I like to rotate the music I listen too pretty regularly. Good for the brain, I reckon.
Latest addition to the play list.
Pallbearer - Sorrow and Extinction.
Doom metal
8/10
[EDIT Madness: Title.]
-
Armin Van Buuren - Intense
Kinda gushy dance music, but you can't go wrong with those synths.
8/10
-
Kanye West - Lost In The World

Kanye West - Lost In The World
I used to be one of the worst music snobs.
Disdainful of anything that smacked of overproduction or mainstream appeal.
I'd tell you to go listen to Pavement, or Superchunk, Neutral Milk Hotel or Cursive, or any other similar thing.
I've gotten to a point that if you enjoy it, piss on it, enjoy it.
Music elitism, or elitism in general in regard to media, is a crutch to make you feel better about yourself by demeaning other people's tastes.
Oh, and I quoted that post because that's a great track.
Also,
Kanye West - Coldest Winter
Mos Def - Mathematics
Neutral Milk Hotel - Oh Sister
Kesha / Iggy Pop - Dirty love
Those are a few that've been playing in my mental playlists lately.
-
Lol.
Cygnus, I am a being manipulated ;). The music comes before me.
Rage Against the Machine - Killing In The Name Of

Just before that: Kenta Nagata - Staff Roll (Mario Kart 64)
-
How do you karaoke Gangnam Style ;)? Also, Meyna, you've been taken in by the KoreanMindControl.
I too love video game music of all iterations.
Apologies, almost forgot: The Underachievers - Herb Shuttles.
-
What, you all don't memorize meaningless (if you don't know a lick of the language) strings of phonemes on key for fun?
Au Revoir Simone - Knight of Wands
-
Hm... sometimes I do exercises? Work those vocalization muscles ;).
Florence + the Machine - Drumming Song
-
30 Seconds to Mars: A Beautiful Lie

Other information painstakingly investigated included represented regions, name origins, common threads between popular names, and an all-too-interesting look at the differences between negative, positive, and neutral names. It's a fascinating glimpse into one of those things that players tend to take for Buy WOW Gold (http://www.mmotank.com/) granted. While you may think you're creating a name that's completely unique and carefully chosen, there's a strong likelihood that somewhere out there in the far-flung reaches of the global playerbase, there's at least one person who's had the exact same idea as yourself. Take a look at the full article for more interesting tidbits about the curiosity of character naming on Gamasutra's site.
I love that band too!

This is all my fault for mentioning World of Warcraft in the interests thread!

I take it as a compliment. Blame not yourself, Meyna.

Tool - H. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3iXMhphebGI (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3iXMhphebGI)
I am, and likely always will be, obsessed with Tool.

Yes,that band has haunted me since I was 15 years old. To this day, I have not heard anything that "sounds" like them. Ænima is my favorite album of all time, and Eulogy my favorite tune ever. That song also gave me Bill Hicks which I am eternally grateful for :)
-
Lol, I think many of us are Tool fans. I know Bakker is.
Eminem - Berzerk
EDIT: I should add... Schism had a huge effect on me. Forty Six & 2. Eulogy. Prison Sex. Basically, all the songs I tried to learn on bass for when jamming with buddies - aside from the iconic songs mentioned, of course.
-
Tool are all right, very American and at times obnoxious or cod mystical. Anyone who likes them should listen to A Perfect Circle (Maynard sings), particularly the first album. I'm not really down with all the selfish new age crap Maynard is going on about but whatever, its a good album, and I like the angry anti Christianity!
http://youtu.be/xTgKRCXybSM (http://youtu.be/xTgKRCXybSM)
I was always more into music than anything else until recent years where I've got bored of it. I've just reached the limits of genres to explore and have heard basically almost everything I want to hear. Not trying to show off or anything.
Anyway, here's some cool stuff:

I've been on Puscifer for a couple years too - I'll listen to anything Maynard produces once.
Neat list, james.
-
I'll listen to anything Maynard produces once.
Same here. I like a lot of APC and Puscifer stuff. One my favorite Puscifer songs is The Mission, featuring Milla Jovovich of all people! (and she's actually rather good):

Judith is definitely one of my favorite songs, in any genre. I'm fucking in love with the guitar in that song.
-
Speaking of APC, here is their first new song in almost 10 years!

