I this would be paranoid about it.

(click to show/hide)Speaking of paranoid, why are we using spoiler tags to talk about page sizes?

I don't get it.
