I'm going to spend some of my earnings and find a local t-shirt producer so I can wear some Bakker paraphernalia and advertise.
So I'm looking for ideas. So far, I've just thought of having the Canadian TDTCB pattern in the middle of a black t-shirt, with R. Scott Bakker on the front and a listing of books on the back like tour dates - something easily comparable to band t-shirts.
But since I have this handy crowd-sourcing tool at my disposal - ideas?
Ever Are Men Deceived.
(kinda kidding...but I might wear it).
EDIT: A shirt with the Tusk symbol might be kind of cool, or the Circumfix (is that how it's spelled?).
Brilliant. I have some artistically minded friends that may or may not be able to come up with a design or something. Though unfortunately none of them have read the books, so perhaps maybe not. However maybe a description of something would be enough to make a more abstract picture or drawing, i dunno. If I see an idea on here i'll ask around and see what I get.
btw, is this the one your talking about? http://www.bookitinc.com/pictures226/951753.jpg
Crappy five minute MS paint job, but something along the lines of this (but much better and with some kind of text) could be cool:

that'd probably get you on the terrorist watch list.
It's probably okay for canada though.

lmao.
I think that design is pretty sweet.
definitely getting "i am inchoroi, raper of thousands" in big red block letters on black and hitting up a bar with it. will post results
Lmao.
Yes, Wilshire, that was the design I was talking about.
Francis, that honestly looks awesome :P.
bbaztek, quote shirts are a wicked idea - specifically that one. In line with Francis' thoughts, except "Ever Are Men Deceived" is a creation of the forumers and not actually founded, repeatedly anyways, in the factual texts.
Lol, I imagine the number of airheads who actually fall for "I am Inchoroi, Raper of thousands" will surprise us all.
some of my favorit quotes from TDTCB
"We understand only after, always after. Not simply when it is too late, but precisely because it is too late."
"In desperate times men ration nothing so jealously as tolerance"
"They where like starving men dining on grass. When one starved, why not cultivate the illusion of digestion?"
"Stupid men tended to be excessively proud of their few brilliant moments"
"Like two beggars, sneering at those too poor to give more than coppers"
"The young can never see life for what it is: a knife's edge, as thin as the breaths that measure it. What gives it depth isn't memory... No, what gives life depth is the future. Without a future, without a horizon of promise or threat, our lives have no meaning. Only the future is real."
"The world is a circle that posses as many centers as it does men"
"With his own feet, the dead chased him"
"Complicity makes unforgettable, carves scenes with unbearable clarity, as though the extent of condemnation is to be found in the precision of detail"
"Measure is not something accomplished and then forgotten. Old measure is merely grounds for the new. Measure is unceasing."
"Answers are like opium: the more you imbibe, the more you need. Which is why the sober man finds solace in mystery"
"As though [they] have somehow transcended the role of people in history and became a principle"
"Above all, the mighty detest change"
"We are as 'a hunter in the thicket'. - one who, by the act of hunting, extinguishes all hope of running down its prey"
"There is nothing the ignorant prize more than the ignorance of others."
"His voice trailed, as though he had found a sharper tack with which to make his point"
- Warrior Prophet.
not all of those would make good tshirt quotes, but there are some gems in there that would give anyone pause.

Thanks guys! Honestly though someone even semi-proficient with photoshop could do a much better version (just make it look more "realistic" I think), and also I wasn't even sure if that's exactly how the Circumfix was described, I felt like I was missing some aspect of it (don't have the books handy). I also think that there should definitely be some kind of text thrown in, like something that wraps around the circle surrounding the stick figure. I'm sure some awesome quote could be found for that.
That's exactly it. Have you never seen the Canadian AE covers - at least I assume they are, I bought them in Canada?

It makes me wonder what the third cover is going to feature...
Symbolism Fanim, Consult, or something new...

I haven't seen those covers! They're pretty damn awesome, I like them much more than the American editions. I think the Tusks could definitely be utilized in a shirt (I'd love some kind of zip-up hoody as well, I'd totally pay cash up-front for it lol). Have we ever actually seen any descriptions of Fanim or Consult "heraldry" for lack of a better word?
Twin Scimitars of Fane are featured fairly prominently in the books. The only thing I can think of is the Inverse Fire for the Consult or perhaps the Carapace but I almost think those would be spoilers. In fact, I think anything will be a spoiler if it continues in the theme of imagery.
That's also the two sides of the single Tusk, I believe.
Yeap, I'm just going to find me a place that does imprints or something :). I just want to facilitate my reading by making it easier for Bakker to write as long as he wants to.

How does the description of the Twin Scimitars of Fane compare to the description of the Shield of Sil? Are the overlapping tusks of the Judging Eye cover linked above arranged in the manner of Sil's shield?
I figured something like this from Achamian/Nau-Cayuti's description.
Didn't you or sciborg2 already describe this somewhere, lockesnow? Lol, though, my associations about the people on these forums becomes quite muddled sometimes.
WHAT DO YOU SEE?*
*I wouldn't actually wear that.
I might where one that said "speaker of poisoned words."
that might be a bit too omega for Sil, I kinda drew it like that, but I think it's more opposing Ss than opposing 2s
SƧ around a V
interesting opposing Ss that interlock make an 8 and an 8 is just ∞ that isn't drunk.
“To indulge it is to breed it. To punish it is to feed it. Madness knows no bridle but the knife.”
I thought the Shield was just a V with opposite facing S's on either side either touching the V at its tops or intersecting a little ways in. Almost like its got wavy wings, which isn't too far off since if the symbol is supposed to be reminiscent of a stylized Inchoroi, the Inchies do have wings.
most violent of all men

IS NOT TRUTH INFINITE?
Or...
"My wang hangs like Aurang's."
I mean, it's not true, but it could make for nice, intellectual conversation.

I could see grumpy ol' Akka wearing that one.
My girlfriend made me this shirt, ala Disciple of the Dog. Spoiler tagged for space(click to show/hide)
Amazing, Wilshire. I have my "Tour Dates" sweater coming soon too. Measure Is Unceasing down the back of one forearm and "The Second Apocalypse Tour" and The Blind Brain Tour" with books and dates on the back under the heading R. Scott Bakker.
You and coobek are onto something with this "Who are the Dunyain?" Wilshire.

Lol have you ever listened to Lewis C.K.?
That made me laugh, Ozark. Here you go!
Minor nit-pick on that image, Somna.
I believe the Captain is described with heavy eye tattoos... I imagined something like Pris from Blade Runner, but more intricate.
Eh, damned if I can remember where I got that from.
His face had been tattooed with the cosmetics favoured by his countrymen. Black lines about his eyes. Purpled lips.

Cool, man! Go for it. And thanks for asking, I appreciate it.
It was a simple design I had done a few months ago online on the shirtinator.de website.
And I thought one day, ok screw it, I just order it now
@ GJ - wats on the t? i can't get my crappy old laptop to load it!
Ha, the Shirt have brought me a beer for free on the last local festival.
For a few minutes I was waiting in the line at the bar and when it was my turn, the barkeeper looked a few moments at my shirt and said:"Ok, this is your beer, for free, because I like your t-shirt! It looks very cool"
Never had a beer tasted so good in this hot summer :)
Fifteen years ago I have walked the whole day in various shirts from the strangest and craziest Heavy-Metal Bands with dark paintings, silly flamewaves or some other stupid thing, but I have never earned a beer with one.
So... I have got my merest fraction ;D
