The Great Ordeal / Re: [TGO SPOILERS] Aorsi/Dagliash
« on: August 08, 2016, 08:22:17 pm »
Probably the Consult hoped Kellhus and company would be beset at Dagliash long enough for the Tekne-Nuke to explode beneath ground and take them unawares, especially as a greater portion of the Ordeal would have been much closer to blast-radius (as the Ordeal's plan fixated on converging on Dagliash).

I'm not entirely convinced that the Consult even intended to destroy the Ordeal with the nuke (in fact if some of the theories on No-God resurrection being thrown around are somewhat true, destroying the Ordeal at Dagliash might have been the last thing the Consult wanted).  I think the main purpose of the nuke was to destroy the Horde (and thus the Ordeal food supply), since the Consult knew it had finally been gathered all around Dagliash.

Why the indirectness? I think the Consult idea is to have a half-starved and reduced Ordeal show up at Golgotterath and be easily defeated and wrangled into No-God 2.0, since the hints seem to point to the need for plenty of human fodder for that purpose.

General Earwa / Re: Mimara's Father?
« on: August 05, 2016, 04:37:18 am »
Maybe... a Mangeacca agent?

You know come to think of it: do we have even a remote understanding of why the Consult not only knows about Mimara, but commanded that she be protected? (which resulted in her being saved multiple times by not-Soma)  We know what is told to the skin-spy about "even the false prophecies must be protected" but I don't buy that that's an honest answer from the Synthese; the Consult clearly knows something.

Maybe this is related to why Aurang seems so relaxed when he's flying around trolling the Ordeal.

The Tall was unexpected, in the psalms of whatever it spoke of Ishroi heroes who never stopped growing, I thought it was an artistic convention, but I guess not.

I thought much the same, though I guess if we believe the story of Ciogli breaking Wutteat's neck then we should've already known that giant Ishroi ain't nothing to fuck with.

Also, iirc Aurang (thinking back on how much stronger he used to be) remembers wrestling and killing Ciogli, and Ciogli himself was the "only one who could throw Oinuras from his feet", so I guess Tekne steroids are pretty damn good.

The Great Ordeal / Re: TGO Official Buys
« on: July 04, 2016, 02:25:28 pm »
I was going to ask, who else has been able to officially buy a copy?

I just got back from picking my copy up from a local B&N the second they opened.

I too was going to buy it on Amazon but when I saw it was coming out a week earlier through B&N there was no way I could suffer the thought of not going and grabbing a copy.  The world's getting completely shut out in the coming days!

The Great Ordeal / Re: [TGO SPOILERS] Prologue + Chapter 1 excerpt

I've speculated at times before that Aurang isn't a liar he's just a braggart, so I have basically always agreed with you.

I've gotten the same impression of Aurang in every appearance he's made (just look at how even Shae is shocked by Aurang's directness with Titirga).

After re-reading the excerpt and going back and having a look at TTT, I see that: 1) Kellhus' description of damnation to Proyas lines up exactly with what Aurang-as-Esmi already said ("We were born for damnation's sake") and 2)What Kellhus experiences in the Outside also lines up with Aurang's earlier statements ("Love is the Way... and yet these little demons you call Gods decree otherwise? Dole out their rewards in proportion to our suffering?").

So yes, Aurang is love, Aurang is life.  ;D

(On a somewhat unrelated note, there's something in that conversation between Kellhus and Aurang that always really caused me headaches: Aurang says "So long as there are men, there are crimes."  You may recognize this statement as being the exact one uttered by the Anasurimbor to the Dunyain in the prologue of TDTCB, to which the Dunyain responds: "Only so long as men are deceived." Recall that Aurang is called "the Angel of Deceit". I don't really know where I'm going with this but I think there's an Illuminati plot in there somewhere.)

1. Kellhus' recollection of the Outside seems to confirm Meppa's claims regarding the Gods, that they are nothing more than demons.

If we tend to believe that Aurang was more or less telling the truth when he spoke with Kellhus during TTT, then Aurang also already confirmed as much. I imagine the Consult knows even more about the true nature of the Outside than Kellhus since their whole ethos revolves around breaking that connection.

Welcome to the forum!

Thanks! After a few weeks of lurking around reading various threads I just couldn't take it anymore and had to join the fun! ;)
