Teus is just a short form of Thanteus, though that is a strange thing to do for a family name.

I thought that too, just seems weird that it's the only instance in the entire series I can remember where the dimunuitive has been derived from their family name.

Proyas - Prosha
Cnaiur - Nayu
Achamian - Akka
Esmenet - Esmi
Mimara - Mim
Eskeles - ...Teus?

Did he give a reason for the Mandate scenes being removed?

I missed Eskeles in TGO, and him appearing so emmaciated without anything prior seemed a bit...off? And he changed from Thanteus Eskeles to Teüs in TUC.

They would have been awesome additions to TGO and TUC.

Are the swords Alimir and Pitiril meant to be the same sword or tragic misnaming by the Non-men? Not sure if it was mentioned.

Alimir - "Divider" (Ihrimsu). The legendary enscrolled sword of the Kuniuric High-Kings, famed for possessing the Edge Peerless, and when wielded with skill, capable of halving mammoths. Lost at the Battle Eleneot with Anasurimbor Kelmomas in 2146.
Pitiril - Divider (Ihrimsu). Enscrolled blade belonging to the Ishroi Hero Oirinas, lost as the Battle of Pir-Minginnial.

Alimir has been confused with Glimir as it's called in TGO, and is an oversight. It's Celmomas' sword.

Pitiril is the one wielded by the Inversi, and it's cuts through a shield like paper.

Very similar, but I think Glimir/Alimir is like a buffed version, it seems to have extended range. A bit like the Ivory King if you're familiar with Dark Souls.

Oh man really? I was hoping it would be the longest and most detailed one yet!

What was the reason for advising the change if you don't mind me asking? Keeping it one way for 6 books then changing it for the final volume seems a strange choice.

The WHCB were great for laying out what happened in clearer terms given the writing fervour and ambiguity of some of the endings.

The Unholy Consult / Character and Faction List/ What comes before
« on: August 17, 2017, 02:13:43 pm »
Is there any particular reason the character list was excluded for TUC?

I was hoping we'd have one mapping out who comprised each of the contingents, Trials. Seemed like a good chance to lay out the roster for who would be in the Ordeal, given that a few new names appear, Grimmel etc.

And is in just me, or was the what comes before significantly shorter than previous entries?

Would have really helped if it had been updated in TUC, but as I memtioned out, all TTT death characters are lifted with no update, albeit not on purpose.

I'm under the impression that her replacement was relatively recent. Her glossary entry in TTT doesn't give a death date which should indicate her death takes place during the book.

For example, the Cutias Sarcellus entry lists his death as 4099, more than 10 years before the beginning of the holy war.

It's possible the death date wasn't included as a spoiler, but the characters who died in TTT entries were lifted straight from one glossary to the other, TAE doesn't shed any more light on it

As a founding remember of the Consult, at what point did Mekeritrig "ride against the No-God"?

Oh I'd totally forgot about the Excutiata, I've added it to the Q&A thread.

I read it before I'd reached Golgotterath in the book and was waiting for it to be reffered.

So it's a ceiling fresco, literally an upside down painting of hell. A literal Inverse Fire in the most holy place of the Consult, and a matching one in one of the most holy human places.

The part that really gets me wondering is that it's based on pre-Arkfall Nonmen statues, long before the Ark or Inverse Fire came about...

Awesome, I'll stick in my most recent ones I forgot to add to the AMA.

1) How did the Tall become Tall?
2) Was Sil huge and wingless, grafted differently to Aurax and Aurang?
3) Can you explain the Excutiata, is it coincidence that it's reffered to as the Inverse Fire. Though it being based on pre-Arkfall statuary...that's interesting.
4) And a silly one. Why do the Mandate and Scarlet Spires wear the same colours...isn't that confusing. (I seem to remember the Mandate having both blue and yellow robes in PON before adopting a uniform red.

The Unholy Consult / Re: How big is Sil?
« on: August 06, 2017, 03:07:10 pm »
Interesting parallel to the Tall, if Aurax and Aurang shrank. Instead of growing as a result of great deeds they shrank from depraved ones? Unlikely but I like the idea of it.

Maybe Ciolgi wasn't Tall yet?

And surely a soggmant suit of armor or at least some soggomant mail would have served him better?

God I wish there was a EG entry on the Tall. Before TUC, I had a theory that it was the result of some mutation of the initial Innoculation, and made some Nonmen grow as a result.

The Unholy Consult / [TUC Spoilers] How big is Sil?
« on: August 05, 2017, 04:20:16 pm »
I'm trying to work out how big Sil is, cause his shield is fucking massive, as is the Chair of Hooks iirc.

He was capable of riding a dragon but I'm guessing he was significantly larger than Aurax and Aurang?

[EDIT Madness: Title.]

I missed have missed the part in the glossary about his stuff being immune to Chorae.

And nope, no entry on Cinderswords.

You might be onto something with the Cindersword.

Didn't it render Mirshoa immune to Skuthula's fire, hence why it went in with the jaws?

Author Q&A / Re: Unholy Consultation - *SUPER SPOILERIFIC*
« on: July 29, 2017, 12:09:37 am »
Is there any hopes for a further edited Glossary in future printings? While I loved reading it, all the character entries from TTT are lifted with no death dates added and there are loads of things I looked forward to looking up in the Glossary but alas, were nowhere to be found. Some I had hoped for, an entry on the Tall, the Cinderswords.

And is Glimir and Alamir the same sword? It's described as the High-King's sword, spelt as Kelmomas, and matches Glimir's description from TGO.

There's an entry on the finger locking handshake of Boonsmen...but not one on Boonsmen.

It's still my favourite series...that's why I'm so pedantic. ;D
