--- Quote --- (click to show/hide)Who and where are the remaining intact ones and why are they still intact?  Maybe it is just some of the Nonmen that joined the consult and have been given something from the Tekne to hold their memories together (Why not Mek?), but I still hold out hope that some of the intact are not aligned with the consult.  "Polishing stones" and whatnot...

(click to show/hide)What better way to contain the accumulate memories of several dozen human lifetimes than with several bodies. Perhaps the Intact are just consciousnesses bouncing from body to body similar to Shauriatas' little trick.

As to aligning with the Consult, I can only imagine that the war between the Nonmen and the Consult never ended, simply that it has been being waged on a dramatically smaller scale than the rallying of nations. In a contest that no doubt boasts ancient and deeply Marked characters on both sides, an army of Sranc seems superfluous unless faced against a similar army. If that's not the case in some way, the Consult should have rode over the Three Seas long before they remastered the Tekne.

If that's not the case though, I suspect Bakker will have drummed up something much more exciting.

Blackstone:
Does anyone else think it's odd that he says "for and against the No-god," which we were told later should have said Consult instead of No-god. That implies he is now fighting against the Consult.

Indeed, it could be something of "confirmation" that perhaps there is more something to the Moe-Mek connection than just a passing meeting.

The line where Mek says something to the effect of, "yes, I see his features in you" could well be a reference to Moe, not to the distant Celmomas, as it seems to be at first blush.

I believe he is referring to an ancient Anasurimbor. He grabs his cloak and points to a face and says, this one.

Good point.  I think though that Mek is sufficiently erratic that he may well be fighting both for and against the Consult at the same time, honestly.  He probably is completely aloof and I doubt if the Consult really wants that much of a wild-card on their hands...
