Subterranean press? Those must be expensive as hell! Yikes. Maybe try ebay? :)

Oh, I think he had free will, but in some cases, when he did do those horrible things, I don't think he had very many options.

I don't think that Griffith is a narcissist or a sociopath. If anything, I think he's on the BPD spectrum. Honestly, when it came to him being horrible, in a lot of cases, he had to be. There were only two cases where he didn't have to horrible. :/

I was under the impression that Conphas was some sort of a blonde with blue eyes. Maybe a Roman type?

36
But....but....he said that Conphas was beautiful. :(

Griffith is from a manga known as Berserk and he is very much male. A very beautiful male. Similar to Conphas, only Griffith isn't actually a sociopath.

I lost a bit more respect for Esmenet at this point. I can never hate her, but as time went on, I became more and more indifferent. Forced by station? Please. That's an excuse. At least she's introspective about it. Conphas wouldn't have thought twice about it. But, the talk about submission made me ill. Screw that.

"..."I know you love me... Men often beat those they love. Words fail them , and they throw their fists into the breach"..."

HEH! Conphas so crazy. I can't help but like him.

The Inrithi, Proyas had told him once, believed it was the lot of men to live within the designs, inscrutable or otherwise, of those greater than themselves.

You know what bugs me is that Proyas never thought to question this. Why should it be "their lot" and who the hell is "greater"? Why? And even if someone IS greater, people can live their lives by their own designs or at least try to. Then again, I'm forgetting what world Earwa is.

There was no greater tyranny, the memorialists said, than that exercised by slaves over slaves.

They're not entirely off on that...

"... Have them flayed and posted".
The ease with which these words fell from her lips was nothing short of nightmarish.  One breath and these men, these piteous fools, would die in torment.  A breath that could have been used for anything: a moan of pleasure, a gasp, a word of mercy...

This actually pissed me off quite a bit and I lost respect for her here. Well, at least at first. Then I realized that despite the power that she has, she was still following the letter of the law. Proyas would have done the same, I'm sure, but he's used to having such power. Conphas wouldn't even be thinking about this.

It kind of reminded me of the Casey Anthony case, oddly enough. People were super quick the judge the jury, but generally shut up when they listened to what the jury had to say. They DID suspect that she was guilty, but because of how US law is, any doubt means acquittal. That's in accordance with the law.