Cool stuff, Royce, cheers.

-
Collard Greens ft. Kendrick Lamar - ScHoolboy Q
-
I'm On Everything ft. Mike Epps - Bad Meets Evil
-
Day is Gone - Noah Gundersen & the Forest Rangers
I've basically been crying and listening to this on repeat since the Sons of Anarchy season 6 finale last night.
And I'm so very happy to have been introduced to the fine Noah Gundersen and the Gundersens... 'Cause everything I'm finding by Noah or The Courage (Gundersens band) is awesome :)).
-
Tiesto Feel It In My bones - (Extended Version)
I started running long distance again...
-
A co-worker turned me on to M83. Every time I hear this song (Moonchild), I think of a little Akka learning sorcery (I'm weird):
…and I was sitting there
singing a song I had never heard before
suddenly, a voice told me
‘Keep on singing, little boy,
Raise your arms to the big, black sky,
Raise your arms the highest you can,
So the whole universe will glow.’
…I realized I was in love with the voice
I called it again and again
But all I heard was the echo and the light
-
I like what I've heard of M83 (and mostly, this has been really cool remixes of some of my alternative favorites).
Earth: The Oldest Computer (The Last Night) (ft. Macklemore) - Childish Gambino
-
Wth ft. Ab-Soul - Jhene Aiko
Since eightish hours of my day is eaten up by studying though, I've mostly been working my way through the classical and baroque composers, interjected with some Childish Gambino, Noah Gundersen, Tron Legacy Reconfigured, or The Dark Knight - Hans Zimmer & James Newton Howard.
-
Paranoid and Aroused - KoЯn
-
What We Had - Handsome Furs
-
The Boxer - by Simon & Garfunkel
Great song...
-
Bravado - Lorde
-
Dance of the Goblins - Antonio Bazzini
-
Rap God - Eminem
Really digging the music video too: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XbGs_qK2PQA
I have a love/hate relationship with Eminem. On the one hand, I love his work. He's revolutionary and phenomenally talented. On the other hand, I think he's kind of a piece of shit. Regardless, I'm one of those people that tries to separate the art from the artist. I think Roman Polanksi's a scumbag, for example, but I still watched Rosemary's Baby on Netflix since I had never seen it.
-

Beautiful video, great guy:)
Rap God - Eminem
I have never quite gotten into rap/hip hop. I did like Jazzmatazz back in the day:)
-
I have never quite gotten into rap/hip hop. I did like Jazzmatazz back in the day:)
... The hell is jazzmatazz? Back in the day indeed.... ;)
-
Eminem is a machine, FB. I really liked Brainless, the latter half of Bad Guy, Love Game.
Red Lights - Neon Hitch
-
... The hell is jazzmatazz? Back in the day indeed.... ;)
Oh, but you have to get down with him some time Wilshire(musically get down).
He is the guru of jazz rap:) Even calls himself Guru.

This one brings me right back to the nineties:)
-
Last Days ft. Krizz Kaliko - iMayday!

Ice-T doing a D&D audio book (or at least talking about doing one).
I haven't had time to listen to it, but I am sure it is at least entertaining.
-
††† (Crosses) - EP †††
It consolidates EP † & †† and includes five new tracks. AMAZING!
Side project from Deftones' Chino, if you know.
-
greatest band around I think.

