TGO ARC Discussion / Re: The DREAMS
« on: June 24, 2016, 04:16:52 am »
What is up with Akka as Celmomas seeing Kellhus with the Decapitants in the dream?  Just confirmation that Kellhus is the Anasurimbor in the Celmomian prophecy?

What happens if Mimara looks at the Inverse Fire with the Eye?

Ah,   thanks.  That whole segment had a River Styx vibe to it.

How fucking awesome but sad/disturbing was Oinaral's foreshadowing of his own (possible) suicide with repeated mentions of "Nonmen don't commit suicide" the whole way down?

I read through the section where Saubon dies so quickly I didn't even catch the call back to TWP and Mengedda. Wow, how fucking utterly horrifying is that?

Maybe the darkest and most horrifying moment in this entire series.  Wow.

When Kellhus first excavated the infernal device before it had been adequately described I wondered if it was like a fossilized-in-amber Titirga.  Gotta be down there somewhere, neh? :)

When Saccarees pondered contacting Kellhus but didn't I felt like it was some foreshadowing of disaster harkening back to the disaster in the previous book.  But then we never heard what came of the confrontation and he's just back there with Proyas at the end?  Strange.

What about Wreoleth early in the book?  Was it some Topos and the band of Ordealmen that went there became possessed in a way?

So fun to read everyone's thoughts.  These chapters were such a trip.  So satisfying after looking forward this entire series to seeing more of the Nonmen.

What was up with the Clack.  Clack.  Clack?  It's probably something obvious, but I couldn't figure it out.

TGO ARC Discussion / Re: Meppa is...
« on: June 23, 2016, 02:00:36 am »
Well, I was a huge fan of the possibility that Meppa was Moe or Moe-inspired, so that looks unlikely at this point.  But I had continued throughout the story to think he must have some greater purpose and nearly lost it when I thought for a second Kellhus had killed him at the end.  I'm relieved to see that people seem to agree that he was not shown to be killed, so like y'all I still think there's something to the character though maybe the man isn't so important and he's just the vector for something metaphysically important in the larger picture.

But I have to mention that i the seen where Meppa as Fanayal parlayed with Esmenet actually bolstered my thoughts about a Moe connection.  Correct me if I'm wrong, but the technique to superimpose a face has only been done on screen by Moe-as-Mallahet skyping in Skaurus and now Meppa skyping in Fanayal?  Curious...

I thought that perhaps he'd been turned into a Wathi doll or something acting on similar principles and that was how/why Kellhus commanded him to go and assassinate the Zeumi leadership.  Basically a bigger version of Akka asking the Wathi doll to come and destroy the uroborean circle.

Somewhere it said "Faminry" instead of "Fanimry."

Awesome Wutteat shirt.  I like to picture what the uninitiated would think of it.  And if they saw the back would they, out of curiosity, consider offering up a truth in exchange for only a merest fraction?

I am damn curious if we'll ever get more of an explanation of how Fane discovered the Water.  I'm curious about the "how" in contrast to the how of the Quyan sorcery the origins of which seem more like learning about physics.

That would be interesting too if somehow birth could only occur if Yatwer were in Her natural place in the Outside and bringing Her into Earwa is what prevents birth.

But then I'm trying to figure out what the other implications would be if one could summon others...like if one summoned the god of disease would disease no longer happen?  That doesn't seem to make as much sense.

But I do think that the use of the word "summoned" suggests it's some kind of agency from the Outside.

General Earwa / Re: How would Cishaurim train themsevles?
« on: January 25, 2015, 01:42:14 am »
I and others have mentioned this here and on Westeros if memory serves.  It's a really interesting question.  We get a pretty decent bit of background on how both the Gnostic and Anagogic schools identify and train students.  With the Cishaurim, I feel like we really don't.  Do we even ever get explicit knowledge of whether or not they are of the Few?  If not, how are the initiates found?

I maintain that one of the big unanswered questions in the series at this moment in time is whether the Cishaurim were just an interesting piece from the first series with one interesting bit being prolonged in the form of Meppa or whether the Cishaurim are absolutely instrumental in the whole series and Meppa is going to be our conduit for understanding how.

General Earwa / Re: What would you like to ask Bakker?

But it is you, mrganondorf, who are the question.

For example, could Bakker compel you to cut your own throat as an emissary to demonstrate your fealty?
