Not sure if anyone's brought this up yet:

Someone did previously in the Grimdark Fiction Readers & Writers group on facebook. So sad.

Even worse, story is that Bakker had to fight specifically for this choice of stock art from among a handful Overlook's cover people had picked out... this was the best of the worst. At least it kind of invokes Achamian?

The face covers are the worse, especially when I'm sure Rankine would be on board to do another canonical set like the Canadian PON covers. (Or you know, source someone like Somnambulist who has already done the teaser images two years in a row for Overlook...)

Yeah, I wasn't a big fan of the direction the covers took in TAE. I generally liked the style of the paperbacks from TPON. Really had that holy war, crusades look for some reason.

What the fuck? Bakker doesn't get to choose his own fucking cover art work? That doesn't many any fucking sense to me. Is this normal in the book business? Authors just have to deal with whatever the publisher's marketing department thinks will sell best and cost them the least in terms of copyright?
Anyway, to me it looked more like Nau-Cayuti. Remember that Achamian is brown.

Yeah, it's completely the norm, unfortunately.

I always thought the faces on the covers were just supposed to be done random Ordealman.

Oh, I know - I am a zealous face cover hater ;).

That would be a good call... I just don't understand why they have to be *so* terrible.

Oh, there's no reason for that ;)

The original PoN hardbacks with the script were fantastic (black, yellow, red). Perfectly matched the interior design. Me no like Stock Face Man.

If the face covers showed one character from the series gradually grow more mature and reflect bits from the story I would totally be down with that, and I assume that was the intention. Can't believe its just a photoshopped stock photo passed down.

Q and Som should collaborate for the covers of the reprints.

Maybe it was you who put it inside my head ... you wouldn't happen to know TNG/A/G, would you?

Anyway. Our book cover has reared it's head again.

OMG - there has to be a better process for "designing" book covers than randomly grabbing clip art.

Pretty sure this is the third time we have "found" the art on another book...