-
That was cool, Royce.
Advanced Basics - Ubiquitous Synergy Seeker
One of my favorite groups ever. New album. If you can get into them, do so, but I admit it's not for everyone. The lyrics are often stellar.
-
Amie - Pure Prairie League
-
Buy u a Drank by T-Pain
-
Lol.
I listen to lots of rap, though, so who I am to speak ;).
The Glitch Mob - Love Death Immortality
-
Car Crash - Our Lady Peace
-
Grimes - Genesis
Ack, the judgement I feel about to be heaped upon my already-damned soul...
-
Grimes - Genesis
Ack, the judgement I feel about to be heaped upon my already-damned soul...
I love Genesis :-[ Wait, I am not really embarrassed at all. Much of their old stuff is top class prog-rock IMO.
"Selling England by the pound", "Foxtrot", and "The lamb lies down on broadway" are my personal favorites.
We are all damned anyway!, especially fans of Genesis I suppose. That is what the herd of sheep tell me anyway :)
-
So, at the moment it's Leonard Cohen. Mostly the more depressing of his songs (as if there were a lot of optimistic ones in his career), like "Everybody knows" and "The Future".
-
And now it's time for Velvet Underground and Nico. "Heroin", "Sunday Morning", "I'll be Your Mirror", "Venus in Furs", you name it. All great songs with great lyrics.
-
Oxymoron - ScHoolboy Q
-
Hey Alia, it seems like you are into the mellow dark stuff so I just wondered if you have heard Black Heart Procession?
Kind of in the same alley as Tindersticks.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I8FE9YZ8agA

Thanks, Royce, listening to it right now. Sounds interesting so far, I will have to check them out.
-
Fairport Convention - Tam Lin ( Sandy Denny )
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=guFZkLxYM60
"...Janet tied her kirtle green a bit above her knee
And she's gone to her father as fast as go can she
Well, up then spoke her father dear and he spoke meek and mild
Oh, and alas, Janet, he said, I think you go with child
Well, if that be so, Janet said, myself shall bear the blame
There's not a knight in all your hall shall get the baby's name
For if my love were an earthly knight, as he is an elfin grey
I'd not change my own true love for any knight you have..."
-
Great choice Sci ;)
Love the albums when Sandy Denny was around. The ones without her, not so much.
She had such a rich voice.
-
At the moment, the soundtrack from Jim Jarmusch's latest film, "Only Lovers Left Alive". It's dark and beautiful. Just like the film.
-
Great choice Sci ;)

Madness, I just saw them in Hamilton, ON they were amazing. Easily one of the best concerts I've ever been to.
-
I am super jealous!
They are one of my all-time favorite musical groups.
-
Dude you're in Canada... You gotta get to some of these Canadian events.
-
Lol - yeah... Hamilton isn't just around the corner from where I'm at ;). And I ain't balling like a bunch of the people I seem to attend school with, who fly around the country on a whim (probably majorly on their parent's dollar, honestly.)
But sadly, I've actually missed U.S.S perform at a really small venue in London for no other reason than I lapsed :(.
EDIT: LMAO... so I just went and checked and U.S.S is opening for Hedley with Classified here on the 31st... though bullshit because we have one of the best small venue's in Canada here and I'd be paying for them alone (though, I don't mind Classified).
Fuck, I have such a busy day on the 31st... And money :-\.
EDIT EDIT: How silly of me.
Goodbye, Dear Friend - Deer Tick
-
They mixed their set list perfectly, a great blend of their hits and even some older stuff. Like I said, it was one of the best shows I've seen and Jason Parsons is hilarious as a hype man.
-
Human Kebab is the man. I really enjoy their blend of sound. And Ash's smoothies - though, I've never had one mixed by him.
They very much encompass me.

It's not that I don't think their music is bad, it's just...the hipsters have sort of ruined them for me lol Any time I hear "Yeah!" sung in a chorus or bongos in informal music it brings to mind a bunch of hipsters sitting at panera looking up the least processed form of clothing they can wear to show off on instagram....
That being said, that actually is a pretty good song lol

Lykke Li lyrics are pretty much how my prayers would go:
Lykke Li - No Rest For The Wicked (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hh-0y8Qe0Sw)
"If one heart can mend another
Only then can we begin
So won't you hold on a little longer
Don't let them get away"
Lykke Li - Gunshot (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1SP-PgW7U1M)
"And the shot goes through my head and back
Gunshot, I can't take it back
Lay me down in Your ocean
Carry me and my burden
I was dreaming about You honey
I was hoping You'd save me"

HEY! does anybody here do that thing were u can combine music and voices and make it have a beat and sound like technology? because if ur bored and feel disposed, i would love to hear Sarl from Bakker's audiobooks set to music saying "I told u Kiampus!" and "the slog of slogs boys!" and maybe Kosoter growling now and then

Moby "JLTF 1"

Bach. Because I should really, really get down to marking my students' mock exams. They've been asking for the results for a week now (the exam was exactly 10 days ago, but as everyone in the profession knows, students always assume that teachers have no life of their own and their idea of free time is alternatively writing and marking their students' tests and homework.)

