Author Q&A / Your suffering, Seswatha, is my salvation
« on: July 12, 2016, 08:09:01 pm »
When Cet'ingira / Mekeritrig says this to Seswatha, what does he mean?

This line suggests one possibility to me, that the consult might be taking on an agricultural role for the gods: nurturing anguish, degradation and suffering--such as Mekeritrig's wall of horror at Dagliash--in order to better slake the endless hungers of the Starving Sky and divert hungry attentions away from themselves.

Is Mekeritrig laboring for salvation in such a manner, if not, how does he believe his labors are directed in the cause of his own salvation?

Author Q&A / Ancient. Deeper. New.
« on: July 09, 2016, 01:04:54 am »
Quote
But the plate had changed all too quickly. To realize that the Cishaurim were but a mask for a far more ancient foe. To come so very close, only to discover their sublime deceptions subverted by something deeper. Something new. The Dûnyain. There was more to this than a son hunting for his father—far more. Their devious methods and disconcerting abilities aside, these Dûnyain were Anasûrimbor. Even without the Mandate prophecies, enmity was a fact of their accursed blood. Who was this Moënghus? And if his son could seize the armed might of the Three Seas in a single year, what had he accomplished in thirty? What awaited the Holy War in Shimeh?

It is possible I am totally misreading this, but can you clarify the various subjects in this passage? It seems as though Aurang is talking about discovering an ancient foe, and context suggests the dunyain are that foe, as he's discovered moenghus, but he describes the dunyain as something new which quite naturally means he is not talking about the dunyain as the ancient foe,

And the use of ancient is interesting, because he has just made a context of his life far surpassing the mere millennia on earwa, so it doesn't seem that he would append the label ancient to the anasurimbor either they're new relative to his immortal frame.

So, in referring to the discovery of an "ancient foe" is Aurang referring to the dunyain, to the anasurimbor, or to a third party?

Such a WALL has been [leveled]!

the number one question amidst discussion so far is:

1. How does Kellhus know what the after-effects of the tekne device explosion will be?

additional questions I have:

2. Did Aurang trigger the tekne device when he overflew the Horde?

3. If the device exploded at Dagliash, on the north western side of the mountains, how come it eradicated the Sranc horde which was mostly on the eastern side of the mountains at that time, but not the Great Ordeal mostly on the western side of the mountains?

4. Was Kellhus deliberately seeking out the device when he uncovered it?

5. Does the device have a digital readout display?

6. How come Kellhus can read what was written on the device? (if he did in fact read what was written on the device)

7. Why was such a device not used at a far more fortuitous location or time?  Is there a reason the party which triggered the device waited until Dagliash?

8. Was the tekne device an atomic weapon?

9. Was the tekne device of Consult origins, or some other party?

10. How did Kellhus know the tekne device would explode?

Author Q&A / [TGO SPOILERS] Who writes the rules of sorcery?

If the world is a game whose rules are written by the God, and sorcerers are those who cheat and cheat, then who has written the rules of sorcery?
—ZARATHINIUS, A DEFENCE OF THE ARCANE ARTS

Did the gods write the rules of sorcery to allow sorcerers to "cheat and cheat" because sin tastes good and sorcery sin tastes especially good?

Do these two things go together?

Quote
Rage--Goddess! Sing of your flight,
From our fathers and our sons.
Away, Goddess! Secret your divinity!
From the conceit that makes kings of fools
From the scrutiny that makes corpses of souls.
Mouths open, arms thrown wide, we beseech thee:
Sing us the end of your song.
Quote
They did hoist Anarlû’s head high,
And poured down its blood as fire.
And the ground gave forth many sons,
Ninety nine who were as Gods,
And so bid their fathers
Be as sons…

TGO ARC Discussion / [TGO SPOILERS] Salt
« on: June 21, 2016, 07:24:48 pm »
Salt makes food taste good.

Damnation tastes good to the gods.

Sorcerers are damned.

Sorcerers become salt when struck by a chorae.

They become salt because it's a physical manifestation of the tasty qualities of damned sorcerers that the gods experience.

the god's subjective perception, "mmmm DELICIOUS!" is objectively rendered by the chorae by transforming the sorcerers into salt within the world

Author Q&A / [TGO SPOILERS] Cûnuroi

Do you have a system and method for organizing the naming conventions or inventing names for the enormous amount of Cûnuroi names?

I very much enjoyed the epic catalog of non-men during Sorweel's first audience with the Nin-Ciljiras.

Author Q&A / The God of Negative Theology
« on: April 19, 2016, 05:55:54 pm »
Was your invention of the No God related to the philosophical concept, The God of Negative Theology.

If so, how do you think your use of the No God, explores, proves, disproves or illustrates aspects of the philosophical discussion around The God of Negative Theology?

How come the philosophers called it the God of Negative Theology instead of the Goddess of Negative Theology? Is it because they were all horribly sexist actors within a sexist mileau acting out the assumptions of a sexist culture?

What do you think about the Goddess of Negative Theology? Has a nice ring to it, don't you think? Sort of creates a gendered negation of the assumed male-ness of the JudeoChristian God, doesn't it?
