The Unholy Consult / Re: [TUC Spoilers]The IncĂ»-Holoinas

Maybe slightly off topic but  the question that I have is that how do we know that the world can but shut from the Outside?

Apparently the Ichoroi have travelled to many worlds, laid them all to waste to no avail.

Then they crash land on this new planet, the promised land, which despite their best efforts has not been closed yet.

We only have their words for it.  Even if the magic number is achieved, what happens once the population grows again?

My suspicion is that they are all mistaken. There is no salvation, there is no escape from the ultimate reality of the outside and the Inchoroi have bled worlds for nothing.

Well, they are at least able to shut the entrance with the No-God (entrance shut=no new souls=babies stillborn). So, logically it should also be possible to shut the exit when the souls go to the Outside.

Which actually makes me wonder. Where do the souls come from? The No-God closes the "gateway" which new souls come from, why can'tot close the exit? IOf the No-God closed BOTH the entry and the exit, then there would be no need for genocide.

The Unholy Consult / Re: Thoughs post-AMA slog

After Scott's AMA (where he states quite clearly that Kellhus is dead, to stop Resumption was his goal and that TTT has run its course) I realize that I probably overestimated Kellhus. Up until now I thought all of this must be part if some convoluted Masterplan, that Kellhus who has conquered the Three Seasons and always seems to know what's going on couldn't fail so spectacularly.

What I forgot is that Kellhus has not reached the Absolute and is not a self-moving soul. He has extraordinary abilities but he is still not free from the darkness that comes before. And as he himself admits, the closer he comes to Golgotterath, the greater the darkness.

So they saw no utility in recruiting more human sorcerers? Plus I figured, y'know, they can make immortal skin-spies, so it was entirely possible they could preserve people better now.

Well, how could they? The North is a barren wasteland and the rest of the world fears and hates the Consult. And it's not common knowledge what their goal was with genocide and the No-God, to any sorcerer of the Three Seas thinking if joining the Consult would be insane plus that everyone except the Mandate thought them dead.

Long before TUC I thought that the Consult we would meet would be much reduced compared to what they were during the apocalypse. The war made the North a barren wasteland, so where would the Consult find recruits and resources? Sranc are no engineers, and even if Shauritas managed to keep his soul from Hell it is not as if he is any position to do any actual work/research. That leaves the Consult with increasingly insane Erratics as their main force.

The Unholy Consult / Re: [TUC Spoilers]Fatal flaw of Dunyain philosophy?
« on: August 02, 2017, 10:07:34 pm »
There are many flaws to Dunyain philosophy. One however that strikes me as very glaring after TUC is "that what comes after cannot determine what comes before". I don't remember exactly where is is stated, but the Dunyain believe in strict causality, something that is not true on Eearwa.

Well, if the end of the Thousandfold Thought as interpreted by Kellhus was "let's just get Ajokli to the Golden Room so he can kick some ass" then I am thoroughly disappointed. Not much of a plan, and certainly not anything like TTT as envisioned by Moenghus Sr. It can't have been even similar since Moenghus didn't believe in damnation.

Was there ever a TTT after the death of Moenghus? Or did Ajokli claim Kellhus already at the circumfixion, had Moenghus killed and everything after has really been about the ascension of Ajokli?

The Unholy Consult / Re: [TUC SPOILERS] The Carapace & The No-God

What I find a bit confusing is why this entity, the No-God, does the bidding of the Consult. Once manifested it seems to be completely independent, not something that can be ordered around or even reasoned with. So why does it take the Weapon Races and go on a rampage? I get that when the Ark was still functioning it was just a system of the Ark and could perhaps be controlled by it, but Ark is dead since millenia.

The Unholy Consult / Re: [TUC Spoilers] (or maybe not) - The Daimos

There also seems to be an element of necromancy to the Daimos. Kellhus used the Daimos when he decapitated Malowebi and preserved the head in a concious state.