I'm a real big fan of classical/baroque music. I recently have gotten my nephew hooked on the "Classical Kids" series of CDs.
-
You forgot thinking of ways to make students miserable.
Madness, I'm pretty sure I have some Classical Kids albums on my ipod, it might even be Bach. Love Bach.
-
I think my favorite was Hallelujah Handel. Nephew's digging Mozart's Magic Flute.
-
If you would want to hear some neo-classical, I highly recomend Max Richter's work, coming from a real classical listening pedigree, I would start with Recomposed by Max Richter: Vivaldi, The Four Seasons (https://www.google.com/search?q=Recomposed+by+Max+Richter%3A+Vivaldi%2C+The+Four+Seasons&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8).

The Blue Notebooks is also very, very good.
Richter is one of my favs. 24 Postcards in Full Color and Memoryhouse are fantastic.

Yeah, 24 Postcards is also really good, but appreciate his slightly longer form in his other works. I heard Memoryhouse after Blue Notebooks, so I feel like the latter is basically an improvement on the former, for the most part.

I really liked his album with Aidan Baker, Fantasma Parastasie. Baker has some good stuff under his own name too, along with his stuff as Nadja.

Jean Michel Jarre's new album, Electronica 2. So far listened to it only once, seems great as background noise to working (I can't work with music that is too distracting, especially if it has lyrics in any language that I know).

I am working my way through a series of podcasts from a radio show on XRAY-FM, a public radio station in Portland, Oregon. Called "The PM Show", it features progressive rock, jazz fusion and related styles. I discovered an East Coast band named Frogg Cafe, which began as a Frank Zappa tribute band. First-rate.
-
Still working my way through "The PM Show" podcasts. The most recent ones featured Jethro Tull's "Thick As A Brick" in its entirety. Classic 70's prog.
As for new bands, I'm also digging Thirteen Of Everything and their album "Welcome, Humans". I kid you not, that's the title.
-
H. recommended two acoustic indie/folk artists yesterday. The late Jason Molina and Joanna Newsom. Check them out.

On a sombre note, Allan Holdsworth passed away last weekend at age 70. He was certainly one of the finest electric guitar soloists of his time. He was a master of modern harmonic theory, and his extended, fluid and discursive solos often remind me of those excellent tracking shots that only skilled film directors can accomplish. And his pellucid, warbly "singing" tone.....no words. As a youngster, Allan wanted to learn to play a wind instrument, because he was captivated by the expressive quality of saxophones and flutes.
Here's a link to a live performance from 1986. Allan was at the peak of his powers, the band is great, and the recording is good. RIP, Allan.

My general tastes? Classical/baroque periods, Stravinsky, Chopin. Almost no modern classical. Prog rock, jazz fusion, singer-songwriters (Dan Fogelberg, Joni Mitchell), folk, bluegrass, Miles Davis, Keith Jarrett. Animals As Leaders, the current incarnation of King Crimson, Rush (especially late-period, such as Clockwork Angels, Counterparts), mid-70s Yes, mid-70s Genesis.
-
Bohren & der Club of Gore - Black Earth.
Hard to classify. Gothic-Jazz-Ambient maybe? IDK... it's awesome though.

