What's this, like the 3rd attempt at a movie? Ought to be a success then! I do hope it goes well though, better than the previous movies at least...

Well that, and read can often be read as read or read - there's not always enough context online to support one over the other.

Clearly he knows that a lot of us have read the book, so he would not be imperatively telling us to read it. Rather, he's stating that he just finished it himself, to which I can only say: Great! Now read Messiah, it's probably the best one in the series.
