Yeah longer, the less believable ... however, it's a helluva viramsata all the same.  Bakker took 'what is the meaning of a deluded life' and spread it to every corner of Earwa/Eanna.  These people are going to be believe hard now.

It would be the strangest thing if we found out that Khellus (inadvertently) was sacrificed to save the world (if a world united by him posthumously finds a way to overcome mog).  Trying to fool everyone into believing you are Jesus and die and yet succeed.

Also, whatever Khellus' fate, as a liar, he was the Authentic Prophet of Ajokli.  Those gold haloes weren't in lieu of silver ones, they signified an alternative holiness--being blessed by the biggest demon.

So, the crazies, I mean the very nice people who follow Q and Proud and whatever, have they:

a) always been here, just variations of the same throughout human history
b) what R's been talking about for years now, chaos resulting from Crash Space
c) something new, growing chaos from something ( rapid technological advances leaving people behind, killer robots, AI, etc )

I concede I'm not an expert on R's non-fiction reads, so I may be misinterpreting it ( my previous queries into this field, notwithstanding - I forget, get confused ). Crash Space, from how I (mis)understand it is the psychological blow back of scientific discovery stressing religion. As more lose faith, it can lead to a trauma and to nihilism. The possibility of life having no meaning will trip us up and many may go crazy, doubling down on religious identity to the point of violent absurdity, failures of institutions and the like.

If I got this Crash Space stuff right, I think there's something to it and what we've been seeing could well be the effects of this phenomena. We've "known" politicians can be goofy, but it was always kinda on the sly and though there was corruption, society seemed to move along - now we're seeing unashamed jelly-fish people lead us, just a naked self expression for power absent any concern for the consequences in broad daylight. Not sure which is worse, the cynicism of taking advantage of the mad herd or those who actually believe and fight for it. It's really something.

Yeah, Dark is really good.  I think the only criticism is that it probably could have been a bit better in the end, but certainly well worth watching and it was certainly interesting/entertaining.

ENDING SPOILER

Departure on Peacock ( NBC ) - it was alright, not bad. Well executed for a samo story.

The Trial - Italian crime show on Netflix. Good writing, I liked it. Much of the human dialogue is goofy, but that may be a dubbing issue and may work well in the original Italian. Some of the headier stuff is pretty good. Good amount of fucking going on, so you might like it for that.

I'm having deja vu about writing this, but I don't see the post, so apologies if I went over this already ( somewhere ). Anyways, I finished The Undoing. I liked it, most of it was excellent, fun and some humor. Nice work on showing plausible freakshow Manhatanite life. It ended weak imho, but that's ok, it did a good job of jerking me around about whodunit. Good stuff overall.