That's some pretty good stuff right there. Not exactly what you'd (I'd) expect from the band name.
Kind of like The Dismemberment Plan (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nRLOf3bSlVs).
Currently really digging: Lydia Ainsworth - The Road (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QbjkBXoNyUQ) but unfortuately the full album fails to capitalize on the promise of it's two best songs.
-
Yeah, the name is a little misleading. :)
I listen to pretty much everything really, Lately I've listening to a lot of folk and dark ambient. Kammarheit, Autechre, that kind of shizz. Plus a little Lera Lynn after binge watching True Detective season 2.
-
Listening update: Still diligently searching through the archives of "The PM Show" on XRAY-FM (Portland, Oregon). Pretty sold on Frogg Café, the transmuted Frank Zappa tribute band.
-
At this very moment, I am listening to one of my favorite podcasts from "The PM Show" (#159), and specifically, a track entitled "Luminescence", by Monarch Trail (2014). Recommended. A highly accomplished updating of the classic prog style.
Moving on to a track by Nad Sylvan, "To The Green Faerie" (2013). A very charming track, channeling the classic mid-70s Genesis sound. Nad's voice is a dead ringer for the early Phil Collins style (when he featured his softer, lighter voice....in other words, pre-"In The Air Tonight")
And now the podcast moves to a stately instrumental track by Camel entitled "Ice" (1979). Excellent synthesizer solo from Kit Watkins, and similarly excellent acoustic and electric guitar work from Andy Latimer, an English guitarist who, fortunately, is still among the living.
Also featured on this podcast:
1. A short track from Animals As Leaders, a first-rate contemporary heavy fusion group (2011).
2. "Neurotica", a mid-period Rush track (1991) from "Roll The Bones".
3. "Kayla", by Flying Colors (2012)
4. "On An Island" (2006) by Pink Floyd guitarist David Gilmour. Langourous and dreamy. Just a beautiful song.
.....and more.
The only dud, for me, is a long (18 minute) track from 1973 by a group named Eloy. The playing is amateurish and there's too much emphasis on the "new" possibilities provided by electronic sound modifying devices such as phasers, reverbs, etc. Horrible organ solo. Of historical interest only.
-
And now, another of my favorite podcasts (#77) from "The PM Show", found on XRAY-FM (Portland, Oregon). It features two outstanding extended tracks, both recorded in 2005. The first is "As Far As The Mind Can See" by Spock's Beard, a noted West Coast prog band that has been around for over 20 years now. The second is "Late For Dinner" by Thirteen Of Everything, an even more obscure prog band. An interesting lyrical concept involving alien invasion. Perfect for TSA fans!
Also heard, a nice track called "Gattax" from the late Allan Holdsworth, the excellent English electric guitar soloist recently eulogized here by yours truly.
All in all, fine listening.
-
I'm currently enjoying a trip backwards though the Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds discography. Skeleton Tree really is a great album. Tip of the cap to the show Peaky Blinders for getting me started with their wonderful and anachronistic soundtrack.
-
I fucking love Peaky Blinders. Such a slept on show.
My World - Three Doors Down
-
Yup, really good show that doesn't get enough love. I just finished season three. Marvelous.
Musically related, I went to karaoke for the first time in ages last night. Good times. I sang Black and Lose Yourself and managed to not embarrass myself, so there's that.

Here's another nice podcast, #6, from "The PM Show" on XRAY-FM (Portland, Oregon). Sorry that I can't post a link to it; I have tried....but I have found a few links to individual tracks (see below).
Anyway, it's a nice mix of old and new prog. It opens with a track from 2013, "Heartland", by Moon Safari. Imagine an a capella group like Straight No Chaser backed by a tight prog band. Syncopated melodies, virtuosic synth solos, plus high harmonies to die for. Highly recommended.
Two tracks feature the prolific Neal Morse. The first, "At The End Of The Day", comes from his tenure with Spock's Beard, and the second comes from his prog supergroup Transatlantic, which features Roine Stolt (Flower Kings) on guitar, the equally prolific Mike Portnoy (Dream Theater) on drums, and Pete Trewavas (Marillion) on bass. Both groups are extremely able representatives of the modern prog style. I recently saw the Neal Morse Band live in STL, and they were outstanding. Another podcast (#54) features the NMB covering the Jimmy Webb classic "MacArthur Park". Yeah, the song about the cake left out in the rain.... done in the prog style. Very far out, man.
Other new prog artists on this 'cast include Steven Wilson, Collage, and my namesake, Beardfish! Classic prog is represented by King Crimson ("In The Court Of The Crimson King") with a clever, if slightly clumsy, segue into "Duke's End" by Genesis, and by a decent, albeit long, track by ELP.
Definitely worth a listen, especially for the first three tracks (Moon Safari, Collage, Spock's Beard).
Edited to add: Here's a link to the Moon Safari track:
https://youtu.be/EuB48k2CVMY
And here's a link to the Spock's Beard track:
https://youtu.be/pidj1rhZdXg
Finally, here's a link to the Neal Morse Band cover of "MacArthur Park". Music fans of a certain age will be amazed. But, be warned: The grand style of progressive rock is essentially Wagnerian. Sample at your own risk. Play at maximum allowable volume. Vocals by NMB multi-instrumentalist Bob Hubauer.

First-time visitor to this thread, so I've got a lot.
Muse seems incredibly on-topic with Absolution. Really good, fairly deep. Their other albums are great too, but Absolution is really on-point. It's the most mainstream thing I've ever encountered that tries to address the same same topics as Bakker's books.
Lacuna Coil is pretty engaging. Dark Adrenaline is really fun, Broken Crown Halo is good but nothing to get excited about.
Affiance is really heavy-handed trying to address the same themes as Bakker, but at least they have a good baseline. The Campaign is a solid album.
(And then because I'm new to the thread, I'm always listening to Panic! At the Disco, who are always relevant to some degree.)
-
You Found Me - The Fray
Love Muse. I've seen them a handful of times in concert with a friend of mine who goes religiously.

I was going through a box the other day and found STP's Purple. No case, no context, just the CD, which has to be more than 20 years old at this point. I've been listening to it in the car the last couple of days and basking in the nostalgia. Great album. Also, to zig rather than zag, I've been listening to a ton of Marvin Gaye and Otis Redding lately, good times.

Deathspell Omega - A Chore for the Lost
Let us be a blight on the orchard, on all orchards of this world, even the
least of these words will be judged during the times of reckoning, bearing
a latent damnation a feverish seduction exasperated in death, every letter
is a code to extreme horror, utter contempt and divine conflict; it is lethal
to speak the language of resistance, every gasp exhales a particle of the
remission of Golgotha, as if the blazing Logos demanded the exercise of a fragile power just above annihilation, the one of a harmony in ruins; it is a
task for a man who cannot bear any longer to be, a chore for the lost in the
denial of free will: perinde ac cadaver!

Death... It reigns strongly in the sanctuary.

Deathspell Omega - Wings of Predation
It is a dreadful thing to fall into the hands of the living God!
Take heed therefore unto yourselves
Wherefore hidest thou thy face
In such a vain move of treason?
Rest assured
No veil in this autumnal world could conceal (neither protect)
from the shadows of the deathless Sun
The worm is spread under thee
I keep seeing similarities to Eärwa in their lyrics... This section could for example refer to the Nonmen's attempt at Elision.

The guitarist is a genius at writing catchy lines. Always get a hard-on at the solo-ish part at 2:17 and the "climax" at 4:04

Yesterday, I listened to a lot of music from the British folk-prog group Renaissance. The group had a rabidly fanatic cult following on the East Coast back in the 1970s, and Renaissance recorded a classic live album from their performances (3 nights) at Carnegie Hall. The group featured an amazing singer, Annie Haslam, who has an unequaled talent for bringing out the emotion of a lyric. One of their signature tracks is "Mother Russia", which is loosely based on the career of Alexander Solzhenitsyn. So.....picture yourself as an idealistic young man or woman in the 1970s and early 1980s living in NYC or maybe even a cosmopolitan section of St. Louis that was in those days known as a haven for resettled Russian Jews. You like classical music, but you're wild for this new thing happening....this progressive-rock sound. Then....you hear this band, Renaissance, and this song, "Mother Russia". There's this Romantic orchestral arrangement that segues into an acoustic guitar-driven song with plaintive lyrics:
Red blood, white snow;
He knows frozen rivers won't flow.
So cold, so true;
Mother Russia, he cries for you.
Amazingly moving. The crowd at Carnegie Hall went insane with rapture. It still chokes up that idealistic young man from St. Louis.
(I should have posted this over in BFK's Music Corner. Honestly, I didn't intend to get this deep....)

"Spectral Mornings", by Steve Hackett.
This version was recorded in 2015 with vocals by Christina Booth (from Magenta) and Big Big Train's Dave Longdon (who also provided the lyrics to what was originally an instrumental melody).
Simply beautiful. Here's the original version from 1979:

"The Magician" by Æther Realm. This song always reminds me of Kellhus and his shenanigans.
"Alone on the ancient mountaintop
Stood the one who had lost his way
For when you walk on the path of a traitor
You will find you may soon be betrayed
Stray not from the path you've chosen
You may yet find what you seek
You will learn to command the ethereal realm
And fulfill your destiny
Cast out of his land for reaching for that which lies out of mortal sight
Like a beast he is feared and hunted
Like a beast he intends to fight
Stay true to your heart young warrior
Keep your sword close by your side
And when night comes again beware what the darkness hides
Go now to the realm of spirits child
You are running out of time
Seek quickly the one who will guide you
Who will teach you the way of light
Doubt not your resolve young wanderer
May your stride be swift and true
For the colors of day are fading away
And tonight they will come for you
No amount of work or training
Can prepare you for the changing winds
But don't despair my child
You must fight
Take hold of strength divine
Shape the world to your design
And release the power you keep inside your heart
I am the light when a life's at its end
The still burning candle when darkness descends
I am desire, warmth from the fire
fueling your steps when your journey began
I am the fear twisting tight round your throat
The life giving spark hiding deep in your soul
I am your aura, hunger for honor
I hold the power you seek
Eeeeyuh
A fire arose behind his eyes
The trees, like torches, blazed up in the night
The fire raced across the sky
The trees like torches
Like torches blazed with light
And now they're on the run
No mercy smite them one by one
You've got an axe to grind
Relentless, no one left behind
Immolation is their fate
Hunt them down and let them feel your hate
No cowards left alive
By your power they will die
And now they're on the run
No mercy smite them one by one
You've got an axe to grind
For the fire of your soul
Is a terror to behold
No amount of work or training
Can prepare them for their flaming end
But don't hold back my child
They must die
Take hold of strength divine
Shape the world to your design
And release the power you keep inside your heart"

Νew member in the forum here and I was dying to share my music experience with u. All this time that I was reading the Aspect Emperor books two groups were haunting my brain. They literally became my Bakker OST.
The first albums by Mortiis.
Especially this song
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RSGkfMjQT5w
and mostly Savior Machine. An atmospheric metal band heavily influenced by holy scriptures, the Apocalypse etc. There are whole parts that felt like they were written for Earwa. Even the singer is like a Nonman/Cishaurim mix
"In the star that falls from heaven Is the key that is given to thee
To the shaft of the rising abyss and eternity...
The he opened the bottomless pit
And the smoke and the flame arise
And the sun and air were darkened by eternal night..."

That definitely sounds like it would fit, though I can't say I've ever listened to a metal band can thought it was atmospheric lol.

Deathspell Omega - The Furnaces of Palingenesia
This world contains neither meaning nor justice!
That is, the world of yore is unintelligible, unless God conceived History as the History of the crimes and misfortunes of the human race. Therefore, the here and now shall be torn down and we will bless this world with meaning and justice.
Arranged as they have been in all eternity, Man and the natural order cannot have been made for each other. We shall dissolve Man and mould him into a new shape, as you would mould a malformed limb, into a shape that fits the aforementioned order.
We will act as though the principle of our actions were to become, by our will alone, a universal law of nature. We shall bear a world so perfect that its realization will undo us, we shall name it NEDE. This is the promise of our Providence.
Hearken now : «Everything is degenerate as it leaves the hands of the Author of nature; everything becomes good in the hands of Man».

Deathspell Omega - Renegade Ashes
Our holy duty is not to govern the City, nor the fight to gain power: it is the attainment of perfection on earth, the instauration of an Order so perfect as to last a thousand years and then forevermore.
Therefore, anyone turning their backs on this blessed mission renounce their right to life.
-
That song seems to be pretty new. Please tell me they're actually against that. Interesting that they're quite mysterious. Might check them out. Been around for years.
-
Haha, it's hard to say what exactly it is they want, but the whole album is about the instauration of a new world order that seems to end up destroying humanity. No salvation here! Just like in TSA...

they’re ashes gone
